Villa Il Torrino (locally also known as Villa Rossini) is a very beautiful and historical place. The house has a warm atmosphere, is spacious and comfortable, and is situated in a large beautiful garden with shadowy places, terraces, and a private swimming pool.
The premises are well kept by a gardener and pool cleaning service, and of course by Manuela, the caretaker, who is also full of advice about local restaurants and events. When we for instance asked for horse-riding facilities, she pointed us to Il Felcino, a very nice horse-riding and "Agriturismo" centre in the beautiful Umbrian hills/country side surrounding the villa.
In sum: Our family had the most beautiful two weeks in this Umbrian villa. When temperatures rise we enjoyed the eternal Mediterranian concert of the cicadas and, combined with beautiful views, an Orvieto classic white whine, and a light breeze from the hills, you'll immediately understand the greatness, charm and elegance of Italy and its good life that is rooted in great tradition.
No complains. The only little improvement maY concern the WiFi-facility (somewhat unstable and not in all areas of the house available). A simple amplifier will do the job.

A beautiful Italian country house set in large gardens traditionally furnished and decorated, known locally as Villa Rossini. The property is accurately described as are the pictures however where you stay is only half of the total house, the other half when we stayed was not occupied. It may be that this part is the owners personal holiday home as I've not seen it advertised anywhere. There is no access to the third floor or the tower. The swimming pool is large and totally secluded all one depth of about 1.9 metres. The views from the back of the property are amazing across olive trees and woods.
Although the house is set back from the road if you are a light sleeper and are on the front of the house you can hear the morning traffic from about 6am until about 7.30am when it dies down. It's not really busy but fairly constant. It would have been nice to have had a toaster and electric kettle but these are only minor things. As the house is so interesting we would have loved to have had the history of the house provided to read, especially as there are what looks like old family pictures in the property. If you are prone to reacting to mosquito bites make sure you're prepared, they are small and difficult to see but very hungry!!

If you are looking for a pristine, Ikea-style place to stay then this is NOT the place, but if you are looking for authentic, Italian style with the warmth of an Umbrian welcome then this is perfection, even our bedroom ceiling was hand-painted! We were 2 families travelling together with our 12 & 13 year old daughters who absolutely loved the villa as much as we did (WiFi essential!). Stunning location, clean and very comfortable beds with the essential mattress and pillow protectors, especially in the heat of an Italian summer! The villa remained cool, the pool was fabulous and having the pool-side shower was great. There are 2 toilets in the villa, which is not specified in the description. We loved our stay and Carla the Housekeeper was a delight!
There was nothing we did not like, but a couple of things to take note of .....
Be prepared to dispose of your rubbish at the local supermarket, there is no kerb-side collection, they are big on recycling, it was not a problem for us at all, but it is something to factor in.
Also be prepared for the cidadas! The trees around the villa are filled with them, they start their 'singing' around 9:15am and finish about 10pm, or thereabouts depending on the heat? Silence or just listening to the bird song is not a possibility once they get going. We did not mind at all, it all added to our Umbrian experience!
