Really helpful and pleasant staff. They really made the stay special.
Nothing really. Room was quite small but perfectly adequate. Comfy bed.

The noise from a wedding party.

The whole house and the staff were brilliant. Beds are very comfortable and good coffee for the machine.
The location is a bit remote and hard to get to with public transport.

Excellent breakfast and comfy bed. On site parking
Long walk to room with stairs to deal with when carrying 2 bags is an issue. Room decor was VERY tired, and I maintain that climbing into and out of a bath to take a shower is a health and safety issue these days.

The location
No lifts and despite informing them of mobility issues still 30 stairs down and up to disabled room
In room no bin in bathroom , tiny basin so you couldn’t fill the kettle with water , no hooks in bathroom at all no toilet roll holder in fact nothing you would expect . Staff were wonderful but rest of hotel very disappointing and dreadful breakfast

Staff very friendly, location was perfect for my needs. Plenty of parking and pleasant grounds. Food quality good
Cleanliness of the hotel, yes it is old but the carpeting especially on main staircase in house is very dirty and does not present a good image. In the bedroom the bed was clean but the shower curtain smelt and there was rubbish from the previous occupant in the bedroom. Limited toiletries and no tissues also had to remind them to refill milk and coffee

Did not arrive until 10.00pm so too late for dinner but breakfast was very good, nearly didn't book it as it is £15.00 but the full English was good with various fruits and normal breakfast bits and bobs available.
We had a simple room but it was very comfortable and a decent size, the bed was excellent.
Not a problem for us but there are no lifts to the upper floors (only two) but this is clearly explained on their booking page.

The outside looked welcoming. Staff was welcoming to some extent.
The bed was terrible, sunk on one side, ripped mattress, Bed sheet didn’t fit, bathroom had a horrid dirty shower curtain, water went everywhere.
The walls were all damaged, dirty floors. Food around the bed on the floor. Shall I continue ?

Absolutely beautiful building. Lots of character, if needful of a little sprucing up here and there. Plenty of parking. We were in the Paddington room on the second floor of the main house. Good WiFi, plenty of hot water, and a little peeling paintwork. Relatively small room but with Nespresso, kettle, iron and ironing board, hairdryer. Staff can't do enough for you and are absolutely lovely.
Shower was a little dated and in January, the room was a bit too warm for us. You can't adjust the radiator temperature. Not much in the way of restaurants in walking distance unless you eat at the hotel.

The hotel was tired, cold and unwelcoming. I had always wanted to stay here as in part the hotel features in one of my favourite films ‘The Devil Rides Out’ staring Christopher Lee. I had also booked as online as the hotel looked comfortable and as a Laura Ashley decorated hotel, I thought it would be nice attired. I had also booked the hotel as it wasn’t far from Harry Potter World, which we had visited that afternoon and which was a fanatic experience as it was our daughter’s 7th birthday. When I booked, I’d asked for a twin and double and was assured that both rooms would either be next to each other to close by. However, upon arrival we found that the twin was at the furthest end of the hotel which made life difficult (ask the hotel is vast). We couldn’t change this as the hotel was almost full. Both rooms were cold and on the way to the twin room the corridors in the hotel were freezing as we booked in November. We had dinner in the hotel which was ok, but it was expensive for what it was and the menu was extremely sparse of variety. Very little for vegetarians. The red wine was cold, when served. We both had an extremely uncomfortable night as my wife stay with our daughter in the twin room and I stayed in the double. My room was cold and the bed poor, so much so that I tried to sleep on the floor which proved impossible. My wife had a better night so drove us home the next morning. The breakfast was reasonable, but the eggs were underdone and mushrooms burnt. It was not a good experience at the hotel at all and extremely disappointing. Would I stay there again - defiantly not!
The hotel, beedrooms, food and ambaince.

We chose the hotel because of its location, conveniently close to a party elsewhere.
1. Grubby fire doors
2. Torn bedroom curtain
3. Basin's slow drainage (ie partially blocked)
4. Waiter walked away as we were ordering coffee - no obvious reason

Superb Hotel in a Fantastic Location, ideal for Elstree Aerodrome & Elstree Studios. Very Well Appointed Bedrooms & Gardens are nicely landscaped. Restaurant was impressive & Food was excellent.
Would recommend as possibly the Best Hotel in the Elstree/Borehamwood/Watford Area.
On the Saturday Evening the Car Parks were all full with no spaces available !!!! ( Lots of Cars but I did notice that some Cars were badly parked & if residents had parked a bit more considerately a few more cars would have been parked )
Next time I will ask if I can land the Helicopter on the Large Chess Patio ( instead of using Elstree Aerodrome ) this would have saved me hiring a car as well ;-)

The features were very nice, very spacious, room was a good size, it was clean.
Some parts need a touch of paint and carpets could be changed.

The property was fine
Travelling as a transgender woman, I found the receptionist to be unwelcoming. This may be his normal demeanour, or it may have been due to some discomfort dealing with a transgender woman . I would suggest he is not suited to the job for a receptionist, unless he has a lot of training, develops a smile and a little bit of Smalltalk. other staff were okay, but really need to be better trained

Location for a concert at Wembley and also able to accommodate our dog
The room we had was a bit run down in places but was great to get the dog out to the grassy areas

free parking.. although my car was damaged whilst parked outside in hotel grounds.
we did inclusive dinner with bottle of wine - but the first night the wine was not to our liking and i got a very bad bout of diarrhoea i believe from the scallops that were not fresh and mostly raw
the rack of lamb consisted of three very thin chops that were over cooked without much meat and mostly fat and bone - was not worth £29.00 and different to what was served 6 months ago - chef is also very slow and had to wait a very long time to be served at breakfast and dinner - there is a la carte breakfast
and I did not see banana first day - second breakfast the one banana was bad inside -
second night was better dinner..
the breakfasts were poor both days and cappuccino cold and undrinkable as did not taste good - green tea that cost £4.50 was made using tap water that gave bad taste ..
we had arranged late check out when room booked 2 Dec and to pay for extra hours but reception and housekeeping claimed not to be aware and the manageress was away..
biggest upset was the very bad diarrhoea and car getting damaged parked on hotel forecourt ..
The cappuccino tasted very bad and very cold - worst ever from their machine - tea at £4.50 was rip off and also made with bad tasting tap water -
have to carry your own luggage and many times the person in reception is not there as helping in bar or other ..
Unacceptable to make guests sick with diarrhoea from eating dinner..
there should be stricter control and security for cars parked on forecourt to help avoid guests cars getting damaged .. it is not acceptable not to take responsibility for damage

The Manor still retains lots of original features. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Not enough staff at breakfast. Long waits to order and then receive food.
