The bed and pillows were comfortable.
Dogs on the property that were not mentioned in the listing and I am allergic. The owner took them to a neighbor so I could stay. There was construction going on for most of the week. It would have been helpful to know about that in advance. Some areas of the apartment needed additional maintenance/cleaning. Check out time was early.

Come visit Barbados! First I want to say that everyone I've met on the Island is welcoming of tourists and really want people to come back here post-pandemic. I'm here in full-blown pandemic and everyone is wearing masks and being respectful in public places. The Bajans are polite, traditional people with an obvious zest for life and I always felt safe. Staying at David's was almost like having a Bajan home-stay with a family as they are very helpful and kind, even checking on me if I disappeared for a few hours to make sure I was safe. They made my stay enjoyable (I stayed 5 weeks and worked from the apartment) and made me feel welcome. The place itself is a modest in-law suite with its own entrance, a living/kitchen open area, a private bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and a pull-out couch, and a small-ish bathroom which nonetheless has very hot water, a glass shower, and a cultured marble sink. There is a small sitting area outside on the driveway with a couple of chairs and a sun shade. Good place for a cocktail when wrapping up the last hour of remote working :-) DO discuss paying a bit extra for the air conditioning - electricity on the Island is expensive so the surcharge offsets the extra cost - but it was so worth it during the day when I was inside working. There are fans available too if you prefer. The power grid in Barbados seems to be dependable and the wifi at David's is clocked at 60 Mbps at this time on a wireless router. There is a smart TV with streaming capability and a house Netflix account. There is a washing machine for cold washing clothes and lots of clothesline space. The house is a bit up on the hill from Oistins but I regularly walked down for groceries (about 30 minutes) and took a taxi back up with my spoils. The GORGEOUS Miami beach is about a 25-minute walk and is clean and stunning.
People are friendly and there is a family atmosphere, and virtually no bugs anywhere (despite online complaints; this was January/February; not sure how seasonal the lack of mosquitoes is). You simply MUST attend the Oistins fish fry. I understand they used to have live music but it's a little more low-key during the pandemic, but still a scene. You can get a freshly-grilled fish dinner and eat it ON THE BEACH UNDER THE STARS with the waves crashing about 30 yards away. Walking further up towards Bridgetown you will find a half-dozen stunning, clean beaches, each one slightly different from the last. The water is warm for swimming and clean, and the waves are sufficient for body-surfing but still safe for kids. If you want to go to Bridgetown, it's about a 20-minute taxi drive. Strangely, most businesses close up on the weekends, so I did a bit of shopping and went elsewhere for some nightlife (also very subdued during the pandemic). I think if you set your expectations then you will have a lovely stay at David's; it's not a 5-star hotel directly on the beach, but for a digital nomad on an extended stay, it was affordable and practical, and I would visit again. Great for 1 or 2 people; you might be able to make it work with a toddler on the pull-out bed!
