Great location. We were able to walk to all the sites in Kanazawa.

Great stay in the ryokan - wearing our yukatas and eating the beautifully presented kaiseki meals. Our 2 bedroom suite was surprisingly large and spacious , opening out onto a private garden. A small kitchenette was also provided with a well stocked mini bar - all free. Bathroom was beautifully appointed with top notch toiletries provided for all of us in individual cloth bags!
The meals ( breakfast and dinner ) were beautifully presented and served. Breakfast had a choice of western or japanese - we tried both - very good. Service was excellent - attentive, courteous and everything provided for. An unexpected surprise were the gold leaf boxes presented to us on our last day!

Beautifully preserved and maintained property with super spacious rooms and conveniently located to many shops and attractions within easy walking. It is literally next door to an amazing Japanese ceramics history museum and shop. Out of this world service and meals.

Exceptional quality from start to finish. Walking in felt like I was transported back in time. Room was large and inviting, meals were wonderfully crafted and delicious. I didn't speak much Japanese, and my host didn't speak much English, but even with our limited conversation I could tell the service was sincere. A wonderful stay.

The meals and service was excellent. The staff was friendly. The multipurpose room was large and constantly being changed for our use. The quality of the dinner was exceptional and both the Asian and Western breakfasts were nice. Only later did we learn there were only 6 rooms and it seemed to thrive on meetings and lunch businesses to support the ryokan hotel.
It was my first ryokan -- an unusual wonderful experience, but I'm a little too old to crawl around the floor. We came in January (CNY) and it snowed all 3 days which added to the experience; however, it was very cold and the no-shoes policy (which I enforce in my home) and the lack of central heating, kept us from exploring the hotel and the nearby sites. Maybe we should have added a spa experience

The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. We had someone who was dedicated to look after just us and she never failed to look after me and my son. We ate each meal in a different room and saw so many of the hotel's beautiful rooms and garden. The hotel is very well placed for some of Kanazawa's best locations.

This ryokan was stunning and the service, staff and attention to detail was superb.
I am vegetarian and the chef provided three full kaiseki meals and one breakfast without meat. The food was exquisite! They also recognized after the first dinner that I was too full to finish, so my portions were reduced to accommodate my appetite. (I agree with another reviewer that the tempura was the best I've ever had.)
Location was excellent- within walking distance of most points of interest.
I would highly recommend Kinjohro to anyone visiting Kanazawa.

Interesting history, very old-style Japanese. Rooms spacious, very quiet. The private onsen was good. If you can ask for Tempura dinner for one of your dinners, Chef Iida’s tempura is the best I’ve had. Breakfast offering Japanese style was delicious and interesting.
It’s walking distance to Geiko district by the “female” river.
None of the staff spoke English. They all used a translation app. While they may be trying to attract foreign travellers (their brochures are very nicely done), nothing else even attempts to accommodate/ bridge any cultural differences and bring themselves to international standards. 2 double prong local plugs for the whole hotel suite. Local tv. Minimal service staff. They charge JPY500 for each bottle of water bring the 2 in the refrigerator (for the entire stay). Scant utensils/ crockery for kitchen area. Kaiseki meal was a lot of food, but very foreign tasting, (and I am a frequent Japan traveller), and too much. Although the quality of the food is very good.

This was our second stay au Kinjohro. It is a lovely ryokan with excellent service & food. It is a couple of blocks from the old town and close to e everything. Our room was large (upgraded) and the gardens amazing. I highly recommend this Kanazawa landmark.

This was a traditional ryokan so the authenticity and the charm of the historical property were top-notch. The highlight was definitely the kaiseki meals at breakfast and dinner. The price was steep, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, well worth it.
The futon mattress was quite firm (something that one just has to get used to in Japan), but when I asked the hotel to make it thicker, they happily added another mattress, so I was very comfortable.
