The property was promoted as rustic so we expected and were ready for something akin to a backpacker. Our experience…the cleaner had covid and the owner didn’t follow up to make sure the place was cleaned before we arrived so the place was very dirty. They said they would waive our cleaning bill, well that is what I would consider a minimum, who wants to go on holiday and have to clean the home before you can use it! The picture of the outside did not reflect the actual condition of the grounds. When we arrived the grounds were overgrown with grass and weeds over 30cm tall so the maintenance and care issue is not just a COVID blip. One of the children asked if the property was abandoned. As I arranged this as a family holiday I was very embarrassed. There doesn’t appear to have been any general maintenance, done on the place for a while. There is a hole in wall in a bedroom, and a cracked window. Two rooms had curtain rails hanging off the wall. The upstairs veranda and chairs need a good waterblast to remove the mould and grime. The positives of the place are that there is a lot of bedding, the bathrooms were good and the kitchen is well stocked with pots pans etc. the location is great. They owners provide a good range of videos and games. I feel very sorry for the owner as I think their maintenance person has let them down. I had earlier correspondence with the owners and they were genuinely helpful. Backpacker/quirky home is what we expected but for nearly $3000 for 8 days the cleanliness and general condition of the property and grounds was not ok. I hope the owner does something about this. I’ve raised it with them and provided photos of the condition of the place but have not had a response.
