Daniel, the owner and Daniel, the bar manager are great at what they do and go out of the way to make your stay great. My girlfriend had a broken foot at the time and they provided us with a cooler of drinks with ice and brought our meals to our place for us. I really liked that they offered free kayaking which I enjoyed. The outdoor shower is a nice touch for the rooms and we had 2 private hammocks and a great view of the lake. We were also traveling with our dog which is always nice to have well received. Note, that they do have a large German Shepard on the property as well!
In the case you are there for the dry season you may want to book the A/C room. It was 40c (104f) a day and the rooms were quite hot at night as there was no breeze.

we had a wonderful stay at the magnificent site - Laguna de Apoyo. Nicely arranged property, attentive staff, delicious breakfast. The best location to relax for a couple of days.

All of it is peaceful, the gardens, ambiance.
All was good.

The grounds of the resort are fantastic and the cottages are charming.
The area where we had breakfast is shaded and we could watch all kinds of birds.
The road is perfectly fine to access the property. Easy to find.

beautiful landscape, cute cottages with exquisitely detailed outdoor shower/ bathroom.
the food was very good too!
the OUTDOOR bathroom INCLUDES the toilet. AT NIGHT the MOSQUITOES BITES VISIBLE AFTER USING THE TOILET = 50 or more!
plus MOSQUITOES get in the room. the MOSQUITO NET above the bed ONLY CLOSED on 3 SIDES! SO MORE MOSQUITO BITES ALL NIGHT!!
= my Girlfriend had an ALLERGIC REACTION to this and got HIVES all over. SO WE LEFT EARLY MORNING.
they ALSO “ACCIDENTALLY” charged my card TWICE for the room reservation…
lastly, the kitchen and bar CLOSE at 7:30pm on a Saturday night!!! so we are told to order drinks before or none would be available later. before 9pm, all cold drinks were warm and not tasty… NO REFRIGERATOR, WI-FI signal IN/ OUT… NO SERVICE AT NIGHT

I have been visiting the laguna every since 2005 and have stayed at differnt places over the years. This was my first time staying at San Simian and it was lovely! I LOVED having a hot shower that was in the middle of beautiful plants and flowers. The bungalow was very neat and clean and felt very cozy. Breakfast was great and included. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Kayaks, inner tubes and a dock to swim out to!

This a very beautiful place right on the edge of the Lagoon Apoyo. Staff are super friendly, and the rooms and landscaping are all very nice. We really enjoyed taking the kayaks out, swimming in the clear waters and enjoying some mojitos at the bar.

The location is excellent. Laguna de Apoyo is a very peaceful destination, and San Simian Lodge made my visit to the Laguna very enjoyable. Would highly recommend staying here.
I got eaten by mosquitoes. No one's fault but my own, as I did not have mosquito spray.
I'm sure the owners would have happily provided me with some.

pretty and comfortable cabañas, nice open-air showers, hammocks to enjoy the view of the laguna, delicious and fresh food, great swimming and free kayaking in the laguna. At night one can hear the voices of the animals and the forest around the laguna - howler monkeys, owls, …

Everything was absolutely on point. Service was superb, Daniel the owner was very friendly, helpful and provided a lot of information about the region. The cabins where super nice and clean. Free use of kayaks, lovely warm lake to swim in, food was good. No-brainer to stay here for at least two-three nights if you want a relaxing and tranquil getaway.
Best accommodation we had in Nicaragua

Daniel & Raquel we’re both very welcoming and hospitable. I felt at home and safe from the moment I got there.
The room was beautiful, clean and very well kept. I had a beautiful view of the Laguna.
I thought it was a bit pricy by Nicaraguan standards. Additionally, they add a 15% tip to the hotel bill on top of tax.

The rustic accommodation was beautiful: the bamboo huts, outdoor showers and the hammock and patio. The location is good but it's right at the end of the long road and it's quite a bumpy ride. You couldn't get closer to the laguna though and that's a huge plus.
The food was not great. It wasn't good quality and there weren't many options. Plus, you only have a limited time to order (dinner is early), but more than that was the issue with the taste. Quite frankly it was disappointing. I wouldn't return for that reason.

Loved the location, it is a must do if staying in Nicaragua, the swim in the lake was amazing. Our Dinner and breakfast was great and the facility upkeep is top notch! We will be back!

Loved the natural surroundings, very peaceful and quite. A beautiful property great if you want to just relax and recharge.
The menu needs improvement needs more variety. The omelette for breakfast was the best omelette I ever had.
