Had an amazing time with the family at the Kelsey House. The house itself was beautiful with the wrap-around porch and the amazing views. The walk through with Jack regarding the history of the house was great and kept in immaculate condition. Received tons of information from Jack throughout the week about the area so we could easily navigate the best spots. Highly recommend Kraemer & Kin for a casual dinner out.
The fishing (kayak) was fantastic. Tons of smallmouth & largemouth bass (several personal bests).
I would highly recommend if you want to just get away from it all and enjoy what life it meant to be.

Kelsey House was wonderful. You walk in and immediately feel at home and you begin to relax. Jack has provided you with everything you could possibly need for your stay and was such a great host. I slept in the master bedroom and I had the best sleep each night, so comfortable. One of our favorite places to eat was at The Blue Paddle Bistro in South Hero. The food was delicious and everyone was pleasant. The night we went they had music, she was great and entertaining. I highly recommend you at least try this once during your stay. We highly recommend this lovely home for your vacation. Enjoy!

My husband and I chose this property due to it's location being ideally situated for the total eclipse on April 8. And it was absolutely perfect! While we couldn't take full advantage of all the property had to offer due to it being off season, we still loved the peacefulness of sitting lakeside on the front porch during sunset. Jack is an amazing host and the property is perfectly appointed with anything and everything you need...even a dog bed for my senior boy! My only minor observations are that the TV is a bit small for the size of the room. In the summertime that wouldn't be an issue (the best view is outside the window!) but since we had a lot of spring rain during our stay the TV was our only option. Additionally, I would have liked some ottomans or footstools to elevate my feet since my husband commandeered the only recliner. Despite these two things, we were both extremely comfortable and relaxed during our stay. I would highly recommend this property!

From the moment we were greeted by Jack, our stay at the Kelsey House was outstanding in every way. The house is stunning, down to every detail, you can feel the history and love that it holds which is very appealing to me, it evokes a feeling of “home”. Jack is a gracious host attending to any request or need. There is no doubt we will be back.

We stayed here for two weeks. Jack, our host, was very easy to communicate with. (Even when I accidentally set off the smoke detector. Twice. :-/ ) His directions to the property were helpful, and any time we had a question, he answered quickly.
The property itself was just lovely. It is an old Victorian that has been meticulously maintained and upgraded. Jack has thought of *everything* we could want. Over and over, I would think, "I sure wish I had ____." And then I would look in a drawer or closet and discover that it was right there! We wanted for nothing. (And if we did, Jack was quick to address our request and make sure we had what we needed.)
For those who care about such things, the WiFi was up to our kids' standards - no small thing - which meant we had a stress-free vacation.
We enjoyed daily kayak trips around the shores of Grand Isle. And when the weather wasn't cooperating, we had a stunning view and a cozy place to enjoy the rain.
Last, but not least, we wanted sunset views across Lake Champlain, and boy did this property deliver! We enjoyed stunning views across the lake each night as the sun set on Adams Point, with the colors reflecting off the lake through the autumn-hued trees.
I can't recommend this home more highly. It's a perfect retreat.

Exactly what we needed...quiet and peaceful. The owner gave us plenty of space in the beautiful garden, but was available at a moments notice if we needed anything....including the best place to get ice cream

Kelsey House is a wonderful lakeside property. The grand rap-around porch was most enjoyable. Everything was top- notch and Jack was a generous host. We much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. Our little dog enjoyed her stay as well. Great getaway, a true treasure.

My husband, daughter and I spent an absolutely lovely week at Kelsey House on Grand Isle. Even the couple of rainy days were well spent just reading on the huge wrap-around back porch. The property has been beautifully maintained and Jack was an ideal host - always just a text away if we had a question. If you want a relaxing, peaceful stay on Lake Champlain, this is the place. We also highly recommend the sandwiches at Heroes Welcome in North Hero!

Kelsey House exceeded our expectations in every way! As soon as we saw our first sunset from the amazing porch we immediately felt the stress of "real life" ebbing away.Lazy breakfasts and long cocktail hours/dinner on the porch were the highlight of each day, as was walking our dogs down Adams Landing Road. There was plenty to do when we left the property, which had everything you could possibly need in a lake house- high quality bedding, towels, kitchen and bathroom supplies etc. We do want to mention that when VRBO's advertise "well-stocked" it often means "cluttered" and this was anything but the case. Jack very kindly welcomed our dogs and had a nice bed, bowls and dog towels (it was raining) on hand We had a lovely time learning about the history of the property and meeting Jack's son but, as others have said, we had complete privacy. Honestly can't think of any flaws and hope to be back! Thank you, Jack.

To say we had a great time is an understatement. With its expansive view of the lake, abundant gardens (the peonies were intoxicating), and birds singing from every tree, Kelsey House is a sensory delight. Indoors, every spacious, light-filled room is the perfect blend of comfort and graceful style. We appreciated many thoughtful details: the fresh cut flowers, the dog bed in the living room that our pup quickly claimed as her own, and even the upstairs laundry basket. Jack is the quintessential host – genuine, kind, and available but not at all intrusive - and we are exceptionally grateful for his willingness to share his beautiful home. Though we wished we could have stayed just a little longer, we packed our bags without regret, certain that we’ll be back.

This was our second year staying at Kelsey House, and we will certainly be back again - it is simply a slice of heaven and just so peaceful. You can tell how much love went into curating this property, and the attention to detail makes this for an incredibly restorative stay. We enjoyed coming back after daily hikes and enjoying a drink while watching the incredible sunsets, and our pup loved the long walks around Adams Landing. We will be back - thank you Jack!

Kelsey House, directly on Lake Champlain, is clearly a well-loved and spacious property. It's comfortable, well-equipped, has a wonderful host (Jack) who lives next door (and thus oversees the care of the property himself), and has peerless views and vibes. It's quiet, idyllic, and restful. My husband and I were able to have a mini-family reunion with our daughter and son-in-law, and it was as close to perfect as could be. We loved it.

What a fabulous, relaxing vacation! Not only is Jack the warmest of hosts, the lakeside location is quintessential Vermont at its best! The front porch and the dock were our favorite resting spots post biking, swimming or hiking. We had our dog, Cado with us and if he could write, the stories he would tell! (One small request would be better lighting in the living room. ) We already reserved for next year. Thank you Jack!

We absolutely loved staying at the Kelsey House! Jack was the perfect host - clear communication, gracious, and accommodating. The property is beautiful and well maintained, with gorgeous views of the lake. We loved the porch in the early mornings and evenings. The property is ideally situated within the Champlain Islands with easy access to all attractions. We wish we had stayed longer! Perfect summer getaway!

A little piece of heaven in Vermont!
We stayed at Kelsey House for 2 weeks and it was an incredible experience. The owner, Jack, is amazing and always available to answer any questions and do whatever he can to enhance your stay. The pictures are wonderful and accurately portray the lovely property but seeing it in person makes you realize that the pictures don’t do it justice. The property is sprawling and filled with so many varieties of perennials that just make you smile. The sunsets are simply amazing and you will find yourself waiting on the gorgeous wrap around porch each evening just to watch it. The house is so warm and inviting and has a fully stocked kitchen with everything you could possibly need. The house has A/C but we chose not to use it because we wanted to listen to the birds singing and the sound of the waves splashing on the rocks of your private beach, which also provides a wonderful breeze on a warm day. Being able to bring our Boston Terrier was also important to us and we were able to do so as they allow small pets with owner approval. We can’t wait to visit again!

Iconic Champlain Lake House
A truly memorable property on Grande Isle. We had a wonderful stay, and as my youngest son would say, provided memories that one will take to the grave. Anything I write cannot do justice to the property; from the spectacular lake views from the the wrap around porch to the shale beach. Wonderful opportunities to kayak to nearby islands. Our dog loved the beach and the hay fields across the road. The host, Jack, was accommodating, meticulous - wonderful to talk to and very knowledgeable about the history of Lake Champlain from the times of early settlements, indigenous peoples to present day Vermont. Always available, if any needs arose. The only problem was that we had to leave after a week. Looking forward to returning to Kelsey House as often as possible. It is the property that you wish you owned.

Slice of heaven
Based on the reviews and the pictures we had high hopes and our expectations were only exceeded by reality. Jack’s property on Adam’s landing provides unique access to the special natural wonder and fascinating history of lake Champlain. Morning coffee and evening drinks on the porch over looking the water were highlights as were long bike rides on Grand Isle and North Hero. Jack is a very caring host and there’s no question we will be back.

Staying at Kelsey house is like taking a step back in time to simpler days. The house is beautifully restored and maintained and includes all of the modern amentias. Every sunset rivals the previous while sitting on the wrap around covered porch. Relax and enjoy a day from the distant past.

Magic!
Our stay with John was absolutely perfect and exactly the week of relaxation and peace that we needed. The property itself is lovely and very well appointed (most well stocked kitchen in any VRBO we have stayed in). The light that floods the house around sunset is pure magic, and we just loved sitting on the porch swing in the mornings with tea and in the evening with a glass of wine. The drive into Burlington and surrounding areas for hikes is a breeze, and well worth staying on the islands. Jack is also incredibly kind and welcoming, and available whenever needed for questions or recommendations about the area. We will absolutely be back the next chance we get!

Jack has relaxation dialed in at Kelsey House. My wife and I spent a week there and it ranks at the top of all of the places we've stayed over the years.
The sunsets from the back porch are some of the best you'll see. The kitchen, hands down, was the best stocked we've ever seen. Beyond that the place really has everything you need for a very comfortable stay.
During our stay we did a bit of working from home away from home and the internet was plenty speedy to accommodate two people with decently packed schedules of Zoom meetings. Additionally we really appreciated that the TV was ready to go to sign into our favorite streaming apps.
Our dog, Ruth, accompanied us and she loved playing fetch in the huge front yard next to the apple trees. In addition there were plenty of interesting places to check out on the islands and in nearby Burlington.
I've already recommended Kelsey House to a number of family and friends. You definitely won't be disappointed!

Very large, comfortable, quiet location overlooking the lake. A killer recliner so good that we were fighting over it. Porch sitting and dog walking delightful. Apple trees of the owner free to pick. Kitchen highly equipped. Not so good the small "smart" tv in large room which required previous experience to operate or an extensive set of instructions. Nearby eating out limited, but that was expected on the island. A wonderful week for us and our as enthusiastic Sheltie.

We spent a wonderful week in the peaceful lakeside 1840’s farmhouse. The house is tranquil and well positioned by the lake. We spent hour after hour on the wrap around covered porch listening to the sound of the breeze in the trees and the lapping of the lake at the shore. Great for a recharge and would recommend to all.

We loved our week at Kelsey House. It was the perfect spot to relax and destress. We enjoyed watching the water from the front porch and listening to the waves at night. Jack was the perfect host and responded to all of our questions quickly. With very limited dining options in the Champlain Islands, we enjoyed cooking and grilling at the house which had everything we needed. (That said - the restaurants that are there are excellent. )

We had a magical time on Grand Isle at the Kelsey House. It was a perfect setting to gather with family who live far away. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bonus of having kayaks and SUP there for our use was terrific. The porch got a lot of use and so nice to have a beautiful yard area with peonies bursting on our arrival.
The host was there if we needed anything but we never even focused on him being there next door.
Thank you for a great week!!
