About this house rental
This spacious residence has easy, paved road access, yet it is secluded in the mountains where you bask in clean air and brilliant winter sun.
The backyard forms your own private park. You can relax while your children are engrossed with the excitement of their own secluded space. The large log playground provides swings for tiny tots to adults. Our log structure forms a balance bridge, fireman's pole, a sliding board, climbing tires. Enjoy "King of the Log" on the balance beam. You can play basketball on the concrete court or put up the adjustable net and grab the equipment for playing pickle ball, volleyball, or badminton. The new tether ball replaces what a bear tried to eat. The treehouse is a challenging climb - only for the adventurous (who have parental permission.) National Forests border the property and provide hundreds of acres of hiking. A treasure map leads the adventurous through the mountains to an old gold mine and 'treasure.' There are hammocks, , lawn chairs, , gas grill, a soothing waterfall feature. We are located in the beauty of Ute Pass.
Relaxation is enriched with our spacious spa / game room. There you can soak in our hot tub.where you can cheer on your energetic friends as they compete in air hockey, foosball, play ping pong, or billiards on our 8-foot slate pool table.
Since your vacation is a time for rest, we splurged on the bedding. Memory-foam on the mattresses provides form-fitting support. The beds are covered with fluffy down comforters. Sleep in the unique, theme-decorated bedrooms - each is an imagination experience.
'King’s Crown' room has a king-sized bed. 'Country Garden' has two queen size beds. 'Grandma’s Attic' has two twins, one of which is an adjustable bed that can be positioned for special sleeping needs. 'Wilderness Trail' has two twin beds. 'Mountain Adventure' has two twin beds inside a large tent. Finally, one of the living rooms has a queen-size hide-a-bed.
The house is especially designed to be environmentally friendly. Sun rays flood the house with toasty warmth during the winter, and in the summer the house is naturally cooled. Laundered linens are dried on a line in the fresh mountain air. Woodland Park, our nearby 'City Above the Clouds,' boasts an average of 300 sunny days per year, more than San Diego, CA or Miami Beach, FL.
In the summer the 8500 foot elevation means pleasant days and cool nights. Another benefit of our high elevation, recent studies show that obese people can quickly lose weight and keep it off for weeks afterwards by spending time at higher altitudes.
Our expansive solar windows take advantage of the sun and clean mountain air. Through them you look on to your private yard. There is no central heating system, so on those occasional winter days when the sun is hidden, you set individual heaters in the rooms or better yet, your family will gather around your glowing fire in the wood stove. 'Roughing it' never felt so good.
The home is well stocked with a convection-oven stove, coffee maker, large cooking pans, commercial steamer, crock pot, mixer, blender, toaster, microwave and MUCH MORE - equipment that surpasses most home kitchens. Plus we have on hand some of your basic staple foods. There is baby equipment: two strollers - a double and single, high chair, porta-crib, backpack baby carrier, stair guards.
We, the owners/managers live nearby so are immediately available to provide for your every need.

Overall it was great. Only real down side was there wasn't any gas in the grill when we tried to use it so we had to use the oven/stove instead.

The grandchildren loved all the games inside and out. Everything we wanted to do was only about a half hour away from the house. There was two trails right by the house that husband walked every morning.

Our family of eight stayed here for our first week long vacation, and it was a perfect choice. The house is nestled in the mountains among wildlife, and has everything a kid needs to get away from screens and the monotony of daily life. We did daily activities nearby, and came back each day for dinner and hanging out either outside or playing inside. Needless to say, we had a blast, and hopefully we'll have the opportunity to come back in the future, though next time, it will be a family of nine. :)

There are many things to do within a 15-20 minute drive from the property. A quick walk up the trail into the national forest gives you a great view of Pikes Peak. The property itself offers a stocked kitchen and a great outdoor space.

Size of property was perfect for our family needs. Kids loved the games/sports equipment provided.

Overall, our stay was good. There are a few things that made for a rough start. The Wi-Fi password was not readily available. The book with the directions and helpful hints about the property is extremely outdated and has a lot of impertinent information. The property does not have a washer and dryer because of the severe drought which resulted in a dry well. There is an underground tank that provides water to the house. The towels had to be placed outside before they could be used. They had seemingly been washed but put up damp. Since there is no washer, we had no way to wash them ourselves, which we would have done. Future renters may need to know this.

We all had a wonderful time! The entire family (kids and adults) really enjoyed playing in the snow on the playground and sledding down the hill beside the home. second day it snowed approx. 3-4 inches. Most of the family had never seen snow so that was very exciting. The views from the home were exceptional! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with our family.

Wonderful home away from home. The kids loved the outdoor play equipment, even in the snow! Karen had sleds set out when we arrived and there were a few extra boots/coats in case someone didn’t have one. Lots of cooking supplies in the kitchen. Great for cooking meals at home instead of eating out. The kids loved reading about the history of Crystola and we spent half a day hiking in the mountains looking for the cave on the treasure map they had (that went along with the history). Plenty of space for a large family - lots of comfortable beds. The kids loved the tent bedroom! Great winter getaway.

Location worked well for multiple different outings.
Wifi issue but host was immediately dealing with the problem. Beautiful view.

We wanted a white Christmas this year with all our kids and grandkids and this was the perfect place to have it! Plenty of things to do at the cabin for all ages! The beds were so comfortable and the wood burning stove kept the whole cabin warm, Ali g with the sun coming in during the day. Karen stayed on top of everything to ensure we had a great stay. There were a couple of issues that were cleared up quickly. But the only main issue was the downstairs shower that just trickled out water so all 13 of us had to use the one upstairs bathroom to bathe/shower but we made it work and didn’t worry Karen with it.
This is the perfect place for a big family with so much to do and we made so many great memories that everyone will remember!

We had a great time! The photos of house were right on. Karen was so helpful and kind. She provided everything for us. It was snowing when we arrived and there was a roaring fire going and the sleds were pulled out for us to use. The house and property provided lots of space for the grandchildren to play.
We made so many wonderful memories!

We had such a great time here with our friends. We had a total of 6 kids and the property was perfect for them to play. They were outside all day!
The hot tub would be better outside as that room gets very warm, but other then that everything was absolutely lovely!

The location of this home is wonderful. Feels like you're in the wooded mountains, yet close to Co Springs, Pikes Peak, and 5 min to WalMart. We also went 90 min to Royal Gorge which was a beautiful drive. We loved the location of the home!
This home is very nice for a week of vacation. We had plenty of sleeping and table space, but there isn't a large indoor living area to hang out which was hard when we all wanted to relax together. There are two "living spaces" that each seats about 6 people. If you don't mind splitting up between the game room, kitchen, outside, and living spaces, it would be fine.
The house got hot in the October afternoons. The lows were in the 30's and the highs in the 60's, but without blinds, the sun beat in the house making it very hot in the afternoons. Mornings and evenings were great. We just tended to stay outside as much as possible in the afternoons. There are very few windows that open. The owners have supplied several very nice fans, but they blew warm air until the temps lowered.
There are plenty of activities on site between the outdoor spaces and the indoor rec room. Some game equipment items need replacing or are in need of TLC, but we were able to use them as is. Kids loved it!
Though the home needs some TLC, it worked for our needs for the week. The communication with the owner has been very good and they are already addressing any issues we noticed. They are very kind and want to offer an excellent property.

This home was a perfect multi family vacation rental for us. Great for all ages. The kids loved the swing set. This beautiful home is nesting in the mountains with easy access to their local Walmart/Safeway nearby. Don’t forget to take your own shopping bags or pay for bags every time you go to the store. We ended up with 25 Walmart bags in seven days. Lol
Best Colorado trip ever.
We all enjoyed ourselves very much. Thank you for sharing your home!

This was perfect for us! Each kid, big kid and old folks had something to do! Within driving distance of everything we wanted to do. We loved having some of the essentials already there which was a major bonus! Thank you for allowing us to stay and we cannot wait to return.

We had a wonderful spring break getaway with friends and family. The house was PERFECT for our group with 6 kids between 5-10 years old. Everything in the home was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed and nothing we didn't.
We had the perfect mix of snow and warm sunny days this week so we enjoyed every feature of the home and property, especially the hiking trails right out the front door. The location was easily accessible and so close to so many attractions.
One issue with water the first day was resolved within an hour. Thank you for sharing this treasure of a home.

Other than it got pretty warm inside during the day we had a blast. We were normally out and about and had the fans going so it wasn't that big of a deal. Everything was as pictured. We saw deer passing through the backyard in the mornings and we saw a black bear as we were leaving. Great access to hiking trails. We got a lot of use out of the game room. Ping Pong Tournament went on and on. Hot tub was really great to soak in after hiking around Pikes Peak all day. Great access to everything there is to see and the guys love being central to all the fishing attractions. I highly recommend this property to large groups.

We were very happy with the home, and I felt that everything matched up to what was listed. Very quiet, private but so close to everything, literally less than 5 minutes to run to Walmart, or anything in Woodland Park. We visited the North Pole and the zoo while we were there, and both were very easy drives. Stocked very well with everything you need and more! We had little ones and 3 different families and it was perfect. The kids loved the tent room and slept in there every night! I would recommend bringing your own gate for the stairway if you have toddlers. But the pack and play, extra mattresses for the floor and all the extras made it very easy to be comfortable and for everyone to have their space! The game room with the hot tub was great and kept all the families active!

With grandchildren ranging from 2-14, this property hit the mark! The backyard and game room provided a variety of activities for anytime of day. We enjoyed seeing wildlife each day of our stay. The location was convenient to all Pikes Peak area sites including Santa's Noth Pole, Manitou Springs, Pike Peak, Green Mountain and Woodland Park. Our family loved the mine treasure hunt provided by the host!! We followed the map and FOUND THE CAVE!! It was an awesome discovery and fun for the entire group.

We visited with an extended family of 10 and everyone enjoyed it very much! The owners are kind and very responsive. This house makes a great home base for a trip to the Colorado Springs area. The house provides plenty of room and the outside area is large with lots to do. We especially enjoyed the game room, hot tub, playground, and pickleball court. The beds are all comfortable and the tent bedroom was a big hit. The kitchen and dining area are spacious and we had most of our meals for the week at the house. We definitely give an overall 5 Star rating!

We spent a week here for a family vacation. Everyone loved it, adults and kids. The kids played outside for hours; they especially enjoyed the big slide and the hammocks. Us adults just lounged around the home after hiking all day. When I had a question about the home, Karen answered promptly. The kitchen has just about everything I can think of. I'll definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity.

Everything was wonderful! They family of all ages had a great time, including my 82 year old mother. If you have a large family or group this is a quiet place to reconnect and regroup from the daily grind. Thank you hope to come back soon 😊

We really enjoyed our stay at Sun Mountain, and were able to stay plenty warm even with the snow.
One thing to note is that the property doesn't have a washing machine as listed. They are conserving water and do not allow the usage of the washing machine. We had planned to use it during the stay, so that was a bummer.
Overall, we had a great time with friends and family.

We found the cabin clean and ready for us when we arrived. The wood stove was well-stocked and ready for use and each room had a space heater. The trails right behind the cabin were great to hike in the evening and gave a wonderful view of Pikes Peak. Would definitely recommend.
