About this house rental
‘Clifftop' is a very special and unique house situated above the beautiful Tathra Beach and right on top of he cliff. Built in the 1960's the house is quality double brick, retro style. Clifftop was designed by my parents Tom and Doreen and is a special reminder of that time. The house and garden is lovingly maintained by us (Chris and Bruce) to make your stay memorable. We have a 7 night minimum stay so you have time to relax, unwind and enjoy our beautiful location. Note:During the summer period only Saturday to Saturday bookings are accepted unless arranged otherwise.
'Clifftop' features high cypress pine ceilings with quality retro features throughout the home. Reverse cycle air conditioning and a loungeroom with uninterrupted, spectacular coastal views facing north and bathed in sun during the winter months. The house offers easy care living with a well catered kitchen and bathrooms.
The main bedroom has a queen bed with TV and views to the ocean. The larger bedroom is roomy and private with either a comfortable king bed or unzips to 2 singles. A 5th person can be accommodated if necessary on a divan in the family room (extra person fee applies , please talk to the owner). All linen is supplied.
The casual lounge and dining areas are located in the main living room overlooking the bay. Morning sun streams in during the winter months making this a great warm winter retreat. In summer the sea breezes temper the summer heat making Clifftop a wonderful holiday house all year round.
We now have NBN and WIFI connected so you can work and play while you stay at Clifftop.
A partly covered deck at the rear of the house offers views over a private forested gully with established sub tropical landscaped gardens. Relax over a barbeque and enjoy the bird life .
PETS - A maximum of 2 pets are allowed. They must be clean and well behaved. The house only has a small fenced space on an enclosed rear deck and the front balcony can have a temporary gate attached . Pets must not be left inside the house when owners are out and simple house rules must be observed inside ( no pets in the bedrooms. No dirty, wet, sandy dogs inside. Feed and water pets outside) Owners must take full responsibility including any destructive damage by pets. Local amemities and interests
'Clifftop' is located right on top of the cliff with unimpeded views. You can almost reach out and touch the sea eagles as they often soar in the updraughts right in front of the house.
Whales frequent the bay in season and 'Clifftop' is the dress circle viewing location. The house is very protected from prevailing winds and the northerly aspect adds to the warm ambience.
It is only a short 100m stroll to the one of the safest and most beautiful beaches in NSW. Tathra beach is patrolled by lifeguards every weekend from September and every day during the summer to the end of February.
A new outdoor gym is available for visitors behind the surf club. A morning swim and workout will ensure the best start to a memorable holiday.
Cliff Place is a quiet, peaceful street with no through traffic. Only a short walk of 200m leads you to the famous Tathra Wharf, one of the only old heritage listed shipping wharves on the east coast of Australia. The fishing here is safe and productive with good seasonal catches of trevally, yellow tail, sea bream, mackerel and more. You can simply watch the action if you prefer while enjoying a great cup of coffee or lunch at the “wharf Local”cafe.
From here you can take the new pathway to the headland with wonderful views to the east and south from a large cantilevered deck .
The local butcher, newsagent and supermarket are located right at the top of the street, just a short 150m stroll. Restaurants, clubs and the historic Tathra Hotel are all within a short walk for lunch and dinner, or a courtesy bus is available on request from some venues.
Tathra Cellars is open again and Anthony is very helpful, welcoming and full of information.

We loved staying in this magical house with spectacular views of Tathra beach. It was a short stroll down to the beach for an early morning swim and then coffee every morning.
Amazing location. Walking distance to the historic Tathra Pub. Oysters on the cliff opposite the house on our favourite bench. We loved staying at Cliff top house and will be planning our next holiday there soon.

Loved the location. Loved the retro feel. Well appointed. Although dog friendly and aware of limited fenced outdoor space we felt doggies didn't get as good a deal as us!

Fabulous stay
Great property for a family getaway. It had all the ingredients for a fabulous beach holiday, we even got lucky with the weather. Lots of natural light and nice outlook with sea views and mod cons, including r/c aircon, dishwasher, good wifi, streaming tv and Weber Q topped it off. Can’t wait to return.

Clifftop at Tathra
Comfortable well equipped house in an amazing location. Incredible views and an easy walk to the beach. The local shops just a short stroll away, as was the Tathra Hotel and Fat Tony’s. The local oysters (Tathra Oysters) were delicious, several trips required. We will certainly be back!

Perfect stay
We had a perfect stay in this fabulous 50s style house with the most amazing view and the best location in town. The house is spotlessly clean and well equipped. The owner quickly responded to texts and emails, was friendly and went out of her way to make us feel at home. We will definitely stay again.

Perfect, relaxed home away from home
We loved staying at your beautiful house. For our family of four it was perfect; from the comfortable beds, very well equiped kitchen, great little retro touches, thoughtful inclusions such as sunscreen and radox in the bathroom, to the beautifully maintained, large garden to wander round in and magnificent views from the balcony (the great view from the kitchen even makes washing up a pleasure!) all the comforts of home are there. Being pet friendly at Clifftop was a big bonus for us as the 4-legged member of our family loved going leash-free on the northern parts of Tathra beach. Our teenaged son loved exploring the many nearby mountain bike trails while we relaxed on the deck with several good books! Our final nights dinner at Fat Tonys was the icing on the cake of a lovely week. Thank you Chris and Bruce.

The perfect escape.
Thank you Chris & Bruce. Another perfect holiday at 'Clifftop'. We have watched whales from the front garden, goannas climb trees, countless birds feed and that is before we even left the house. We will be back.
Fellow visitors don't miss out on a trip to the new 'on the perch' very interesting!

Excellent property
We thought we knew every corner of tathra but until now nobody told us there is such a good place (even pet friendly)!!! The view is amazing, singing birds, sounds of waves leaves you speechless. The garden balcony and front verandah are beautiful. Very comfortable beds. Especially close to fishing, shops , even if the hill is a little hard for a nana like me but nice walking distance with a dog.. We came to tathra so many times and we are still going to come back again. Thanks Bruce and Chris.

a very special property
We had a truly delightful time at Clifftop. We love Tathra and district and especially this house. You have appointed it so beautifully, as well as the extras like the wine and chocolate. The whole house had all those little things that make the stay so enjoyable (condiments, books, good saucepans, lots of pillows etc.) and of course the view!! We will tell our friends about this gorgeous place. Thank you so much. It was the perfect place for the rest we badly needed.
There are so many places to visit for people who don't need entertaining! Eden - Gorgeous! Mimosa rocks -fantastic! and all the places in between

Wonderful Clifftop!
Just spent two weeks at Clifftop and we loved every minute of it. Paradise by the sea. Terrific location and very comfortable house with breathtaking views over
Tathra beach, short walk to the excellent SLSC patrolled swimming beach and
surf. Also spent some happy hours fishing off the Tathra Wharf where the fish were biting, bream and bonito. We' re already looking forward to staying there again next year.
