The property had more than enough space for six people, including a 7-year-old. The garden was the perfect place to sit down and relax while enjoying a mezcal with gusano salt. The hammock on the first floor was soothing after a long day of walking and exploring.
While two of the restrooms are separate from the bedrooms, I found this arrangement to be safe and comfortable, not a major issue. After a day or two, the courtyard and garden seamlessly integrated with the indoor living space, creating a sense of security and tranquility.
The house is in a great location. Across the street is a Brewery, the perfect place to drink while the wife and family rest or get ready to go out. Two blocks down is a lively Mercado. Cafes, bars, restaurants, and street vendors are within blocks of the house.
I was concerned about the place not having A/C, but the numerous fans in the house were more than adequate to cool it down.
My only initial disappointment was that the washer was not available, as we had planned to wash clothes upon arriving in Oaxaca. In retrospect, this was not a problem because there are numerous laundry facilities nearby that wash and fold clothes for very cheap. Plus, who wants to wash and fold clothes while on holiday?
Communication with the owner and caretaker was excellent, and we had no problems checking in or out.
Overall, my family and I loved the place and hope to return soon.

Beautiful and great location but no comfortable place to sit, no way to get to kitchen without getting wet when raining and big bugs at night…eek

Arturo was wonderful. He met us when we arrived and then always responded to our calls. He cared about the property and was proactive about problems. Space is described accurately as there are steep stairs but we had no problems and used the wider stair case. Our only complaint was the quality of the sheets and covers. They could have been of a bit nicer. There were so many Mexican arts and crafts that decorated the house. some of that would have been nice on our bed or just a higher quality.

We love being close enough to walk everywhere and yet be a few blocks away from the busy Alcala. The neighborhood market is just a couple blocks away and is one of the best in the city. The house’s courtyard is beautiful and feels like an oasis from the city. The 4 bedrooms gave us each a place of our own. The house is beautiful and full of interesting artwork.

Beautiful house for a multigenerational family to stay in. Great kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms for dispersed but communal vacation. Arturo, the property manager, is excellent. Only comment is to be aware it is close to downtown, excellent for walking, but certainly quite load some nights from the club nearby.

Our extended family had a magical stay in Oaxaca at Cyntia's home! It is just central enough to be walkable everywhere, yet on the perimeter enough to be away from most of the noise and traffic. With a beautiful garden interior and plenty of space for all, this was the perfect getaway!

This was a family vacation with three brothers and their spouses. The property was wonderful, clean, conveniently located and fun. Arturo was awesome and even pointed us to a market 2 blocks away which we accessed daily. Thank you so much and if we have a big enough group next time we visit Oaxaca, we will be contacting you.

Great location, a bit of street noise, 3 bathrooms but none upstairs with 3 of the bedrooms. Need larger lightbulbs. All in all a great place.

The home was beautiful, absolutely walkable to so many amazing places in the city. Arturo, who manages the home was super helpful and attentive and gave us an introduction to the house as well as recommendations to eat around the area. The indoor/outdoor nature of the home was refreshing. Incredibly clean, kitchen stocked with essentials (including several different types of coffee accoutrements, full size fridge, filtered water, hammocks). The landscaping and greenery inside the house made it like an escape from urban life.

The kind of place that even though you've seen the photos, your jaw still drops when you walk in and see it for the first time, and many times after.

We were a group of 7 family and friends staying over Christmas. We absolutely loved the house! Everyone was comfortable in their respective bedrooms, and we utilized every room with breakfasts at the table outside, cocktails in various indoor or outdoor seating areas, a couple of dinners in the dining room, and reading and relaxing in hammocks, couches, etc. The location is great, within walking distance of pretty much anything you'd want to do in the city, and easy to catch a taxi if you're going further afield. The kitchen is fairly well-stocked, the bathrooms adequate, and all very comfortable. I appreciated the yoga mats! Don't miss the photo book of the house restoration--so impressive!

Our stay in Cinthia's home was incredible! We were greeted by Arturo. He gave us a tour of the place and answered all of our questions. He was also quick to respond to all of our questions.
The home itself was beautiful and the pictures don't actually do it justice. The kitchen was great and we all loved how it was in the heart of the home. The tranquility was also a highlight; we had coffee every morning in the courtyard and watched the birds fly around as we reminisced about the night before.
I was worried a little bit about the stairs but we were fine. We stayed during Dia de Los Muertos and there was a ton of activity throughout the night but didn't really have problems with the noise.
We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Cinthia and Arturo!

We had a great experience at this property--especially liked the location. The only challenges we found were that it was a little tricky with a toddler as far as the many areas with staircases without railings/safety barriers--As well, noise between the rooms was somewhat distracting for a curious little one. Some minor amenities were lacking such as a toaster, outlets in the bathrooms and a working washing machine. Overall a really nice experience. Solomon, who is the recommended car service was an amazing and gracious addition to our stay.

The house is in a great location and has plenty of room! Gorgeous garden area - we spent lots of time out there! Property manager Arturo was very responsive for questions/needs regarding our stay, and Cynthia was very quick and helpful in answering our more general questions. As the listing indicates, this house is on a busy street (buses go by all day) and some nights the surrounding clubs can get loud, so if you are looking for absolute peace and quiet you may need to go further out. Also my parents in their mid-70s did struggle with the myriad steps throughout and the length of time it took the hot water to reach the first floor bathroom and kitchen, but they were comfortable staying in the ground floor bedroom and didn't need to venture up to the 2nd floor. We (in our 40s/50s) enjoyed consistent water temperature and pressure in the two outer bathrooms and had no issues getting around. It's a very charming and fun house, in a really fantastic location, so go for it if you want a really special place to stay during your time in Oaxaca!

We truly enjoyed the house. Its centrally located and close to the main attractions in the city of Oaxaca. Beautiful outdoor areas allowed us to relax and have fun. Each of the upstairs rooms has its own independent stairs, which provided privacy to the people who occupy them when getting in and out. Truly enjoyable house.

Our stay was fabulous. The house was exactly as advertised and could not have been better located. We would highly recommend!

Family of 6 very comfortable with plenty of space for privacy. Weekends are bustling and there are several nightclubs nearby.. Easy walkability to city center
(Zocolo). Once door closes behind you, you enter a wonderfully secluded courtyard with ability to relax. We enjoyed our stay.

We loved staying in this beautiful house. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the entire old town, close to restaurants and shops. Cynthia added stairs to the four upstairs bedrooms which was a huge help since the earlier access to those bedrooms was circular staircases to each room. There is no upstairs bathroom so if you need one in the night it's necessary to walk down the stairs and across a small courtyard. There is excellent outdoor lighting. Men can use a chamber bucket. The only surprise was on Friday and Saturday nights there was a disco close enough to keep us awake until closing time (about 2am). We solved that issue with earplugs. There is also street noise but it easily becomes background noise. We especially loved sitting in the courtyard to read and relax and unwind from a busy day of sightseeing.

This is a beautiful property that reflects the vibe of Oaxaca. The location is close to shopping, restaurants, cathedrals and most of the sites--are within walking distance. Bathroom areas were a fairly close distance to bedrooms and house was clean and safe. Sounds from the local businesses are hustling during the night, and can be heard throughout the house. Owner shared lots of valuable information for getting around Oaxaca and contacts for transportation. Oaxaca is a fabulous place and will will return.

This was our third visit to Oaxaca and our third stay at Cynthia’s oasis in the heart of the centro histórico. This casa is absolutely perfect. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else (except someday maybe in my own home in Oaxaca). The pictures, as great as they are, don’t capture just how amazing this house is. Hidden behind the walled entry from the street is a peaceful inner courtyard that our family refers to as our home away from home. The noise of the city quickly fades away once inside. The rooms are clean and spacious and with a fan in each room we all slept comfortably.
Cynthia is a fantastic host... super responsive and makes the whole renting process easy. Her information is always detailed and helpful and her advice is spot on. Arturo the property manager does an amazing job keeping things running smoothly. He’s always just a text or phone call away if needed.
The house is just three blocks from Templo de Santo Domingo and the andador where all the action is. The local ruta busses pass right in front of the house, for easy access to the Central de Abastos market and colectivos to many other small towns outside the city. It’s just a short walk north to catch a bus to the baseball stadium, where the colectivos to Tlacolula and other points east await.

We love it here . this is our 2nd visit. The house is centrally located near EVERYTHING and it was delightful to return to the garden center after a day outside exploring. I highly recommend the location cannot be beat. Arturo and Cinthia were available tto help us with any questions or needs.

This house was a wonderful choice for our group of 3 couples. We initially booked it for a few criteria that was important to us, (all friends in our 60’s and 70’s), in spite of a few drawbacks. First the criteria: we wanted 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms. We also wanted a functioning kitchen and a courtyard, knowing we’d want to hang out outside as much as possible which in this case, turned out to be a lovely large oasis from the noise and bustle of the street, probably our favorite feature of the house. Note: if you rent this house, ask Arturo to bring the chaise lounges out of storage. We didn’t realize until we left that, they existed and they would have been very much appreciated during our 8 days stay. Additionaly, it was important that we were located where we could easily walk wherever we wanted to go, unless heading out of town for excursions. This house was in a great location for walking to the sites, great restaurants, the zocalo,, shop, etc etc. Plus, it feels very safe and secure inside it’s walls, as well as in the local environment. Now for the quirks: the layout is peculiar no doubt about it. Each room has it’s own winding staircase without railing while all the bathrooms are downstairs, two of which are located across the courtyard. At our age, this was a concern but we are all physically strong and able, so we quickly mastered the staircase situation . Anyone with limitations might consider someplace else. The WiFi was somewhat spotty, but it was good enough. One room in particular seemed to get the best reception downstairs so it was dubbed the WiFi room. Although there are the drawbacks above mentioned, the positives far outweighed those things and we can highly recommend this beautiful home. Also the owner was very thourough in her communications from the moment we booked. And her manager, Arturo, who was a lovely guy, was very responsive when we had a couple of requests over the week. He met with the first couple to arrive and gave them the tour and told them what they needed to know, and told us to call him if we need anything at all. Don’t hesitate to stay here. We had a great time and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay in Cynthia’s beautiful colonial house, just steps from so many of Oaxaca’s wonderful attractions. The house is outfitted with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The sunny kitchen was the perfect place to start each day. Arturo was so helpful and responded quickly to any question. It was always a joy to step into the calm of the courtyard and feel at home in the centre of the busy city. Thank you so much for providing such elegant and convenient accommodation.

WOW. What an incredible space. The photos do not do it justice. It is like walking into a private secret garden when you open the front door. We spent most of our time outside as the weather was perfect. It is so special to be in the center of the city with everything just a few blocks away, ,,,, in this incredible space. This place is a true gem. We lacked for nothing. Cinthia and Arturo were available and helpful as needed. This was a great great great space and what a deal. I highly recommend !!!!!!!
