Außergewöhnliche Location

Coole Atmosphäre, Gemeinschaftsküche, Aufenthaltsbereiche, Gefängnismuseum

Kein Parkplatz über Nacht in der Nähe, aber wenn man der Hauptstraße nach Süden folgt, kann man in der "Verlengde Schrans" kostenlos parken (reichlich 1 km).

it is a very neat property located in the old jail. it is very clean and the beds were very comfortable. also the rooms were cool which was very nice

great hostel (as soon as they fix the ventilation issues)

the rooms and location are great

We slept very poorly due to a malfunctioning ventilation shaft that made continuous loud noises all night. The staff was very nice and tried to fix it but could not.

Great stay of a different kind!! Booked this place specifically for the converted prison experience and was not disappointed. Cell / room sparse and clinical, but hey - thats what you book it for, right? Really loved the building too, and how the ground floor was converted into an art space with galleries and small independent shops. Great location in the center of town.

The room was very dusty; the shelves were seemingly not de-dusted since quite a while, so that I did not even wanted to place my stuff there.

Cool hotel. Excellent value and location.

The prison setting is very cool - they've done an excellent job of making this a very comfortable hotel whilst retaining the historical features. Excellent value for money and location.

Superb

The hostel is right in the center of Leeuwarden, in an old prison which makes it special. It has a kitchen which is super clean with everything you need and an area to eat. The room and beds were comfortable and it was quiet.

I'll be back ... again.

I've stayed here quite a few times, so no surprises. I like the young, friendly staff. They are very informal. The rooms are very basic, which is great because I travel with dogs and there is nothing for them to damage. There is a shared bathroom and shower on the landing, but it just works. They also have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. I'd recommend people stay here in the winter when it is quieter. It has a really nice vibe and you get the place more or less to yourself. Or at least I did.

It's 40 euros for a room. What more do you want. There is nothing to dislike. The choice is to stay in a chain hotel, pay double the price, and leave unhappy or indifferent to the experience.

Inventive use of an old jail! Went out of their way to make sure our bikes were locked up and safe. Very friendly staff!!

It was a prison, so do not expect the ritz level of compfort and sofistication 🤣 shared showers can be accepted. More convieniant plugs for charging things would be nice.

A quirky prison experience

Centrally located in Leeuwarden city, Alibi hostel gives easy access to the town sites. Staying in an ex-prison is something a bit different and makes a good conversation starter, "Have you ever been in prison?" The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Understanding the prison theme that the hostel is based on I still found the room a bit too sparse. Looking at the museum photos of the prison as it was when it was in use showed more decoration and "comfort" than current. The room consists of a bed, reading light, 1 desk and chair, and a small open cabinet for storing your personal items.

overall very great!

i love the room! it was quiet, clean and overall very nice. the showers are also squeaky clean. i only had trouble finding the toilet because the sign was the same with the sign of rooms hence it was a bit confusing

maybe change the signs of the toilet because it is highly confusing as they are the same colours as the bedrooms. if possible, supply disposable slippers as well

Interesting place to stay, rooms are small and you have to share bathrooms but it is ok, the place is clean and very cool with great location.

Allow to open the windows for fresh air, there is no AC. I recommend to add some shelves in the showers to put the soap etc.

Really interesting and friendly place to stay

The hotel is situated in an old prison, and everything is done to preserve the building and the prison feel. Rooms are simple, no TV, but the bed was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. As it is a hostel, there is a kitchen to cook your own food

We had pretty hot weather, but due to the fact that the building is a monument, the windows are the same as they were when it was a prison. Which means that there is only limited option to open them. As there is no airco (it's a monument, and airco is not allowed) it was a bit stuffy. With lower temperatures, that shouldn't be a problem.
