About this house rental
Summary:
Mar-y-sol means sea and sun, and this stunning home deserves the name. Mere steps from our beloved beachfront Malecón, Casa Marysol boasts panoramic Sea of Cortez views from its bedroom and rooftop balconies. You’ll love unwinding in the spacious living room, which opens onto an immaculate private courtyard complete with a pool, & grill. Although you’ll be tempted to enjoy the house all day long, don’t forget that it’s only a short walk to our finest restaurants, bars, and shops!
The Space:
Right as you enter Casa Marysol you’ll see a beautiful mural depicting the sun setting over the Sea of Cortez.
With its white walls, blue accents, and variety of marine decorations, Casa Marysol is a cute and classy beachtown villa, with its many spaces perfect for lounging and entertaining, this home invites connection and conviviality.
You’ll love the rooftop terrace, open-plan kitchen/dining room, and bright, open, and fantastically decorated interior. The living room opens to a large and spacious backyard complete with a pool, grill, and a desert garden.
The private spaces are just as inviting: both bedrooms are meticulously furnished and have their own full bathrooms and walk-out balconies. Casa Marysol is simplicity and elegance, done right.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to all areas of the house beyond the 2 bedrooms. Common areas include living room, kitchen and a full dining room, outdoor living room and pool in the courtyard, and laundry room with a washer and dryer. There are air conditioning units in every room of the house.
We take pride in using non-toxic cleaning supplies, providing a healthier and more natural alternative, while being just as effective to synthetic-based conventional cleaners.
We are making efforts towards water conservation in La Paz. We are adopting water-efficient technologies, growing mostly native vegetation in our decorative gardens, promoting responsible water usage, and building urban rainwater capture basins.
Finally, we provide canvas grocery bags you can use in your trips to the local stores, farmer’s and fish markets
The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood overall is very quiet. The seaside promenade is about a minute’s walk from the house.
Only a block away is our favorite breakfast place, María California and 2 blocks from Dulce Romero, a hip, organic sandwich shop and bakery. There is also a great butcher shop nearby where you can buy excellent meats in case you want to have a cookout.
Casa Marysol is the perfect place to explore Baja California Sur’s only true Mexican city, set like a pearl in the crown of the Bay of La Paz. Your days can be spent wandering the shops and markets, strolling the Malecón or heading to the islands for scuba diving, snorkeling, or playing with the sea lion cubs.
Getting Around:
From the La Paz airport: You can take a taxi or rent a car.*
To the boardwalk , restaurants, bars, downtown and main square where the cathedral and plaza are located, the farmer's market, municipal market and supermarket: All are at WALKING DISTANCE.
To the outlying beaches: You can drive, or take a taxi, or a tour. If you take a taxi, do not forget to arrange your return or ask him to wait for you.*
General Notes:
You can take the public bus one block from the house.
You can take UBER to go everywhere (except the airport).
*We can make arrangements with reliable drivers without extra costs.
Other Things to Note:
While Casa Marysol is overall in a quiet neighborhood, it a block away from a popular restaurant bar, and you may hear some music and conversation at night coming from the bar.
Interaction with Guests:
Ana, our customer service specialist, is available at any hour during your stay.

Casa Marysol was stunning! We wish we could have stayed longer, definitely didnt have enough time to explore La Paz and enjoy all this special home had to offer. Highly recommend!

The house was stunning!! Beautiful rooms with balconies amd great views!! Short walk to the Malecon, great restaurants and the cutest ice cream shop. My daughter tried a new flavor every night!! Everyone was very friendly and even met previous tenants!

We stayed after traveling around Baja for a week camping and Casa Marysol was the perfect place to regroup before going home. The private gated parking was amazing as we had a rental car, and the laundry was super convenient. We loved the refreshing pool, colorful decor and rooftop terrace with views of the harbor. Better than the pictures!

Casa Marysol is a great value. Stayed for 5 weeks and our only problem with the set up is the barking dogs and at times, construction next door at the non profit. Ana Carolina is a great host!

My husband and I selected La Paz to welcome the new year. The location of Marysol allows walking to the waterfront, neighborhood restaurants, and other interesting sites. Check in was very smooth and communication with the property manager was stellar. I would highly recommend Casa Marysol to anyone wanting a relaxing and memorable vacation.

The apartment is centrally located in La Paz and has easy access to Malcon and all the great restaurants.

The place was perfect for our stay. Close the water, restaurants and activities. Great time had by all. Just make to bring earplugs as the area has many restaurants and bars that go late on Friday and Saturday but very quiet the rest of the week.
Highly recommend this property

The house is very nice and in good repair. Everything worked as it should. We did not cook but the kitchen looked like it has all the basic cookware. We really enjoyed the pool.
There are a number of restaurants nearby. Rancho Viejo was only a block and a half away. We went there three of four times and always thought the food was good. I would recommend it.
There is an outdoor private party venue about a block away and it can be a little loud on the weekends. We closed the windows and doors and had the HVAC fan on to mask the music. That worked for us.
I would recommend the this house. It has two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms and was perfect for two couples.

The location is perfect, just a block from the Malecón. Numerous restaurants, you can walk everywhere. The house and pool were great! So many different options to sit outside. Host was very responsive and even arranged an in house massage. When we return to La Paz we will certainly rebook Casa Marysol. Thank you for an amazing stay!

We so enjoyed our stay at Casa Marysol! It was well equipped and having the pool was delightful! Great was to cool down after walks on the Malecon. We enjoyed the backyard and the sunsets from the rooftop. As other reviews stated, it can be noisy on the weekends, due to what I think is a club, on the next block. Because we had read this we brought earplugs which did the trick! We felt safe and would stay here again! Lovely property!

We had a great time at the property and in La Paz. I thought it might be helpful to describe our experience for other travelers and families. We are a family of 4, kids are age 2 and 4. The pool was wonderful for them and we felt safe because the sliding doors in all rooms lock from the inside with a key, so the kids couldn't get outside without an adult opening the door. The house is 2 stories and also has a roof deck (that we didn't use). The stairs do not have a railing, so may be a little difficult for someone with limited mobility. The two bedrooms are upstairs and each have an ensuite bathroom. We asked ahead for a high chair and a travel crib which were provided and was so useful to have there so we didn't need to fly with those things. Ana Carolina organized for an in-house massage for me which was a treat!
The location of the house is great. 1 block from the Malecon with restaurants and a nice place to walk. There is a nice ice cream place 1 block away as well as an Oxxo convenience store 1 block away. We had a rental car which I think was essential for getting to beaches and restaurants that were further away. The house had a space to park inside a locked gate, but it was very narrow, so not ideal for big cars.
Our trip was in August which was HOT but the house had good air conditioning in each bedroom and in the living room. However, when we arrived the air conditioning was not on and it took a couple of hours to cool the house. We would definitely stay again!

This house was ideally located and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay in La Paz. It was nicely decorated, clean, the beds so comfortable, plenty of space and seating for 4 people with all the indoor and outdoor spaces. The pool was just perfect, shaded in the afternoon. The neighborhood around had several great restaurants and a convenience store nearby and lovely to be just a block up from the Malecon.

My friend and I enjoyed 6 nights at the Villa. Just as decribed, everything was perfect. We loved the location and spending time relaxing in the backyard. Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed to have a great relaxing vacation. Thank you. Would definitely return and recommend to our friends..

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Casa Marysol. It is located perfectly. Close to everything one could want. We had rented a vehicle so anything beyond us was easily accessed. The property itself is lovely. We noticed it likely needs a little sprucing up here and there, it’s evident the property is popular! That’s not going to take much though. The VRBO app was up and down, but we still managed to get ahold of the property manager as needed—which wasn’t much.
We would stay again in a heart beat. The pool and hot tub were so good, we took advantage of most afternoons in the yard. Make sure you check out Estrella’s on the beach. The best bunch of folks ever!
See you again La Paz, you were outstanding and having travelled extensively in MX-by far the best, most relaxed and family oriented atmosphere we have experienced! We loved it!

My wife and I stayed in LaPaz for 3 days before we went to Cabo to our timeshare. I highly recommend staying at this place in LaPaz. The private pool & hottub was so nice to come home from walking/sightseeing/shopping and just relax and enjoy a cocktail! It’s a must stay!

The house is just wonderful! Clean, comfortable, well stocked, fun décor, nice outdoor spaces. It was great having a spot to pull in our car and lock it up. We especially enjoyed the beautifully landscaped yard and pool. It is walking distance to the Malecon and great food. We happily recommend it! Sadly, we struggled to sleep through the 'beer-pong' nightclub and barking dogs next door, even those that don't normally have trouble sleeping through noise. Otherwise the place would be perfect. After a trip to the beach we came home to no water at all. She was quick to respond and sent a repair man and women promptly thank goodness. We couldn't shower but headed to dinner. They were there until almost 10 pm which made it awkward to hang out like we normally could have. We understand things happen but also were not offered any compensation for not being able to use the house as you normally would for a large chunk of the day (we could be there but with no water at all we couldn't really, plus had repair people there). Fabulous place and we had a fabulous time!

We thoroughly enjoyed this property. It is very well located in town and steps from the Malecon. We really enjoyed the many different environments that the home has, from the pool area (with hammock!), multiple decks on different levels (an with views of the water), and lovely indoor sitting areas. We also appreciated the ease of being able to contact the property manager Ana Carolina. She even brought us a special pastry (Rosca) on the holiday for Dia de Los Reyes. We would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place to relax in La Paz.

We absolutely loved our stay here at this VRBO! The location couldn’t have been much better as it is a couple minute walk down to the beachfront/Malecón. The property itself was very unique and had a lot of nice personal touches. The pool/hot tub was great and felt very private. One thing to note about the pool/hot tub is that if you turn on the heat, it heats both the pool and hot tub at the same temperature. So the hot tub will get nice and hot, but then the pool will also get a little too warm. Not a huge deal as we mainly used the hot tub at night anyways but just something to note. We also had a few issues with the water just turning off and the toilets not flushing, however, the host was extremely responsive and got the handyman over to fix everything in a very timely fashion.
Overall, this place was great and would highly recommend it for anyone looking to have a nice little getaway in La Paz!

Pros:
The house is beautiful and spacious with several areas to lounge in the sun or shade and enjoy the beautiful weather, view of the water and sunset and listen to music from the surrounding area almost every night (some may not like this but we did).
Located at the far end of the Malecon, however, only a block from the water, and an easy walk to the marina, bars, restaurants, excursions, bike rental, bus terminal, etc.
The kitchen was well equipped with oil, seasonings, coffee/cream/sugar, plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. They included nice soap, shampoo and conditioner, plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc.
The washer and dryer were great to have for our month stay.
The pool was the perfect size and temperature.
The yard is beautiful with tropical landscaping and lime and grapefruit trees.
We BBQ’d on the rustic grill many times. The charcoal drawer was a bit difficult to deal with but otherwise it was great to have.
The wood fired oven on the 3rd floor felt great on a chilly night. The 3rd level lounge area was definitely our favorite . . . comfortable furniture, nice view, lighting, fire, etc.
We enjoyed daily visits from woodpeckers, geckos, hummingbirds, pigeons, doves, and many other types of birds that enjoyed making a quick stop at the pool for a drink. We even spotted three parakeets in the tree next door one day.
The weekly cleaning crew and pool cleaner/handyman were friendly, efficient, and thorough.
We had an issue with the lock on the back door wall and it was promptly fixed by the handyman.
We did not have a car so we used Didi for transportation to/from the grocery store once a week (43 pesos each way), to/from Playa Tecolote (180 pesos each way), and to La Paz airport on departure day (70 pesos). We rented a car for one day from Avis a block from the rental for 500 pesos to go to Playa Balandra and a couple other beaches.
Cons:
Barking dogs . . . a lot of barking dogs.
The living room furniture layout was not ideal for watching TV and the furniture was very uncomfortable. We love watching football and movies so this is important to us, however, might not be to others.
The WIFI was inconsistent and rarely worked on the 2nd or 3rd floor but we used our hotspot so not a big deal.
The hot water at the shower/sinks did not last long so maybe a bigger tank is necessary.
Recommendations:
Portable beach chairs would be a great addition.

Great location to waterfront, bars and restaurants. Authentic Mexican holiday home, pool was essential. Well kept, and well appointed to cook in if you wish. Small observation was shower pressure was a trickle not sure if this was due to water shortage or internal pressure.

Great place to stay!!
Property is in a great location, close to downtown, restaurants and to malecon, pool was perfect to enjoy as a family, everything was working fine at the property, a little bit of noise at nights due to a night club close by and some barking dogs.

This place was amazing. Great location. Beautiful house. Loved all the patios and the pool and jacuzzi in the private back yard made it feel like our own paradise. Host was the best. Friendly helpful and fast response anytime we had questions. Will definitely be back.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. House has everything you need. Pool was perfect and refreshing. House is in a great location to walk to dining and shopping. Second time staying with this owner and she is amazing. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and sons birthday and the owner went above and beyond to make our stay special. Will definitely stay again.

Great property and host!
Beautiful home, well cleaned and organized. Host was great about getting back to us in a timely manner when we were given the wrong entry code by accident. :)
I plan to stay there every time I visit La Paz in the future. It was close to the main strip of shops, restaurants and street fairs. Hostess was very kind, easy to communicate with and very responsive throughout our visit. LOVED IT!

A perfect getaway
The property was really well equipped, comfortable beds and clean spaces . We especially loved the roof top deck and back patio.

Perfect
This is a well designed multi level property with comfortable beds, great linens and everything we needed. The best part however was all the outdoor spaces. On the first level is a nice seating area, pool and lounge chairs if you want to catch some sun. On the second floor there are balconies off of both bedroom suites, one over the pool area and a larger one with a view of the bay. Then on the third floor you have a fantastic view of the marina and bay. You can catch both the sunrise and sunset. We loved everything about this space.

La Paz Beauty
My wife and I enjoyed our two nights to start a week plus long trip to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We picked one great place with Casa Marysol. Just a block from the marina and beach. Great way to start the day is to walk the La Paz Promenade along the Sea of Cortez. Highly recommended with a great private pool. We will be back!

Great location & amazing host
Stayed for the full month of July 2021 and had a superb experience with the property and host, from the first interaction to the last. Zero complaints. Casa is great/exactly as advertised; location is super convenient (close to both the Malecón and marina); hosts are prompt and professional. House has all the comfort and amenities. Pool is lovely. Back yard attracts a dozen types of birds. Internet works well enough for video conferencing etc downstairs but is spotty upstairs (bedrooms). Unsure about shorter rentals but our month rental included weekly full house cleaning and bi-weekly pool maintenance services. All local staff lovely and gracious. We will be back.
