Chalet Lalpedu was a perfect place to stay with fabulous views across the valley. We were 2 families of 4 and it was warm, comfortable and really well equipped with fabulous showers. The property is looked after by Marion who lives next door and she is absolutely lovely and really helpful. It has good wifi as well as apple tv/netflixs. Just be aware the very top floor bedroom has a low ceiling so would be better for children than adults. The owner was really helpful and quickly answered all our questions before we arrived.
There are 2 ski lockers available for use at Paganon (Centre Station) which is right beside the Alpe Express gondola which takes you to Bergers. Bergers has lovely easy nursery slopes so is a good location to book lessons if you are a total beginner. Otherwise the main area for lessons/lifts is DMC and it is easily reached from the ski lockers in the "Lobster Pot" lift which is a minute's walk from the ski locker. It's a steep 10-15 minute uphill walk from the chalet to the ski lockers but you can catch the free bus from the end of the road to the lockers (Ligne 1) - just check the timings because the bus only runs about once an hour. There is a well equipped Spar in the centre of Alpe D'Huez (beside the outdoor swimming pool) (about a 20 minute walk from the chalet) and the free bus runs along the road in front of the spar to the end of the chalet's road. We really liked the chalet's location with its amazing views and it was really quiet but it is towards the edge of Alpe D'Huez so not as convenient for the nightlife if that's what you want. Having said that, the night bus does run in the evenings from the end of the road.
My only other recommendation would be to avoid flying into/out of Grenoble airport if you possibly can and use Lyon airport instead (only 20 min further transfer). Well worth it to avoid the absolute chaos and queues from hell!
Nothing!

Space, the view, the upstairs bedrooms.
Th double beds were too small, there were broken floor boards, and the lighting was overly harsh

The Chalet was a large property and was available to accommodate a family of 5 people comfortably. There were good views of the mountains from the property and overall was a comfortable location for us to reside over the Xmas period.
The location for skiing was a bit of a challenge due to a significant hill climb each morning, which ranged from steep icy conditions to powder snow if it had a snowfall the morning before. For younger children this would be extremely challenging.
Inside the property the overall decor was very basic, compared to pricing of 5 star hotels (Chamois D’Or) the pricing would have been comparable although you would have attained a luxurious standard of accommodation and facilities.
On arriving at the Chalet at 6pm with plenty of advanced notice given to our arrival time the Chalet was freezing as no heating was on and had to turn all heaters on to warm the Chalet over a number of hours, it would also be useful to have some drying up towels for further guests as was surprised we had to purchase these for the property, if I had known I would have bought some from home.
Lastly although I appreciate an internal stairway had been installed, it gave little room for people who are tall to climb upstairs as at times my boys had to crawl to miss the roofing, so it seemed more of a makeshift stairway.
Overall a basic chalet, quite highly priced due to comparative properties available and also would have been good to have know that £1000 deposit is req’d on arrival in advance of our stay.
