Staff were so helpful and went out of their way to help with everything. I had accidentally booked a room with bunk beds and they asked on check in if I wanted to change rooms and they organised another room for us very quickly. The view from the rooftop bar was amazing and we had dinner in the restaurant and the food and service were very good.
Little bit difficult to find the first time - although the tuk tuk driver didn't help and dropped us no where near the front access

There was a beautiful rooftop patio and staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with comfy beds and a private bathroom. It was great value for the cost.
Our room had a small window on the side of the building and did not have direct access to the patio outdoors, as there was another room across from us. This made the room quite stuffy and warm. I would 100% stay here again but request a different room.

We had a very pleasant stay at Mikaso.
The location on the lake was spectacular; our room had an unforgettable view of the Lake, mountains and towns. And we were close to many good cafes, restaurants and activities.
The staff were very friendly and responsive
The room was large, wirh comfortable bedding. The curtains on tbe windows were practically useless, and the sun's powerful rays had us up by 6:30 each morning. The room had fans only (no Air conditioning) which elevated the room temperature quite a bit. We had to open the windows to cool it down at night.
The shower was small and hot water was not easy to figure out. As a result, the water went between hot and cold. But even the "cold" water is not that cold, to be honest..
The restaurant on the upper level (El Gato Perdido) was very nice-we had a delicious dinner of roasted beet salad and pizza at a very reasonable price.
Room was very warm during the day, and fans did little to cool it down until sundown.
Sunlight was very powerful by early morning- definitely recommended for early risers!

My daughters fell in love with the resident cats (they said I had to mention the cats). The staff were absolutely friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the lake and the view from the balcony was beautiful, although there was no view from the apartment itself. There was a small kitchen in the apartment, but right next door was a large shared kitchen if you needed to cook a bigger meal. The weather was cool in July, but there were fans if we needed which we did sometimes.
The location was perfect. Day and night there are many places to eat and hang out if you walk. Obviously some closer to others, but all walkable.
The apartment shower base was loose. There was hot water, but it went from scalding hot to freezing cold by a small touch. There was no real way to get warm water in the bathtub in one of the bedrooms, you had to be so careful not to scald yourself, or you just tolerated the cold water. It was very frustrating to take a bath. And you have that bathtub, but no sink or toilet. So really only one bathroom to share with everyone.
The master bedroom had a very small bed. Not a queen, I think it was a full. Then there's a random tub and a randomly awkwardly placed armoire in the room.
It was during rainy season and there was no rug in the entrance of the apartment which was tiled and it was very muddy and wet. We had to use the few bath towels given to us to put on the floor so no one slipped down.
We were expecting it but there was no TV in the apartment.
The walkway from the street to the hotel is dim at night, so if you have poor eyesight you could misstep. Its a good walk from the street to the hotel along a path, and if you have luggage, its too rough a path really to roll and there are a few steep steps to climb up to the actual property. With luggage it could be tricky. Pack very light!
If you have knee issues or mobility issues, you may have a problem.

The staff. The location. The view. The kitchen. The quiet. The rooftop.
I stayed 5 nights at Mikaso with Daniel and his absolutely lovely staff, including the adorable cats, and cannot wait to go back! Although San Pedro is a "party town", Mikaso is a lovely space to relax. Located just out of the main tourist area by a 10 minute walk (or cheap tuktuk), there were still numerous restaurants and facilities right there. (Try a massage and bath at LosThermales!)
The light sounds wafting in from town were not a distraction and if I wanted to stay out late, they give you a key to quietly return on your own schedule.
Right on the lake, the views are incredible and the amount of stars you can see from the rooftop are innumerable.
I did need the provided fan, but air conditioning isn't needed with the breeze off the lake.
I can't say enough about how awesome the staff is. Not just helpful and caring, they were all very sweet, accommodating, and some *ahem* even funny!
I would like a little more space in the bathroom to maneuver, but it was workable.

Ville magnifique. En résumé très belle hôtel. Très bon restaurant sur le roof top.

The location on the lake was stunning. The multiple areas to sit and take in the views outside of the rooms was outstanding. The community kitchen was clean and a real nice feature to prepare meals. The fan provided in the room had a a big plus for us. So simple to provide for guests but almost always overlooked by rental properties.
Our room had the smell of sewer gas at many different times of day. It seems like this is simply the way it is in Central and South America as we’ve had this issue in almost all of our stays.

Very friendly / helpful staff and room’s lake view
The furniture was oddly positioned in the room and we ended up reorganising it! There was also an annoying noise on the roof during the first night when it was windy

A.plave is run by French guy, so you get good quality service. It is located a lil bit aside, at the end of pedestrian patch, 10- 12 mins walk from citu center and pier to other towns. BUT it has waterfront location. Place is clean amd neat. There is a kitchen where yoi can cook and terrace with nice view. They offer cayak rental as well. Wifi works well.
There is restaurant on the same building, above the rooms, so in some rooms it is quite noisy till 11.p.m. There is no complimentary tea or coffee that, witch you get in other places.

Hotel is a little out of the way which means it's a bit of a trek from the boat dock but there's hardly any street noise and there is a spectacular terrace with probably the best view of the lake in town. Onsite Restaurant is also pretty good.

The location and the terrasse were amazing. The staff was welcoming. We were able to enjoy the kayaks and go into the lake for 20Q/hour per person. In the morning the view of the sunrise is beautiful on the second balcony.
The shower has warm water and this is excellent but it doesn’t have a lot of pressure.

Amazing location right on lake. Incredible terrace to enjoy lake views. Very comfortable beds and quality bedding.
Hotel needs a good cleaning- dust, cobwebs, cat haur through out. Sewage smell and urine smell in common bathrooms. Dirty common areas with spilled drinks and food.

nice peaceful location, but close to restaurants and bars. beautiful setting on the water.

We loved this place! The manager Daniel is a sweetheart and the view from the upstairs and downstairs balconies are insaneeee. My mom and I woke up at 5am to watch sunrise - highly recommend! Its an authentic, no frill kind of place where you're immersed in magnificent nature.
You just need to be ok with bugs in Guatemala in general. This place had very few but when you're on a lake, you'll see one or two here and there.

My partner and I greatly value aesthetics and the views from this hotel were beautiful. You can watch sunrise directly from the balcony, or go to the roof for a stunning panorama. Not to mention the abandoned building next door - truly a photographers/instagrammers paradise.

Nice terrace area, comfortable basic rooms.
No daily cleaning (believe it was possible upon request), small bathroom.

View was really beautiful
The path to get Mikaso was dirty (plastic, paper, etc). It is a general problem in San Pedro de La Laguna. Although there is weather applications like Windy.app, there were not advice on advance to plan accordingly (e.g. best time to go to Panajachel using a motor boat). The Atitlan Lake motor boats were very potent (e.g 250 hp) and were allowed to run (no control) even with wind gust of 30, with dangerous jumps that, for sure, are unsafe and unhealthy for the passengers.

The hotel is really well situated in a quiet part of town with exceptional views over the lake. The staff are fantastic and the kayaking is amazing!
4.5 / 5.0
Location was nice - walking distance to restaurants yet away from the party scene of San Pedro. Views are amazing as it sits on the water. Easy to find tuk tuk if you don’t feel like walking to town. Room (quad room with 2 beds) was large for 2 ppl and bed was comfy.
Bathroom desperately needs an update. The restaurant is closed and when we went up to enjoy the views over sunset, a lady told us the place was being renovated. This hotel has so much potential to be awesome - right now it seems very basic but with a little updating, it can be fab!!
