About this house rental
As featured in "The Times" in the UK - July 2024, fantastic and spacious, very well equipped, luxurious and comfortable 18 century property with 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, plus ground floor WC and poolhouse shower room. Walled and enclosed garden with heated swimming pool, surrounded by fields. Very private, no neighbours. Very child-friendly, and dog friendly (by permission only). Only 20 minutes from the Luberon and 20 minutes from Aix en Provence. A perfect location being so close to many cultural and historical places of interest.
Ferme du Val is located between two picturesque villages, St Cannat and Lambesc. The building dates from the 18th century, a traditional stone "mas" which was originally the main farm serving the nearby chateau. The house is situated in peaceful, open countryside, within 25 acres of grounds, but it's only a 5 minute drive to either St Cannat or Lambesc. Both the house and the heated pool are enclosed within a walled garden creating a secluded and very private and peaceful environment, ideal for small children and dogs. The grey/green shuttered house is flanked by large "platane" trees creating shady areas. All bedrooms have wonderful views out to the beautiful open countryside. It is a perfect location for a holiday.
The lawned gardens are on two levels, the lower with a large south facing terrace between the house and the pool. There are 2 options for outside dining: either by the edge of the pool underneath the shade of an arbour covered with vines – the grapes are edible! or there is a terrace situated behind the house, bordered with flowers and herbs, just outside one of the kitchens. The pool is 12m x 5m, heated, ozone treated, not chlorine, pool house with WC, shower and changing room, lots of sunbeds and parasols, and seating/dining areas. Large gas bbq.
The farm has been meticulously renovated and is full of many beautiful antiques and paintings whilst providing elegant, luxurious, spacious and comfortable accommodation with the benefits of fully equipped modern kitchens, bathrooms and shower rooms. There is WIFI throughout the house, and UK TV.
Furthermore the house lends itself very well to an out of season holiday with the benefits of full central heating throughout, and an open working fireplace. Ample garaging, bbq, table tennis and boules. The property sleeps 14 very comfortably however it is very suitable for any size group due to the layout of the house.
Ground floor: American style open kitchen/sitting room with dishwasher, microwave, etc plus sofas and open fireplace. Leading to cloakroom, and WC. Through to vaulted dining room. Arch through to large galleried hall with door leading off to another fully fitted kitchen and laundry room.
First floor: stairs leading to galleried library/reading area. Huge master bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, with 4 large windows overlooking the garden, stone stairway access to gardens. Two further double bedrooms overlooking the gardens. Bathroom with shower. Steps leading to shower room. Huge beamed sitting room with “office area” and panoramic views.
Second floor: spacious beamed twin bedroom plus 2 further double bedrooms (1 with 1 1.6m bed and 1 with a 1.5m bed). All rooms having magnificent views of countryside. Large bathroom with bath and shower. Steps leading to additional shower room.
Independent ground floor studio annex though attached to main house – sitting room with kitchenette leading to double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
This house also lends itself perfectly for families wishing to take a sabbatical in Provence as the International schools are only a 30 minute drive away. Available for long term and short term rentals.
You can even go skiing, only 2 hours away! It's a perfect location for all the amazing cultural and historical sites, including Aix en Provence, Avignon, Cassis, Gorges du Verdon etc. Marseille airport and Aix en Provence TGV are only 30 minutes' away. With walks direct from the house, and 2 villages only 5 minutes' drive away, it's in an ideal setting to have a relaxing and peaceful holiday or mini break/long weekend.

We were gathering as a larger extended family. This property was perfect with all facilities needed to stay, cook and play! The artwork and styling of the property took our breath away! The gardens were so beautiful

Two families recreated a holiday together but now with grown up children. An amazing place to stay to relax and enjoy and unwind together. Lots of space to play games including the great pool.
Lots of BBQs enjoyed in the beautiful outdoor dining spaces under the vines in the evening sunshine, as well as some outstanding nearby restaurants (La table du boucherie, Le L du Moulin, Dan B) and not forgetting a wine tour at Château Calavon. Lambesc market is a must.
Housekeeping were very helpful and attended to any issues. Youcef also cooked us a great meal.
Georgina helped us with travel plans when SNCF had issues and offered to help us with anything else we needed.
Highly recommended to anyone.

Absolutely fabulous. Plenty of everything for hosting a large family gathering for friends and other family staying in nearby houses. Location ideal for those wanting to explore all that Provence has to offer.

Très belle maison mais mal entretenue
La maison est très bien placée, elle est très belle, spacieuse et parfaite pour accueillir une grande famille, mais nous sommes déçus de la qualité des prestations. Ça ne vaut pas le prix. Très cher pour une maison avec beaucoup de défauts, déjà la propreté, des placards pas très clean, des araignées un peu partout, de la poussière de quelques semaines. Des tetes de lit pas très propres, ou déchirées, des portes qui ne se ferment pas, les chaises de la terrasse cassées et mal entretenues, une piscine pas du tout propre. Le terrain autour de la piscine c'est désormais que du sable qu'on amène jusqu'à la piscine et a l'intérieur de la maison. Des tapis de l'entrée qui sont désormais a jeter. Pour une maison à ce prix on s'attend à de la qualite. Un barbecue dans un sale état.

Un mas en Provence
Une maison magnifique, meublée et décorée avec goût et d'un très grand confort. C'est très calme, dans la campagne, mais Lambesc qui est une charmante petite ville avec de bons commerçants est toute proche. La maison est idéale pour la réunion de famille que nous voulions organiser. Nous avons été accueillis avec beaucoup de gentillesse.

A great property for multiple families to holiday in. Great flexibility for sleeping diverse groups but also lots of spaces for people to gather or to find some personal quiet time. Our favourite was evening meals under the grapes at the end of the pool. The whole house was well equipped.
The guardian's were available but completely unobtrusive.

Truly...Paradise en Provence!!!
I’m a fortunate woman. I am able to pick and choose Luxury properties around the world to rent for extended periods ( up to 3 months + ) of Vacation, and invite those that I wish to come and join me as my guests.
I do a lot of research into the properties I rent ( exhaustive and detail specific ), and really try to find exceptional properties which tick all of my “ highly selective “ boxes.
It’s not uncommon for my searches to take as long as a year ( I begin as soon as jet lag ends from the previous year’s trip ), and I have done this for 17 years, now.
Given that framework, let me just say that it is rare for a property to not only meet my expectations, but to exceed them.
Ferme Valmousse, is in that “ rare “category !
From the moment I began researching the property via online correspondence with Georgie, until the moment I very reluctantly had to hand back the keys and say my goodbyes to Daniel and Nika, I was thrilled with FV.
To say my expectations were exceeded is an understatement.
From easy arrival to departure, I was charmed by the beauty, history, comfort, attention to detail, and EASE of occupying and hosting so many of my friends and family throughout my stay.
I can honestly attribute those statements to the care, consideration, and kindnesses of the few really superbly willing people who while never hovering, still managed to ensure that everything ran beautifully, professionally and as near to seamlessly as possible. No small feat in a 300 year old property of this size and scale.
From outfitting the kitchens, to quality and quantity of linens, to modernized appliances and features within, while still maintaining the historic and charming integrity of such an authentic Provencal Mas, the picky art historian, chef, and hostess that I am was beyond delighted.
A few unforeseen, weather - related issues arose during my extended stay, but they were dealt with expeditiously and with minimal bother to me or my guests.
Georgie, Daniel, Nika and Kalou were wonderfully responsive to all of my needs and requests, and made sure that I never felt like I was a bother or excessively demanding.
Not a single 1 of my MANY revolving guests was less than overwhelmed by the beauty and charm of FV, and no one wanted to “ wake from the dream “ - that it really is, and depart. Including myself.
Thank You to Georgie, Daniel, Nika, Kalou, and an oh so esteemed Ferme Valmousse, for an exceptional stay - sans exception!!!!!

La propriété est très confortable avec toutes les commodités, au calme, très Bonne exposition et tout confort, très bien équipée avec en prime une belle cheminée. .les propriétaires sont très accueillants et très intentionnés ( petites bouteilles de vins à notre arrivée).nous avons passés un agréable séjour très satisfaisant.

Lovely week and good disabled access
This is a beautiful, historic, well equipped and maintained house set in the middle of the countryside. We happily walked to the picturesque local town (40 mins) most days and did a lot of very beautiful cycling, including Ventoux (about 1 hour away by car).
Daniel, the on site caretaker, was a fabulous asset and who was discrete and unobtrusive, and who went out of his way to help us. He made sure that the house was accessible for a wheelchair with tailor made ramps. All the arrangements were smooth and without fuss.
There were good dining spaces inside and out, and a great kitchen too. A lovely week for 14 people in considerable comfort and space.

everything we hoped for and so much more
We had very high expectations for our stay in Provence, and somehow our stay at Valmousse exceeded those expectations. It was truly like a dream that we never wanted to wake up from.
We won't repeat everything the other reviews and the listing say about the place, except to confirm that all the good things are true. A few things that we would like to highlight based on our own experience:
1. The house somehow fits well for any group size. We are a family of four, and it did not feel overwhelming. At times during our stay we had many visitors (up to 17 at one time), and it all worked just fine (and we even felt like we had enough space to ourselves when needed).
2. Both the owners and the caretakers are delightful and conscientious people. It was a true pleasure to get to know them a bit.
3. The house has all kinds of interesting and beautiful touches, such as artwork and antiques. Very unusual for a rental property.
4. There are lovely, peaceful trails for walking and mountain biking starting from the property.
5. Lambesc has a surprising amount of commercial and leisure activities to offer. So while Valmousse is very much in the countryside, you don't have to go far to find what you need. For example, if you are into tennis, Lambesc has an outstanding and very active tennis club with seven courts.
6. For what it's worth, our family all agreed that the house has a very positive spirit to it, for lack of a better word. Some old places feel creepy, but Valmousse is the opposite--you can sense the timelessness and history, but it feels comfortable and welcoming.

We had the most fantastic week here. The owner could not have been more helpful and the managers on site were brilliant. The house was clean, comfortable and very well maintained with a wonderful swimming pool.

Fantastic home in a great region of Provence
The house is an impressive Mas located outside of St. Cannat in the heart of Provence about 25 minutes from Aix en Provence. The location is fantastic due to it's proximity to the Aix region, the Luberon to the north and all of the locations to the west that are great to visit. The listing was accurate, the house is very well maintained as is the pool and the grounds. The owners strive to make sure everything is taken care of and all questions are answered. I have recommended this property to others.

Wonderful space for a group trip to Provence.
Great private location in the heart of Provence. The house has many nice amenities; well equipped kitchen and a variety of areas in which to dine or simply relax. Our group enjoyed the excellent outdoor spaces. Owner was great to work with and made some excellent recommendations. This is good rental for larger groups looking to visit Provence
