About this cottage rental
Built in the early twentieth century and close to the historic Old St Andrews estate, the Gatehouse is ideal for families or romantic getaway weekends. It was refurbished in 2016 and now includes a new, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. In 2017 the front verandah was restored and the former back porch converted into an old-fashioned conservatory which looks over the back garden. There is a cosy gas log fire for winter evenings. The cottage is well furnished and decorated with local art work. A small library of general reading, travel and fine art books is located in the dining room along with family games. There is free Wi-Fi and a Smart TV, CD and DVD player. The bathroom includes laundry facilities.
The back garden is fully fenced, secure for young children and pets, with a large lawn area and outdoor furniture. It is ideal for backyard cricket. There is plenty of off-street parking. We have a standard Pet Policy which we can send you. Pets are welcome to be inside the cottage but according to certain conditions. Most pets are happy sleeping in the conservatory.
The Gatehouse offers accommodation for four people in a queen bedroom and a twin bedroom. Extra accommodation for two people is possible by arrangement on a fold-out sofa in the dining room. Take advantage of our special rates for longer stays.
Guests, especially children, are welcome to pick flowers, herbs and vegetables from the grounds of Old St Andrews and seasonal fruit from the orchard.
The Gatehouse is in the centre of Victoria's first formally identified heritage township. It is close to fine restaurants, cafes, pubs, a day spa, specialty shopping, the wharf and both beaches. The town has public sports facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool and an internationally renowned links-style golf course. The local buses stop 20 metres from the front door. Port Fairy is well situated for exploring the world famous volcanic landscapes of the Western District as well as wild coastlines, National Parks and a wealth of historic buildings.

This cottage is perfect for a few days away. It is in a fantastic location and is clean and comfortable, and every thing you need is provided.
Timothy and Roger greeted us and were the nicest hosts. They were welcoming but not overbearing. We appreciated that there were no instructions around the cottage. Everything was there and it was obvious how to use and respect them. I think it reflects that they trust their guests. It may not always work out for them but we appreciated that they trusted us. Thank you.

My husband, little dog and I had a lovely, relaxing few days in this delightful historic cottage after the busyness of the Christmas period!
The cottage was beautifully presented, with the perfect mix of authentic historic features and comfortable modern features. The bed and linens were excellent, the full kitchen super handy, the conservatory in the back a lovely pace to read, and our dog loved exploring and running around the large back yard.
Timothy was the perfect host: very welcoming, helpful, personable while also leaving us to enjoy our holiday. We also appreciated the lovely breakfast fixings and fruit.
And we just loved revisiting beautiful Port Fairy!
Thanks so much for the beautiful holiday!

What a privledge to stay in one of Port Fairy's heritage cottages. Comfortable and beautifully presented by our hosts we could not have asked for more. Fresh flowers on the mantlepiece, breakfast goodies in the fridge with a loaf of sourdough to start our holiday, a welcome sight after a day's drive. Cosy with a gas fire in the lounge and heating blankets on our bed - bliss! A lovely lawn fully fenced was enjoyed by our little fury friend while we enjoyed a glass of wine in the sunroom. Can't wait to return! Thank you Timothy and Roger.

Wonderful property in a delightful town
One of our favourite stays - the property and its surrounds are delightful. The cottage’s kitchen is the most well appointed I’ve stayed in making self catering very easy. The walk to shops and restaurants is short and scenic, a Greek patisserie approx 150 metres away does great things for dinner. Will be back.

When can I move in?
The Gatehouse was the perfect place to stay for the folk festival - and any other time. A very short walk to town and surrounds. The cottage was delightful, comfortable and clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Tim and Roger were the best hosts, providing us with some information on local eating places and snippets of the architectural heritage of the cottage. Our favourite spot was in the conservatory, looking over the beautiful back garden and the old church rising above the trees. We were supplied with a very generous supply of provisions - more than would normally be expected. We could not recommend The Gatehouse highly enough and also the kindness of our hosts, Tim and Roger. A memorable experience.
