About this cottage rental
If the dates that you want are taken, please be aware that the smaller cottage (the Palace/la MerVeille) still has availability, so please do ask me about that. Thank you!
Waterfront cottage on sheltered cove--rocks, sand, sea glass! Incredible Views of rocky coast from open deck + 3 rooms with huge windows, incl. bedroom! Eat while watching Lobster Boats come into cove to tend their traps! Best of both worlds: beside Short Beach plus short walk to Long Public Beach for surfing or running with the sea at your feet and wind in your hair! Water in every direction.
Character: delightful diamond-pane old windows, French doors
Smaller cottage towards back of property also has ocean views, in case other family members or friends want to be nearby. See HomeAway #3469463 .
Internet, DirecTV, Books.
The beautiful white sand beaches of Biddeford offer a getaway vacation that you will want to return to every summer--and this cottage offers the perfect spot. Enjoy watching sparkling water and waves breaking on the rocks, from the comfort of your living room or deck. Wade in the sheltered waters on the small beach just a few steps away, or stroll down to jump in the waves on the 3-mile-long beach just over the hill--Fortunes Rocks is known for its beaches, and surfers visit all year!
The quiet small beach and the splashing public beach are as different as night and day, and this house is one of the very few giving you the best of both.
One very special bedroom has huge windows looking out over the cove and beach, for peaceful sunrise and glorious sunsets. What could be more romantic than watching the moon cross the sky with moonlight glittering on the water below!
Stroll out into the yard and enjoy the flowers, then step onto the beach to explore rock pools at the edge of the sea. Sit on the beach with the light breeze and the sand between your toes--the kids can make sand castles in the fresh salty air.
Town is only a few minutes away, where you can discover that the historic districts of Biddeford and Saco provide delightful walks. New development has brought cafes (including Panera Bread!) and ethnic restaurants. The mills have been transformed by artisans, woodworkers and many small businesses in the new loft spaces on the island in the Saco River. History and architecture buffs will enjoy the “Museum on the Streets” self-guided walking tour. Scenic river views may be enjoyed from trails, a gazebo and benches.
Funtown, aquaboggin & shopping malls are nearby: To the north, there is Old Orchard (15 minutes), Portland (a half hour), and Freeport's LL Bean store just beyond. To the south, Boston is an hour and a half, Kennebunkport just 15 minutes, and the shopping at Kittery in between.
Boater's paradise: there is a boat launch on the Saco River; kayak rentals for the river/salt marshes to the north/the ocean! There are lobster boats, fishing boats, boats to whale-watch!
Artists paint islands and lighthouses at Biddeford Pool, and visit galleries from Perkins Cove to Kennebunkport.
Naturalists can walk the beach, the salt marshes, woods, and fields, watching for birds, chipmunk, woodchuck, beaver, fox, wild turkey, deer, moose, ... Bigfoot?!!? Well, what's a summer without a little adventure? Maine is Vacationland, and 'Sea Haven' at Fortunes Rocks has the best location of all.
Near shopping, arts, theatre, antiques, book sales, whale watch, fishing, kayaking, lobster!
Perfect for just resting and rejuvenating in the salty air!
Getting there: Apart from driving, or flying to Boston (BOS) or Porland (PWM), you could even come by train! The new Amtrak station, opened in 2009, is notable for being the first green design train station in the U.S., featuring a wind turbine for electricity, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and a roof made from recycled soda bottles.

Nothing can beat the location of this quaint cottage - right on the water with access to a small private beach. We were able to put our kayaks right in the water and explore, watch the wild life (we had a cute duck family that visited every day) and be lulled by the waves to sleep each night. The house is surprisingly roomy with many places to sit/eat comfortably and watch the water. The kitchen is pretty well equipped although there is no dishwasher. We had a great vacation!

We refused to stay. Bugs and cobwebs in foyer next to a full canister of the vacuum. Filthy door leading to living area. Thick layer of dirt and grime on smoke dedector. Carpet ripped up by door on screened porch. Double pane patio door windows leaked and stained. Weeds grown up in enkept lawn. Vrbo states a/c but that is only on dining porch. Chair covers looked like someone wrestled on them. Dirty door tracks. Rusty heat vent covers. Delapidated furniture with broken down seats. Trash under back steps. Paint peeling on exterior. Duct tape holding screen in, in master bedrooom. I took 42 pictures of why we didnt stay. And stated owner was a premier host. Smh!

Great location. Nice private beach. Quick response by host. Close to Kennebunkport and Portland. The Lobster Co. is close for fresh seafood including live lobster. Cooked many seafood dinners in the well equipped kitchen including a large lobster pot. Public beach was fantastic and within walking distance. If you’re into antiquing, you’re in luck. Would definitely recommend, we stayed in the big house (Sea Haven).

The views and proximity to private beach is phenomenal!! The location is sublime.

Wow! This oceanfront cottage is right on a beautiful private beach with amazing views. We spent most of our time sitting on the deck enjoying the sound of the ocean waves. Our dogs loved running on the adjacent beach. Communication with owner was excellent. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Wonderful home with lots of character. The location right on the ocean was incredible. From the sun porch downstairs we had a beautiful view of rocks in a cove with incredible sunsets. upstairs in the sleeping sun porch the same view was available and if you looked out the side window you had a view of the ocean and beautiful sunrises. The home was clean and well equipped. Very relaxing stay

Relax and forget your worries
This is the ideal place to spend some time to unwind. We took complete advantage of the back deck overlooking the ocean. The constant crashing of waves was so soothing and made everything melt away for us. Suzanne is great! She is a treasure trove of information of the area and great to communicate with. Can’t wait to visit again in the future. Thanks for letting us stay at your home.

Wonderful stay
Our family had a wonderful stay here! The house was as described and matched the photos well. My kids were a little disappointed that the beach had a "smell" but it was after a few storms and the seaweed that was washed up may have been more than usual. If we were staying longer I probably would have spent some time raking the seaweed so there was a cleaner path to the ocean for my kids (although they still crunched right through it). We still spent some time at the beach out front but also enjoyed the much larger (and no seaweed) Fortunes Rocks beach just around the corner. I loved the bedroom overlooking the ocean and enjoyed my coffee on the deck each morning. We had a quick Labor Day weekend stay but it was very relaxing. Would absolutely stay again!

Spectacular location -authentic Maine cottage
Sea Haven borders a private cove with calm waters and a sand beach even at high tide. Our dogs loved running on the shore and exploring the rocks any time of the day. We kayaked and paddle boarded in the cove when the weather was fierce and ventured out into the Gulf to explore the coastline when the seas settled down. The authentic Maine cottage is rustic and charming in a myriad of ways. The property has been in the owner's family for years, and boasts an ecclectic mix of Maine treasures. Many of the rooms and the protected deck have 180 degree views of the nearby cove, rock islands, and distant coastline. Lobster boats amble by and we sighted two bald eagles in the neighbors treetops. We had everything we could want without ever leaving the property, yet Fortunes Rock beach -with its miles long strand of soft white sand just half a mile away- beckoned for surfing and evening dogwalks. Sea Haven is paradise!

Wonderful family vacation!
We had such a wonderful time during our stay! The location can’t be beat- it is just steps away from a beautiful beach (that we had all to ourselves!) which you can see and hear from every room of the house. We all loved listening to the waves at night. The house itself was fun to explore, with more than enough room for our family of 4. Suzanne was so kind and considerate- she sent information about the area ahead of our stay and checked in mid-week to make sure everything was going well. The grocery store and great restaurants were close by. We’re already looking at our calendar for next year to visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seaside Haven. The owner was always accessible by email and extremely responsive. She provided wonderful insights for every aspect of our trip. We'd certainly recommend for your Maine escape.

Unique Gem with amazing views
We were delighted with the house, its location on a lovely private beach and proximity to all the things we know and love in Biddeford and surrounding areas. My sister and I have been bringing our children to this area of Maine and even our grouchy teens were overjoyed and relaxed in this beautiful house. There were a million little amazing quirky touches and you could tell the property was well loved and had some stories to tell. The neighbors were welcoming and friendly and the owner and property manager were very responsive. I look forward to returning and we were all sad to say goodbye, what a lovely start to summer!

It is a very nice place the view is breathtaking
We loved our stay (5 adults) 4 small dogs) it is one of the more dated places we have stayed but we still had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Suzanne and property manager were A+. The only thing if you get hot easy is bring a fan or too of your own the middle abs back bedroom do stay pretty warm. You also need do be very careful going go to he beachfront the rocks are very loose. I have cancer and older so not great balance, but I did it a few times with assistance! It truly is the perfect place to relax but also within 15-40 min of any shops, tours, restaurants and stores you may need ! I really think you’ll love it and the public beach is just a few block walk and that is a lovely walk and gorgeous beach. Thank you so much for making our stay so easy ☀️🌊♥️💯

Perfect Fall Getaway!!!!!
My family had a great weekend getaway!!!!! Location was perfect!!!! Our family enjoyed walking the small beach steps away from the house as well as the much larger beach a short drive away. Suzanne was a great host with constant communication leading up to our stay. If we return again in the fall we’ll be staying here again!!!!!

The view was amazing and the location.
Needed attention inside and outside. There was a problem with plugging any modern items in like a blow dryer. Could use new furniture and rearranged so that sitting room had the view of the ocean. Weeds were terrible including up to the door steps. Garage can was full so we couldn't put anything in the container.

Perfect location
The ocean front location is perfect and we could take our dog down to the beach to swim. Some people complained about the rocky path down to the beach. Hey, it's Maine, get past it. The house is comfy. We would probably make some changes if it was ours, which is why we did not give it 5 stars. Tile in the entry foyer would give it a more welcome clean feel and not trap sand and dirt from the outside. The sun room would be better as a sitting room especially since there is another dining area. The kitchen could use a little organization. The house overall was very clean. The master bedroom was cozy. Ironically probably less furniture would give the place a better appearance. Overall we had a great time.

Beautiful view
Location on the cove is gorgeous and quiet. Neighborhood is great. Beds were very comfortable. My balance isn’t that good and my dog is old so she and I couldn’t make it down the ramp to the cove. Suzanne was very helpful.

Great View - Dirty House
The view of the ocean is amazing. Other than that, the pictures are old and deceiving. I understand this is an old Beach Home but the property is not taken care of properly. The house was very dirty and very hot. The upstairs bedroom has a beautiful view, but the windows facing the ocean do not open, therefore, there is no flow of air, making it difficult to sleep. There are two sliding glass doors in each side of the bedroom and we wanted to block out the sun during the day, but the sliding blinds were all broke so we could not block out the hot sun. Some windows opened but had no screens, so we could not get any air to flow through the house. There are 3 bedrooms, but 2 of the bedrooms are divided by a curtain (no privacy). Also, the TV in the main bedroom did not work. I called the owner and she got in touch with Direct TV, called me back and told be to try a couple things, which did not work. She spoke with them again and then wanted me to unhook the box and cords from the downstairs TV and hook them to the upstairs TV. I told her that I was on vacation and it wasn't that important. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the upstairs shower leaking. When we arrived, there were two tarps blocking the hallway to the half bath. We had workers there on Mon. and fixed the problem but left the tarps up. Therefore, we only had one bathroom and the tarps, once again, stopped the air from flowing through the house. As for the beach, you have to walk over a wooden walkway, but beware, after the walkway it's all dangerous rocks to get to the beach. When it is low tide, forget about going into the water because it's all rocks. All in all this could be a great summer rental. All it needs is a little TLC, to fix things that are broken, and definitely get a new house cleaner.

Wonderful place
Wow! We had such a great time. We couldn't ask for better weather for the private beach. Thank you so much Suzanne for easing our concerns with staying during the stay at go.e orders. We appreciate your fantastic hospitality and your excellent communication. We will absolutely be coming back to stay.

Nice but very hard beach access.
Beautiful views, nice cottage, owner very helpful. However, access to beach next to cottage is practically inaccessible, dangerous path down to beach.

Great place to stay on the water
Had a great experience staying here.

Lovely Location but...
The small deck has a stunning view of the ocean and rocks. It's the best part of this property. The second best is that its only steps away from a lovely private beach.
The interior of the property is sorely in need of a serious update. Much of the furniture looks like it came from a thrift store back in the 80's. Luckily there is a clean leather sofa in the living room.
The property needs a major cleaning...windows...and especially carpets.
The owner was very responsive to our calls and texts. She couldn't be nicer.

Beautiful Location!!
My family and I enjoyed our short stay at Fortunes Rock!! Loved the expansive views of the ocean from the dining room and bedroom windows. It was very peaceful watching and hearing the waves roll in. Suzanne (the owner) was very responsive and helpful offering a variety of suggestions on places to go visit. We loved visiting the scenic towns of Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach and Ogunquit which were close by. The house was older but charming and clean. We would definitely come back here and stay in the future.

Relaxing and comfortable
I vacationed with my mother and a friend. The cottage is quaint and comfortable.
The small cove was fascinating to watch as the tides rolled in and back out again.
The cottage is not on a main thoroughfare with lots of things in walking distance, which was fine with me , I could just sit back, relax and listen to the waves crash on the rocks. :-)
I enjoyed my vacation and look forward to visiting again. :-)

Perfect Getaway in an Unbelievable Location
This rental is in a fantastic location with a sea view from nearly every room. We loved watching (and listening) to the waves from the enclosed porch/dining room, the master bedroom and the deck. The private beach is literally steps away, and the larger beach is just a short walk down the street. The beds and couches were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. Suzanne is a great host and she provides an extensive list of local flavor, activities and even history! Elements Book Store, Cape Pier Chowder House and Pizza by Alex are local “must stop” locations. Then of course you have a plethora of things to do in Portland (just over half an hour drive). We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

spacoious, great spot, very pleasant cottage; and Suzanne and Dominic ( manager) were very helpfull
If you want a quiet vacation in a peacefull surrounding this is the spot, close to many interesting trails, restaurants, and very comfortable cottage to prepare meals, and just hang out ; we loved it.

Beautiful view of the Ocean, but the house furnishings need updating.
Excellent location between Portland and Kennibunkport.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this older cottage on the water. The view and setting are great
This a great location, near Kennebunk and Goose Rocks beach. The owner is very helpful with providing local information. Portland is about a 20 minute drive. It's full of great restaurants and shopping on an active port.
We thought the house could use some repairs and a deep cleaning, but when you walk down to the beach the property is on, or enjoy coffee or wine on the deck, it's very enjoyable.

Beautiful location but older home
First I would like to say this Home is in a beautiful location I enjoyed the views. I didn’t like that you couldn’t open windows to enjoy the sounds of the water. The home itself is dated a little paint and updating is needed. The furnishings are also quite dated. We had a Few issues with Home but the owner did all she could to fix the issues we left a day early because of an issue with Home but the owner did give us our last days money back which was mice of her. And the location was mice close to a lot of nice places.

Location, Location Location!!!
My husband and I stayed at Sea Haven for a nice long weekend. I give it 5 stars for the location. The house is right on the ocean with your own private little beach and a short 5-minute walk to the public beach. We loved walking down on the beach with our dog everyday. The only draw back is the house is very outdated the windows are old and the screens had holes in them. We would stay at Sea Haven again

Spectacular views
I'm so glad I found the Sea Haven!! My husband and I spent 3 nights on a much needed get away. Upon arrival we were thrilled to see that pictures don’t lie! The Sea Haven is truly situated oceanfront, with a small private cove along the side of the house. This spot is a very private one too. The views of the water from the many windows in the house was just spectacular! Especially the view from the master bedroom - panoramic! The house felt very roomy. There is a bathroom on the main floor as well as one upstairs - and they were kept very clean. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots & pans, coffee maker, and microwave. It was very comfortable and homey. The owner; Suzanne, was very helpful with a wealth of information to make the visit complete - and very kind indeed. I hope to get back for a visit soon!

Fabulous!
Rented the house for 5 days with 2 friends and my dog. We all just loved it. The house had everything we needed and the views are just plain stunning. Having the little private beach was lovely and the big beach one minute's drive away is spectacular and great for a long walk in the evenings. It was easy to get to Kennebunkport and Portland and lots of other interesting places. All 4 of us would love to return. Highly recommended.
