About this apartment rental
Welcome to Turtles Rest condo, located right on the Caribbean Sea with all the amenities of home. Fully renovated by new owners in 2019, it has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths, with the upstairs bedroom also functioning as a family room with a 65" Smart TV, PS-4, Atari, WII, DVD player, and lots of fun games and things to do when spending time out of the sun. Close to 2 grocery stores & the main road from Christiansted to Fredericksted. On site pool & restaurant & You can snorkel right from our beach.
St Croix is a wonderful island with so many things to enjoy, see, taste and experience. Each month a local guide to St. Croix is published and you can pick these up when you de-plane at the airport. We also suggest you pick up a pocket map and other brochures that they will have on the stands when walking to get you luggage at the airport.
The other thing that is a must do is to stop by the Cruzan Rum Factory booth and sample a shot of our famous Cruzan Rum. It's a great little taste of what is to come on your island vacation.
The other must do is visit this link, it's the best way to see what the island has to offer and what is happening during your stay on the island.
The island has everything you will need during your stay. Here is some of the things you will need to know about:
Map of St. Croix - It's not a big island, but a map is still an important thing to have. Here is a link that may help, but make sure to pick up a map as well. Cell Service is spotty and GPS does not always work.
KEEP LEFT WHEN DRIVING
Probably one thing that most of us from the U.S. have never done and is driven on the left hand side of the road. It can be a challenge at first, but just remember to keep your left shoulder closest to the side of the road, opposite of home for most of us. The hardest thing to remember is when you are taking a right, to go one lane past where you normally turn. Just remember to keep it in the left hand lane. Also don't turn right on red, but you can turn left on red at most intersections. We use Budget Rent-a-Car when on island. If you have a frequent flyer card, like an American Airlines card, you can really cash in on some extra points. The cars have always been clean and well cared for.
Grocery Stores
Cost you Less - Much like a Sams Club or BJ's without the membership requirements
Pueblo East - A grocery store located very close to the condominium, but you will still need a car to get there. This is your typical grocery store, good produce and fruit, a decent meat selection and stock all of your regular items like paper goods, staples, canned goods, cheese and meats, the regular stuff in any grocery store. They tend to be less expensive than some of the other grocery stores on the island. This is one of the best places to stock up on wine, beer and liquor at good prices.
Foodtown - A smaller grocery store, a little bit more expensive than Pueblo, but has a great bakery, meat selection, and beer and wine specials. The closest grocery to the condo.
Plaza West and Plaza East - These are very nice grocery stores with a large selection of almost anything you could want or need. We find the one on the way to Frederiksted (Plaza West) to have the best prices for groceries on the island and it is our go to for most of our grocery needs. They have a wonderful meat market and selection so if you want a good steak, go here.
Seaside Market - A specialty grocery store, just east of Christiansted, with a huge wine selection and a great meat selection as well as Deli. They are much more expensive than the other places you can shop on the island, but their quality is very good.
Quality - A good place to get meat and produce as well as other staples.
Places To Eat
There are great restaurants all over the island. Here are a list of just a few, don't forget to pick up the dining guide when you deplane, it has a very thorough list and will help you decide. They also have a map of where everything is located.
Some of our favorites would include:40 Strand - Higher end, absolutely wonderful food
Kim's - Very good. Give yourself some is cooked to order
Blue Water Terrace - Nice views of the sea and good food, a little pricey, but good
Brew STX - Good food, if you get chicken wings, toss the bones into the sea and here come the Tarpon Fish, they are huge and love the bones
Maria's Mexican - Good food and Taco Tuesdays are good
Paradise Grill - Great food, outdoor seating only, great prices and staff
Tap Deck Bar and Billiards - In Frederiksted and one of the best places to have a drink and watch the sunset. Located close to Rainbow Beach which has great sunsets, but here you can have a drink eat some great food and also walk the cruise ship pier. The food is amazing and the drinks are very very good, she makes all her own mixes and they are outstanding.
Blues BBQ - More than BBQ, probably one of the best burgers on the island. They have live music most nights and it's a great community place to gather. Great Blue Margarita
Double D's - Great place and they have Kobe Burgers. They have daily drink and food specials and we found it rather inexpensive for more of a dining experience and they have an indoor area that is air conditioned, which makes it nice if you don't want to sit outside in the courtyard.
Rhythms at Rainbow Beach - Full bar and restaurant. Great place to watch the sunset and also has a nice beach. You can rent jet ski's right next door.

Fun This To Do
Here are a few of our favorites
Norma's Beer Drinking Pig - A must see
Crab Races - You can "rent" a hermit crab for the race, it costs $2 or $3 and it's so much fun to watch. They have these at a couple of places in St. Croix, we usually go to the Boardwalk on Monday's, which is the closest to the condo. It's fun, Google Crab Races in St. Croix to see more.
All Day Tour to Buck Island - Big Beards is our favorite and we love Capt. Mike Hocker, he is so much fun. The all day trip is the one to take and they provide lessons to snorkel and all the gear plus all you can drink rum punch and lunch. Good for all ages.
Cruzan Rum Tour - A great experience and at the end of the tour, you can sample the different kinds of rum and even get some for the trip home. Great souvenirs and information, lots of fun.
RJS Jewelry - Located on Strand Street, a great local jewelry store and the place to get the famous "Hook Bracelets" as well as other designs.
Sea Glass Hunting - Before Maria, the sea glass was much more prevalent on the beaches. We like to go out past Rainbow Beach and look for glass. For best results, look for a rocky beach.
Sandy Point Park - A beautiful beach and a great place to sunbath. You will see places where the Turtles nest and they are all numbered. It is closed from mid March until September because the turtles are nesting, but if you go in February or the first part of March, you may see turtles.
Horseback Riding - The Cruzan Cowgirls as well as others are available. A great time for all. Cruzan Cowgirls is located at Rainbow Beach in Frederiksted
Point Udal - A must see, but be ready to get up really early. Located on the east side, it's the eastern point in the United States and it's breathtakingly beautiful. Even has a beach you can walk to but it's not a walk that's easy, all downhill, but worth the trip.
Divi Casino - The only full service casino on the island. They have slots and table games plus the bar makes one of the best margaritas on this island and drinks are free as long as your playing.
Deep End Bar & Grill - A great bar and brill right on Cane Bay and it's so beautiful there. Some of the best diving in the world is at Cane Bay and the Deep End Bar and Grill has really good pub food. They also have Bingo on Tuesday Nights and it can really pay off if you win the last game "cover all". When we were there the price was over $1700 in cash.
Thomas Bakery - So good and located close to Sunny Isle. A must have is their Butter Bread and Coconut Drops.
Mill Harbour Pool - Our condominium complex has a beautiful fresh water pool and it has a 10' end as well as the shallow end for the kids. It's located right on property and the Coral Sea Restaurant is right there, so getting something to eat and drink is easy.
St. Croix Leap - Located on the west end, it's in the middle of the Mahogany Forest and a wonderful experience. They are not always open, but they have some beautiful items made from mahogany. It's a working woodshop/mill.
Play Follow the Road - This is our way of telling you to "Go Explore The Island" One of the things we enjoy the most is playing "Follow the Road". Make sure you don't get onto a 4 wheel drive road as it will tear up your rental car, but you need to go see this special island and stop at all of the places that are so beautiful it will take your breath away.
Since the condo has a fully equipped kitchen, you may want to try out some Cruzan Recipes as well as mix up some Cruzan Rum Drinks. Once you book your stay we will email you these 2 PDF files.
We hope this helps start your visit to St. Croix.
We are always available to help if you have questions.

Susan was so welcoming and kind. She was available for any questions or to make suggestions to where to get a bite or nice spots on the island. There were lots of supplies available for fun in the water. The kitchen was well equipped to make meals. Everyone slept comfortably, the beds a linens were great quality.

This property was above and beyond what I was expecting! I loved being able to grill out for my family at the local grill and yet do in house cooking as well! The space was ample for my family and very accommodating for the children. The owners did a superb job of communicating and providing us with all that we needed. The beautiful sounds of the ocean waves and the short walk to the private beach was AMAZING! Thanks again for such a lovely home!

It is a good place to stay as a family. Two levels give you all privacy. The condo has everything you need to the smallest detail. You will get a complete set of very detailed instructions from the owner along with ideas for what to do and where to eat on St Croix, so you will definitely not be lost. It saved us time and money to cook at the condo, so we appreciated the kitchen with appliances. There was a bottle of rum and juice for us to make cocktails if we wanted when we arrived, nice touch.

Susan was wonderful to communicate with before during and after our stay.
It was our family's first time to St. Croix and she sent many tips and tricks our way; must do suggestions, excellent eating places, fun things unique to St. Croix for our children etc.
The condo was perfect for our family. Plenty of space, EXTREMELY well stocked kitchen, beach towels etc.
Check in was super easy, thanks to the instructions and we would definitely stay again.
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

The condo is very safe and the property is gated. The condo is a nice size for two couples. The condo is a great location for things you will want to do. The pool area and ocean is close but you do need to walk to get to them.
This is on the third floor so a hike up and down with bringing things in and out
The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cookware.. the Instant Pot is so nice …
The owners were very helpful and available to answer all our questions
The reason I gave it an overall “4” was the hike up to the third floor.

This was our 1st trip to St. Croix and it did not disappoint! The condo was extremely clean and stocked with everything we needed- beach towels, snorkel equipment, coolers etc. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need to cook to include some food/spices and condiments. Previous guests left a note stating what food they had left and when it was purchased, which I though was great so I did the same. The owners are so nice and easy to reach. Susan helped me for months as I planned the trip by giving me suggestions on things to do during our stay. She went above and beyond. Easy restaurant on site and very close to groceries. Top balcony has a view of the water and a great place to sit. Comfortable, clean, quiet. 10/10!!

I am a researcher who has conducted fieldwork on St Croix since 2018. I have stayed in this condo complex 4 times before 2023. This is the worst managed property I have ever rented on VRBO.
I stayed in this property for 6 weeks in the summer of 2023. Here are some of the problems I faced:
--The property is very overpriced. It is 20% more expensive than the others in the same complex and not any better.
--The complex is run down. The HOA and property owners are not adequately repairing their properties.
--Power outages and water outages are routine. There were several water outages during our stay, some lasting almost 24 hours.
--I stayed here during the hottest days ever recorded on planet earth and owner of this property did nothing to provide drinking water during outages. They told us to go swimming if we felt too hot.
--The roof leaks in this property. Water was dripping down from the ceiling and walls during a rainstorm.
--The owners continually sent repairmen into the unit unannounced to fix the ceiling including an unannounced visit that scared my colleague so bad she had to leave the apartment.
--Despite such lousy service, the owners are trying to charge me an arbitrary $500 because they say we are responsible for damages to the unit without providing any evidence. Rather than refunding me for my troubles, they're trying to charge me even more.
Do not rent this unit unless you want to pay more for a substandard stay with aggressive, vindictive owners.

Susan and Bob have a fantastic property and they were amazing to work with. We had issues flight issues with our flight and they worked with us to make adjustments to our stay. Very friendly. More like family service rather than customer service. We enjoyed staying there so much and look forward to going back.

The view from the top is amazing. The condo was the perfect size, if not too big for our family of four. Susan was reachable and friendly. Our stay was wonderful.

Turtles Rest is a beautiful condo, and it worked out great for our family of 3 teenagers, one toddler and two adults. Susan even had a pack n play, booster seat and high chair ready to utilize for the baby. Very spacious, very beautiful, the kids loved using the pool. Condo was packed with unexpected amenities, especially in the kitchen. Overall, it was a great stay, and a great place to come back to unwind after some very busy days spent enjoying the island. Would definitely return in the future.

Great location and amazing hosts
This condo is perfectly situated near Christensted for convenience to local restaurants, groceries, and attractions. The condo was perfect for our family of 5, which included 3 teenagers.
The attached restaurant is good food and the pool is pristine. The tire reef had better snorkeling than some of the paid attractions.
Lots of leftover snorkel and fishing gear from other tenants (we added a lobster lasso and manual spear) for even more fun. The condo had everything we needed and more to cook meals, including seasonings and some dry goods from other tenants. We cooked many meals and never felt like we didn't have something necessary to prep food.
The hosts are attentive, with easy communication nd great knowledge of the local options. Having a washer/dryer was amazing to clean our swim clothes between dives/snorkeling/swimming. Great attention to detail to make the condo feel like a second home.

Amazing week at Turtle's Rest
It was a lot of space and very well equipped for our party of 4. We really enjoyed the condo, the decks, and having the pool on site as well as easy parking. The only downside to the location was the seasonal sargassum that was washing up on shore, making the beaches there rather unpleasant.

Spectacular Host!
Staying at Turtles Rest was delightful! Susan and Bob were absolutely wonderful hosts, going above and beyond. They kept in touch and made sure we had everything we needed from amenities in the condo to where to tootle around the island to find the best deals and experiences! The condo was cozy and cute! If you love sea turtles, this is the place to be! They did a great job setting us up with TV's, wifi, and all kinds of cooking appliances to make great meals. Susan was a wealth of cooking knowledge. She'll send you a Caribbean cookbook via pdf!! We swam out front of the condo to the light blue water and saw all kinds of sea life! Ha'penny and Cramer beaches are amazing for swimming and just floating. Visit Cane Bay to snorkel. Every time we went out ,there were sting rays you could snap photos of. Super cool! Don' forget to stop by the Coral Sea Restaurant next door, too! Try the fried pickles and Caribbean curry sauce, delicious. If you are looking for a great place to unwind after visiting all the lovely beaches and sites in St. Croix, look no further than Turtles Rest, it's the perfect place to hang out. People there are friendly and you won't be disappointed. We hope you love St. Croix as much as we do! It's a beautiful place.

Perfect for our group!!!
Susan and Bob's Turtle Rest condo was absolutely perfect for our group of 5 Boy Scouts! The upstairs loft bedroom (with curtains to block it off) was exactly suited for the boys, with bunkbeds, tons of board games, video games, and space. Oh and their balcony view was amazing, which is also open to the sun to sunbathe. The view from the master balcony was the same but one floor down and shaded. Susan was great about communicating information that was needed/wanted. Location is great!!! Facilities were nice and we had everything we needed and wanted!!
