About this cottage rental
This is a stunning, peaceful and unique cottage set in the centre of Chichester, though once you step inside you wouldn't believe you are in the centre of town. Arriving at the cottage there is off road parking for two vehicles.
Entering the cottage through the front door you will be surprised at its size, the rooms are so much bigger than you would expect from a fairy tale cottage. The sitting room has a lovely log burner and the host provides logs for the first night, there is comfortable seating, a TV and the room is open through to the dining area which has a table to seat 4. The pretty shuttered windows surrounding the room look onto the cottage garden. Through the wooden double doors you will find the kitchen which has been well equipped so you can comfortably self cater for your stay including oven and hob, microwave and fridge. There is also a further fridge and a freezer in the garage to the cottage, along with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Downstairs you will find a small double room and a shower room. For the more agile in your party you will find a further bright and sunny room on the first floor with a super king size bed and a hidden sitting area with dressing table.
Outside the pretty cottage garden is bright and sunny with a raised decking area with seating so you can sit out and enjoy the summer evenings.
This cottage truly is a dream to stay in and the hosts have gone to every trouble to marry the unique architecture and traditional features with modern conveniences.
Located less than half a mile from Chichester city centre and the famous Chichester Festival Theatre, Truffle Cottage is an ideal base for those keen to explore the sights and sounds of this historic city. The city's origins date back to the pre-Roman era, but for the last 900 years the skyline of the city has been dominated by its cathedral. The city centre offers a great range of both independent and high street shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. The cottage is also close to the "Centurion Way", a popular walking and cycling route that leads north from Chichester, following the route of an old railway line that linked the city to the villages of Lavant and West Dean. Chichester train station is very nearby and can be reached in 20 minutes on foot. London Victoria is also less than 2 hours away, with direct trains from Chichester to London Victoria. Direct trains travel all along the south coast also.
Other local attraction include the Goodwood Estate, known around the world for both its horse racing and the Glorious Goodwood week, as well as its motor racing events that include the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. One of the best beaches on the south coast is located at West Wittering, to the south of Chichester. With the excellent road and rail links, it is also easy to visit the cities of Portsmouth, famous as being home to the Royal Navy, and Brighton, which has a wonderful array of shops and bars.

Very quant little cottage ideally positioned for Chichester town centre
Would highly recommend for a holiday stay

Good location for all local attractions, town and waterways. Easy to find and quaint property. Welcome gifts and flowers were a nice touch. Situated by a busy noisy road. Not as clean as I would have expected as I I understood it would be "covid cleaned" (the rug was stained) and needs some attention e.g. handles loose and cupboards do not close properly, the bathroom sink dripped and the toilet too. The water was hot in the shower but shower heads not set well so you couldn't stand under the water. Couldn't use the upstairs bedroom as the stairs were so narrow and the banister was a rope so felt too unsafe for me. There was no hanging space in the downstairs bedroom. Living area dark so had to have the lights on or keep the back door open. I didn't use the log burner but heating was good.

Very comfortable cottage decorated with style and good taste, lots of vintage or even antique items.
Our friendly landlady even had a welcome package ready on arrival .

A lovely bijou cottage ideal for two friends or a couple. Bathroom downstairs but very spacious, lovely big shower. Bed linen of very high quality. Proximity to main road meant easy access to city centre and travelling out of the city and going to the Festival Theatre (on foot) so even though it looks rural in photos it is not in rural location.

Our time at Truffle Cottage
On the positive side, the cottage was very comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The garden was well kept and and very useful for sitting out in the sun.
The only negative comment is that the kitchen was lacking a number of necessary cooking utensils. The shape of the only frying pan was such that it was difficult to use on the hob. Also, a sieve would have been useful, as would more than one saucepan!
Overall, a very enjoyable stay, and well situated for walking to the centre of Chichester.

great short break
Delightfull cottage, exceptionally clean, comfortable, well equiped and welcoming. Ideally placed to just walk into Chichester with all its attractions and places to eat.
The owner could not have been more helpfull with directions and recommending places to visit. Would certainly return.

Summer stay
The cottage is in a great location to visit Chichester and nearby beaches and Portsmouth. It has everything you need for a short stay and we were very comfortable there.

well situated for discovering the area.
unfortunately as we live in the country we did find the main road rather noisy, but as we were out most of the time it was not a big issue. Comfortable and cosy. A good situation for discovering the countryside.

Lovely and unique characterful period property, well located.
Enjoyed our stay, would come again. Owner helpful and friendly. (Please See Trip Advisor Review! sorry, but I've done too many of these reviews today...)

Delightful period cottage within easy access of Chichester town centre
Delightful period cottage, full of character and well maintained. Host was particularly welcoming and provided an excellent and generous welcome pack. Chichester town centre is 10-15 minutes walk from the cottage.

A happy stay at Truffle Cottage
We stayed at Truffle Cottage in February, it was lovely and cosy and the perfect get away from the building work that was going on at home It had been lovingly restored with every creature comfort and yet it kept its old world charm Would love to go back in the summer and enjoy a glass of wine in the garden!

The roadway immediately outside the cottage detracted from what should have been a peaceful visit. The cottage itself was pleasant but dark and we were unable to to admit light through the front windows due to there being no curtains, only wooden shutters throughout. None of these fitted properly. The sofa was uncomfortable in a room with absolutely no natural light unless the door was open to the elements. The house was not as well cleaned as expected on arrival with spiders and dust prevalent. The kitchen was not as well equipped as we were led to believe having only one saucepan with a lid and a frying pan which was a disgrace and had to be scrubbed before use. Access for a car was difficult due to the excessive speed of traffic despite a 30 mph limit. Heavy lorries in particular causing much disturbance 24/7. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were unsubstantial.

A wonderful retreat in Chichester
Cozy, convenient slef contained cottage located in close proximity to the town centre of Chichester, just in 10 minutes walk you will reach the town centre. Water pressure and hot water supply was especially good. Comfortable bed rooms. Beddings and towels were clean and tidy. Large freezer and fridge which provided good food storage during my stay. I enjoyed a very pleasant week with my family in the cottage during my son's half term break and will put this cottage in top priority for future visit to Chichester.

Truffle Cottage
I booked the cottage at fairly short notice and the lady at Henry Adams was most helpful. Also, the owner of the
Cottage went beyond the call of duty to help out when I had a problem due to unforeseen family circumstances.
