About this house rental
This is our sixth year and we continue to update annually. In March 2024 the 1st floor Primary Bath was completely renovated to include a walk-in shower with bypass glass doors and a fold-down seat, double vanity, matching mirrors, undermounted sinks, marble countertop, an ADA-height toilet and porcelain tiled floor. Also, the 2nd floor full bath received a new 42"w vanity, single sink, ceramic countertop, and 42"w wall mirror.
ALSO, we are scheduling construction during the Spring of 2025s 'off season' to add a new dormered second floor bedroom with HVAC split units dedicated to this floor. We'll finish the 2nd floor full bath by installing an ADA-height toilet, finish the tiling the floor, and add a subway tile backsplash over the sink. This will take place between 01 March and 26 April 2025, therefore, we have blocked off these dates on our calendar. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause potential guests, however, we're looking forward to the addition of a queen-sized bedroom! Thanks for your understanding, and we hope you decide to stay with us following construction!!!
We have a beautifully updated two-story single-family home with private sand beach on Lake Erie!
Although we're off the beaten path, it's a great place to relax and enjoy family time by creating lasting memories! Enjoy magnificent sunsets and sunrises from your private beach! This area is known for abundant fishing (don't forget your Ohio fishing license) and adventurous boating experiences.
Explore Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, nationally known in American Birding circles as host to thousands of bird watchers each spring and fall. Enjoy a fast-paced day at Cedar Point amusement park. Or slow it down a bit by taking the kids to African Safari Wildlife Park, Lagoon Deer Park or Toledo Zoo.
Take the Jet Express to Put-In-Bay and hike (or rent a golf cart), and climb Admiral Perry's monument in Put-In-Bay, or enjoy an adult beverage in the Island's many pubs and winery. Submerge yourself in solitude by kayaking around South Bass (Put-In-Bay) or Kelley's Islands. From Put-In-Bay take the Goodtime Ferry to Kelley's Island to hike or golf cart your way to discover the world famous Glacial Grooves.
Back on the mainland, take a dip from your private sand beach before grilling dinner and enjoying company on your wood deck.
Later check out the sunset, and close the night by sharing your day's experiences in the Lanai overlooking Lake Erie.
Come and stay with us a while. You'll be glad you did!

Love this place!!! The home is spacious, the beds are comfortable, the lanai is the most incredible room, everything you need is probably there, and the water is right outside the door. We didn’t want a boardwalk type vacation. This home is exactly what we were looking for. You’re tucked away on Lake Erie where you can actually relax and watch the sunset. It’s very private and peaceful. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly. The private beach is amazing. We could float in the water without worrying about sharks. My 7 yr old son was happy it was unsalted water. Tons of room for activities on the cement patio like collecting sea glass or fossils. I highly recommend this home for your next vacation. Especially if you have children. It’s truly a hidden gem.

Location was great, house had everything we needed and more. Lots of places to relax. Just wish the beach wasn’t so rocky. Pre check in phone call was not necessary. Everything spoken about was listed in the agreement. But overall would stay again.

This house was a perfect fit for our family. Plenty of room and clean. Beach area was awesome!

Our family had a lovely time together staying at Whit’s end, We had a small issue that the owners promptly addressed and fixed. The patio and firepit on the water were a nice addition to the end of each day.

This was a beautiful setting for our family vacation! we all had a wonderful time together.

Roomy for out 3 familiers. Kids loved the beach. Adults had long converations on the beach patio by a fire pit.
Great trips to Magee Marsh. Nice museum. Day trips to Kelly Island and Cedar point. Plenty of eating space. Well equiped. Quiet area. Nice walking area.

We appreciated being able to all sit in the comfy living room together. We also enjoyed the dining table with 10 place sittings.
We did have a bit of trouble getting use to the throw rugs/runners placed on the carpet. Several of us tripped but thankfully no falls.

We enjoyed our stay during the time of the 2024 eclipse. There was enough room for our extended family (8 adults, 2 children). With multiple large tables, one could always be used for board games, and others for meals. The house has games and puzzles inside and beach toys for outside. The private beach area with the firepit was great for our family.

The house was nice and big, if a bit dated with a few quirks, but a great location on Lake Erie. Very nice neighborhood. A fabulous winery called Gideon nearby! The hosts requested $25 extra for housekeeping AFTER we disclosed the number of guests and had paid the agreed upon cost. I complained about this hidden cost and after some back and forth they did rescind the fee. The hosts sent us 15 messages full of very detailed information and instructions. LOTS of notes in the house too including how to open the screen door, how to use the grill, flush the toilet and what to set the thermostat at (73). We were even asked to wash out the inside of the outdoor garbage cans! The hosts DEMANDED a personal phone call prior to the stay. This was after we had to send photocopies of our drivers licenses and sign a 6 page contract. The contract said the door code would be sent 1 week before our stay. 4 days before our stay, the host asked for a personal phone call to discuss all the rules. I had a very very busy week I did not have time for a phone call to explain the rules - especially after the copious amount of communication we’d already endured. I asked to avoid this phone call. The host refused to release the door code to me unless I made time in my schedule to talk to him on the phone. The hosts made this stay unpleasant before it had began. Honestly, the house was fine, but I would not recommend anyone stay here due to the hosts behavior.

Fred and Cheryl’s place was just as they described it, we had a great time!

You can tell that these are experienced hosts. Every wall switch is labeled. Every kitchen drawer and cabinet is labeled. There are little cards with instructions for how to work everything. There is a book on the table with information about the house and anything you might be looking for in the area. I forgot sunscreen; there was a cabinet full of it. The house is well-stocked, clean, and comfortable with plenty of spaces for those who want to be together and those who need some alone time. The private beach has warm sand, sunny places, shady places, swimming suitable for any skill level, and a great view of the lake. There are basic restaurants within a few miles and for more options, Toledo is only 40 minutes away (we got Uzbek food there). There is some residential noise and an occasional jet ski, but quite serene compared to the constant noise of the more touristy locations. Bottom line: It was a lovely stay.

This was an excellent vacation at the lake! Our own beach which we enjoyed DAILY. Even bad weather was better at the lake! But we didn't really have any bad weather ;)
Fred and Cheryl were thorough and the house was very clean with lots of room. Close to everything! We would definitely recommend and would stay again!

My family of four had a wonderful vacation at this property. The house was so comfortable and clean. We spent everyday outside enjoying the beach space. My kids loved playing in the sand and swimming. The patio at the top of the beach is really nice and even has a table to sit down and eat at. Inside the house, we found the beds very comfortable. There is also a very nice couch and two love seats that can recline. These were great to relax on after we had come in for the evening. Don't hesitate to book this property. We ended up with so many great memories from this trip.

The description on VRBO was very accurate. The owner was very solicitous of our needs and welcoming. The home was very welcoming and comfortable and felt just like home.

Great property just a few steps from the lake with a private beach. Very comfortable home with everything you could possibly need. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Fred and Cheryl are great hosts. Wonderful house with awesome location. We stay every year and plan on returning.

Two couples spent a week birding in the area with this as our home base. It was very convenient to Magee Marsh and Ottawa. Most important was proximity to the Barnside Creamery! Though not luxurious, it was very comfortable and very well stocked- there must have been at least 6 sizes of frying pans. Everything is well labelled. Fred and Cheryl were very good at keeping in touch. We were not there for the lake, but great private beach.

This was an amazing trip, the place was super nice, the owners are amazing.

We had a great time during our stay. It was nice that the beach was right out the door. Although, I was surprised there was a road that ran between the house and the beach entrance. Not busy at all, but just couldn’t tell that from the pictures or description. The house was clean and homey. Felt like we were staying with. Friend or relative instead of a rental.

Place was very clean. Plenty of space for everyone. Fred and Carol were more then accommodating

We had a great time at Fred and Cheryl’s house, it was well-appointed and great proximity to the lake. Really enjoyed listening to the wind and waves, especially at night!

Three high school friends and myself had a lovely three night visit at this great beach house. A bottle of wine greeted us.
The house is set up to accommodate many more people for sleeping and dining as well as lots of room to sit on the Lanai and inside.
There is a small beach immediately in front of the house which is perfect for a small group. We found some very nice pieces of beach glass.
The Magee bird sanctuary and another Wildlife reserve, within a mile of Magee, are close by.
We spent a day at Put in Bay, a great place for shopping and eating and another half day at the Marblehead lighthouse.
Good places to eat are within a half hour in Port Clinton to the east and a bit further in Perrysburg to the west.
But if you are just looking for a great place to settle in, and visit with family or friends, this place fits the bill. You can enjoy sunrise and sunset. Beds are plentiful and comfy. Games are provided. Kitchen is well equipped. It has everything you want or need except for the food.

The House sits in a pleasant location on Lake Erie and the views from the screened in patio and upstairs are really nice. The neighborhood is peaceful and secluded. Little to no traffic. Older house that’s kept up relatively well and has a comfortable feel about it. Tastefully decorated with beach and lake items. You have your own little private beach. We did not swim, but the owner has furnished plenty of beach items for the kids. Bedrooms are spacious and comfy. The kitchen is well stocked with most everything you will need for your stay. There is a wonderful pizza place and also a great ice cream place nearby with plenty of options nearby.

Great, comfortable house close to Magee Marsh and many other birding destinations! Very spacious and comfortable for 3 couples. Each couple had their own bathroom which really simplified the morning routine. Plenty of seating in the living areas for playing board games or having meals together. Make sure to read the multiple page document on the fridge about the quirks of the house, it is helpful. Owners are very helpful and responsive to questions. Parking is a little tight for larger vehicles as road is narrow and not a whole lot of room to swing out and into the garage. We made it work though.
Hair strainers for the tubs could use replacement and being able to open the garage from the outside would have been nice, but overall I recommend staying here and would definitely book again.

The home is well kept and clean. The location is right where we were wanting to be. Boat ramps in every direction, and the little neighborhood was cute. The beds were very comfortable, but the check in process was not good. Directions he gave for boat parking did not work. The communication from the owners were too much. He was texting me around 11PM at night about something with the thermostat. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we got there, and it almost seemed like there wasn’t a turnover service…way too many chores at checkout. Nice views though and loved the area.
