Characterful building, close to cycleways
In spite of being opposite a cycleway and including cycling in the description of the hotel features the hotel refused to store our bikes overnight. There was plenty of space in the courtyard!

The bedroom was a good size with a very comfortable bed and clean bathroom with good shower.
The towels were thick and soft, which was lovely.
Good selection of refreshments, with plentiful teabags and biscuits!
The bar is lovely. Spacious and comfortable. Lots of seating areas, with large tables and comfy chairs, or higher tables and chairs.
Great outside area, although but chilly for us to enjoy.
Evening meals were great. Lots of choices and reasonable prices.
Good location, just a short walk into shoppy area and just along the road from a retail park too.
We had a back bedroom so didn't hear traffic noise.
Despite being a pub, the rooms are far enough from the bar that noise was not an issue for us at all.
There is no parking at the hotel.
We booked, believing that the public carpark opposite was a suitable option as mentioned in hotel description but it is not. Carpark payment is only accepted until midnight each day, so we would have been fined if we had paid for 24hours.
We paid for an hour while trying to work out where we could leave the car for the correct period needed and decided to use Tesco carpark as we could leave it there overnight. Parking on the upper level gave added security as this has full door barriers while the store is closed.

The bedroom was beautifully decorated and amenities within the room were great.
The noise of the creaking floors constantly and throughout the night kept us awake all night and we did not get any sleep. The creaking floors are extremely loud and seem as though people are walking around tour room.

The hotel has a lot of character with its original features. Perfect if you’re looking for something different. I loved it. Great location.
My only negative comment would be the pillows were too soft and it would be nice to have a choice. Not much of a negative really!

Lovely place. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Only 1 loo roll, no extra in bathroom

I liked the character of the building it was in a lovely area with the river running beside the hotel. It was clean and the bedding/ towels were changed everyday and also spacious and cosy.
The location was brilliant very close to the shops/ restaurants with plenty to see.
The member of staff that showed us to our room was very friendly and accommodating.
Good WIFI in the room and plenty of choice of channels on the TV.
Coffee machine and coffee pods and plenty of breakfast bars on offer In room.
We found the bed wasn't comfortable for us it was far too soft for us and we found our backs took a impact.
The bath didn't have a slip proof mat that potentially could be dangerous.
There wasn't a kettle so couldn't have a cup of tea in the morning.
Heater in the room was broken, found the room got a little cold in the evening I think this was due to the windows not being able to shut properly so there was a draft and also they did rattle from the wind.

It was like stepping back in time.
The staff were really friendly my room was lovely.
I had to be out of my room & out of the premises by 11am, but my family could not pick me up until 11:30am so I had to stand outside with my case until they got there, it would have been nice to have had somewhere to sit & wait until my family arrived for me.

Lovely quaint room. Almost in City centre. Very helpful staff. Great outside area.
Could be difficult to park at peak times across the road in the private car park, hotel has an arranged discount though. Would be nice if they served breakfast, but plenty of choices a short walk away

beautifully renovated old beamed building - especially beautifully appointed beamed bedrooms for the price. staff really helpful and friendly on a personal level.
the rooms are liable to noise from adjoining rooms, not downstairs though. Need warning to accommodate requests for alternative milk or different teas etc but did so asap on request.

The old mill features and exposed wooden beams were amazing. Original and intimate decor, perfect for us as a couple
Low ceilings. Being an old, converted building this was to be expected but I did find myself crouching a bit going up the stairs (really not bad, just a niggle)

We didn’t have breakfast
Beautiful room with a view over the river! The room it’s self is lovely! The only thing that lets it down is the the decor just needs a bit of love and care as doors, bedside tables, bed wardrobes etc all have a lot of paint chips also the bedside lamp was very dusty and the shade was broken! The bathroom could maybe do with a little update other than that it really is a stunning room!

full of character, we loved the charm of all the original beams.
the shower was operated by the bath’s hot and cold taps and was very sensitive (not a big problem at all!)

Nice size room, good location. Easy to access after hours.
Green light you couldn't turn off, no breakfast facilities

The hotel is well located, town centre, University, bus and train station are a 10 minutes walk away
There are spiders net all over the room, specially on the windows, little spiders on the windows and the ceiling.
The floor is made of wood and it is really noisy, it creaks every time people on the room above move.

Very good communication from the Riverside. Fantastic old building full of character. Great location close to town centre.
Not a problem for us, we are active pensioners, but access to the room up steep stairs would be a problem for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Lovely old pub, good location for our visit to Oktoberfest.
Door lock to room needs attention- was not easy to open or lock.

Staff were very friendly and helpful , location was excellent for visiting friends in the area. Really nice very old building with lots of character. Room was very clean. Very good value for money.
The bed was not particularly comfortable, a new mattress would be helpful. Some fittings are looking a little tired

Beautiful hotel, excellent city centre location, with huge bedrooms - lovely and warm and cosy - didn't need/want for anything else.
If they offered breakfast that would of been helpful, but understand if they can't.
