About this house rental
Shady Pines Vacation Rental on waterfront with pier, heated pool and an air conditioned 3/2 large home on 1.3 acres.
Composition: 3x bedroom, 2x bathroom, 2x WC NOTE: This property is available, but a couple amenities have been affected by the recent hurricane. The house, interior, services including water and electric are available and on. Wifi is on. This home suffered no interior damage and is outfitted like the vacation rental it is. The outside and grounds are not the same, but a majority of work is completed. About 12-5 trees have been removed which came down. Carport is gone, and the cage is gone. A new cage has been ordered and may take until spring next year (2024). we are told we are about client 500 on their order list. The pool is up and running and the deck and pool surround looks like it was always open. There is access to drive and park and use the house. NO OTHER amenity is represented except the fully working house and pool itself. Thank you! , BEST David The property has a pier for your boat, a number of sitting areas, a wedding platform, a yoga or meditation wharf, the pool a large lanai cover which can sit 8-10 persons. The parking can handle 4-6 cars with ease. There is a small craft dock and over water bar, which is accessed through a secret mangrove tunnel leading to Ainger Creek and Lemon Bay. Note, Florida is known for weather extremes and storms which can affect mowing and pool schedules. And summers have bugs. Please bear in mind this is a large property and this can affect some amenities and there can be gaps in some services. Thx The canoes, kayaks, row boat, sup, etc., all come with the rental and are not charged separately as in individual rentals. This is become a very popular children's vacation, with a great modern and durable home, and bikes, canoes, kayaks, piers for frogging and fishing and mooring your boat, pool and room to run and play. Also we are popular for adult getaways to smoke by the pool and enjoy the utter privacy here. And sophisticated folks, certainly older but all ages appreciate the monthly renting we do all winter, with many repeat customers year after year. But this is not a resort with every amenity hand rubbed and polished between rentals; inside pretty much yes, but not out on the grounds and around the piers. The interior of Shady Pines, with her new wood look solid tile flooring and our nice and clean but not expensive furniture is very children friendly and safe from damage claims for you. Amenities: bed linen & towels, air conditioning, heating, heated swimming pool in a large cage, free wireless internet, pets are welcome, a free cot, baby crib, air queen bed and extra linens in a closet. Smoking allowed, outside only. Included are: 2-4 canoes, full size which carry 1-2-3 persons 3 kayaks SUP stand up paddle board paddles and vests 2 person double-oars row boat for fishing Ainger Creek and most of Lemon Bay are about waist high! The bottom is firm and except for the cut in boat channels, you can stand up for safety almost anywhere. Very family friendly. Take a bottled water, wear a life vest and hat and bring your phone in a ziplock for safety.
We do weddings too!! Elopements really, with very small parties. We arrange the ceremony onsite and we have the equipment. A great place for a retreat from the world for 2 to 8 or more. This location can handle a reunion or small/medium wedding or vow renewal. The home is air conditioned, the pool heated and the cage around the pool makes relaxing outdoors easy. Shady Pines is kayaking/canoeing or walking distance from Cedar Point Park, a huge preserve and natural habitat of Old Florida. The pictures show: Some of the pictures show Cedar Point and the trails, kayak launch and wildlife signs!, one of the last remaining large tracts of reserved undeveloped land as a Park on Lemon Bay in Charlotte County. With 115 acres pine flatwoods covering over 60 % of the park, Cedar Point also has scrub, scrubby flatwoods, mangrove swamps, salt marshes, and wetlands. Cedar Point is within kayak and canoe distance or a leisurely 10 minute stroll to Shady Pines. This is a highly fortuitous aspect to our vacation rental. The several pictures of a family canoeing and kayaking and paddle boating on the estuary are actual guests enjoying our boats Shady Pines is ideally located hardly 1/4 mile from shopping and services. There is a Publix within walking or biking distance and the Englewood beach is a 2.3 mile drive by land. Also Stump Pass, where the Lemon Bay opens to the Gulf of Mexico, is a 2 mile trip by water. Manor road is a strip of upgrade waterfront homes fronting Ainger Creek. The Park's 1.3 acres is a long rectangle with the home well set back off the street, which is on one end, and the waterfront is on the other. It was great for us and our 1 night stay! This home

Perfect place to launch kayaks and go fishing
4.8
Thanks to other comments about the shared driveway or else we probably wouldn't have found it. First off it was a decent place to stay like many others have stated it needs updating. However, it is very misleading when it states they have canoes and kayaks to use. The canoes are in very bad shape the kayaks were okay but covered in ants. We could have still used it and washed it out but the ores were awful and not of use. And the lifejackets that were thrown in the mangroves and the few that were there was moldy. We got this place for the sole purpose of using the kayaks and canoes. The tree house entrance is covered by branches and can't even go up. The place is nice but needs a lot of up keep to the outside. We were home and all of a sudden we heard a noise coming from the pool. It would have been nice to know that people were coming to clean the pool. They dumped chemicals in which one shouldn't be in there for a good 6-8hrs after they dump that stuff in. Communication about that would have been nice to have. Bring your own silverware. We had a total of 6 people and only 5 forks. Luckily we live 3hrs away and brought a bunch of stuff with us which was silverware. Now for the sleeping arrangements. Its very confusing. They state it sleeps 8 and one place says 3 bedrooms another says four bedrooms. Well there are technically only 3 bedrooms. The little den area they turned it into these pull out twin beds. They have a divider that you can put up for a little bit of privacy.

Davids description is 100% transparent and accurate. This home is in a perfect location, get the remote feel, but stores, beaches, etc are 5 mins away. Great size and layout. Nothing fancy, yet all the things you could need and no worries of damages. We had the pleasure of meeting him briefly and he was pleasant to speak with and truly cares about his guests experience. The pier for fishing and use of kayaks right on property was our highlight! We will be back for another stay for sure!

We booked this house for my husband‘s birthday during Memorial Day weekend. The house was a little tricky to find at first because it doesn’t have any indicators showing the house number from the road and shares a driveway with the house next to it. Very spacious yard and plenty of parking though! The house had plenty of room with some things needing updating but the backyard had plenty of room for our dog to run around and play in. The pool was a great plus, and the owners were kind enough to purchase plenty of pool floats to use. Thank you! The location of the dock is great as far as the distance to boat ramp and short ride to Lemon Bay was perfect! Just be careful of oyster beds on low tide for those that bring a boat. Thank you so much for letting us stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. Would go back

The neighborhood and property were very nice and quiet. The house is a bit outdated but has a lot potential. The pool was big and nice and warm but needs some attention. The waterfront was nice, but the water is brown. We never got the kayaks in because of the drop from the pier to the water. Lots of places you can walk to. Nice restaurants. Easy drive to beach and state parks. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the house.

Floor dirty upon arrival
Lamp switch broken pink lamp
Vertical blinds missing letting light into bedrooms
Bathroom in-between front bedrooms door has 2 broken window slats letting air in and creating a house security issue.
No trash can in bathroom
Used pool filters littered by pool pump.
2 cockroaches found during our stay, 1 dead 1 alive
Would not agree with the 4.8 rating that was posted, more like 3.5!

Overall great place! Only 2 complaints, 1) dishes and counter tops were dirty and 2) many broken blinds, can handle anywhere but the bedroom.

Our family had a great time and loved being able to have our boat docked at the property!

This rental continues to please each time we have visited! It is a spacious home that provides the teens their own areas and the pool just tops it off to make them happy For the family fisherman the dock makes boating the area so easy. Thanks again.

This is a great property so close to beaches and restaurants. Off of the dock we caught fish and there were even otters. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed one month with 2 other couples, plenty of room, walked to the pier every morning with my coffee, watched the fish swim around, waved to the boats, everyone was very friendly, several restaurants in the area and 20 minute drive to the beach.

We were doing a job in Englewood and this house was a perfect place for our group. It was clean and comfortable. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is as described. 5 minute drive to the public beach. Perfect for us.

We really enjoyed our stay. House was in a good location, very clean, well stocked, and the children loved the dock, boats, and pool. It was great!!

Row boats only
The ad says 2' of water at end of dock at low tide. I brought my 23' cc boat that draws 14" only to find 8" of water at the end of dock at low tide. Was unable to get boat within 25' of the dock. Bad enough. The ad also says 11' clearance at low water bridge leading out to Lemmon Bay, my cc needs 8' & 2" would not clear at high tide. David offered a off site dock to leave the boat also inside of low water bridge therefore this would not work for me. I ended up trailering my boat to a ramp everyday. Definitely bummed our fishing vacation. David said I should should have chosen a week with more accommodating tides. I chose that week because of the moon phase. Had the ad provided honest information I would not have stayed there.

We had an amazing time at this location. House, pool, and yard was nice! There are some things that need updated/fixed but overall, a nice place to stay! We have a deck boat and at low tide, it was difficult to get it out but it wasn’t too bad during high tide. During low tide, it was under a foot at the dock. It stormed for a whole day while staying here and the house was stocked with games and entertainment. It made it nice to just sit and relax at the house with a family.

Shadowy Pines
This was a super stay: backyard with a private pier fronting a wide creek, kayaks, bikes and fishing poles supplied (!), plenty of room for even a large family to dine and relax, and dog-friendly, all at a reasonable price -- almost perfect. This part of Florida is much less crowded and developed than even the Tampa/Sarasota area so traffic on the roads and at the beaches is much less crowded and much more enjoyable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The location is amazing. Loved being on the water. I enjoyed watching sunrises out on the long dock. The yard is huge. The kids had fun exploring all of it. The property is close to the beach, just a few minute drive. The house is very roomy. Definitely plenty of space for us and our 2 teenagers, who were happy to have their own rooms and bathroom. We used the bikes once, as well as the kayaks and SUP. Would definitely stay there again.

Everything was as advertised and more spacious than we expected. The photos don't do the place justice. The pool is very nice and the heater works great. The layout makes some of the rooms a little dark, but opening the blinds helps a lot. Could use a few more lamps though. The kitchen is very well stocked with small appliances and flatware. David is very responsive to any requests. If you have need for anything, just ask. We stayed for a month and enjoyed our stay. Great location!

We enjoyed our stay here. Having the docks and the boat lift for our personal fishing kayaks was really a plus. The available kayaks were fun to have to enjoy with the family! The yard was large enough to be able to walk our dogs around. The only issue we had was the pool not being heated, and we were in contact with Dave regarding the pool. He was very responsive and helpful on any questions we had as he lives nearby. The TV service was changed over while we were there, so there was a bit of a learning curve and inability to get some of the regular channels. Dave is looking into all of that.
All in all we would consider staying here again with family.

As stated in some previous reviews, this home could use some TLC. It being an older home was not an issue. The issue was general clutter in and around the home/screened-in porch; the condition of the blinds or lack thereof in many windows; and the bath linens were in pretty rough condition.
Overall, the location is GREAT and home is SPACIOUS with a large kitchen providing lots of cookware and dishes. There are lots of extra linens and bedding options (crib & roll-away bed). Check in and check out was a breeze. David was very nice and responded timely when we had questions.

Best attributes of property are docks, one w/kayaks/canoes; screened-in pool; large private yard!!

Liked - Being right on the water with kayaks. Enough room to walk around property.
Disappointed in quality of property. Peeling paint, scuff marks, way too much furniture, only local television in one bedroom. Kitchen was overlly fully stocked but bedrooms had old comforters, broken screens and blinds.

Everything you want in a vacation rental
Attentive Host. Heated pool, kayaks, board games in family room, bikes, outdoor playhouse for child. Lots to do! Great location to beaches.

Has everything you need
Home is in a great location and has everything you need for your stay. Hugh backyard is right on the water with a nice, long dock. The heated pool was wonderful and enjoyed by all.

Great Property and Pool
This is an older home with a beautifully updated, huge kitchen. Most of the remainder of the house has not been updated, but it is functional, with plenty of comfortable sleeping options in three bedrooms. Highlights of the property for us were the large, private swimming pool, expansive yard, waterfront with dock, and a great beach less than ten minutes away. Oh, and supermarkets and hiking opportunities are just a two minute drive from the house. Owner lives a few houses away and responds quickly to text messages.

Short review
The house is really great , with great view and space . It does have little light inside the house and outside and pool is very cold , we couldn’t get the heather working , but overall it was a great location and nice house

Peaceful getaway
We enjoyed our visit very much. David is great to work with and responded quickly to any questions and requests. The home and property are beautiful, we especially enjoyed the pool and lanai. The house is showing its age a little and needs a little TLC. David was quick to respond to any needs, though.
We rented a pontoon from Skip's and loved watching the dolphins in the bay. The fishing was good- we catch and release. It was fun to see the variety of fish, especially the little hammerhead sharks.

We have stayed at many vacation homes over the years and this is probably my favorite! Beautiful property with large yard and two docks, a cute treehouse, and an amazing swimming pool. Lots of space in the house to spread out! Two bedrooms set apart and share a bathroom. One has a full bed and one has a queen. The master bedroom is large with a king size bed, I believe, and a bathrooms. Two full showers but no bathtubs, if that is a issue for those traveling with babies. Not an issue for us. There are several other portable bedding options and the couches make beds. The kids spent most of their time swimming (or playing the PlayStation 2) while the adults fished the dock. Tons of fish visible from the dock. Lots of kayaks, canoes, life jackets, and a paddle board. The large row boat was very heavy and hard to get on and off the dock for storage, so you’ll need strong people of you plan to use that. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The address number was not visible from the road so we passed it several times but it was easy to find after the initial hunt. Owners were helpful and pleasant to work with. The location is within walking distance from several stores. It’s less than 10 minutes to drive to beautiful beaches. We would love to stay again!

Very nice! Great Communication!
Water access was awesome! Pool was very clean and well kept! Had a great stay.

The house was set in a very peaceful/quiet area on the street, but nearby various restaurants and grocery stores - very convenient! Everything was clean beyond measure and don't even get me started on the the AMAZING kitchen. Beds were very comfortable and bed linens and towels were plentiful. The host was on top of communication for any questions, which was much appreciated and a refreshing change from my last property rental experience. The pool was spotless and my kids/friends had a great time on the kayaks and rowboat. I'd definitely recommend and stay again!

Great place to stay.
Bringing a boat was a little difficult because of the driveway lay out. Neighbors do not like if you barely touch their grass with tires. But we had a Blast. Large enough house to spread out.
