About this villa rental
For those desiring a true Caribbean getaway vacation with easy access to the beach and exceptional privacy Smugglers Lookout should be on your short list. The villa is roomy yet intimate, has 180 degree panoramic ocean vistas but is only a few minute stroll to the beach, is luxurious for adults yet offers some of the best amenities (like our turtle pen) for children.
Surrounded by acres of privately held land and abutting what is slated to become Belmont National Park, Smugglers Lookout provides privacy and serenity where guests enjoy spectacular and uninterrupted panoramic sea views in a quiet surrounding where often no man-made noises can be heard.
Families with children will love our “Turtle Pen” featuring our 3 red footed tortoises named Albert, Scratcher, and Tortilla and now their off spring (2 babies)
When not at the villa to find some of the BVI’s finest recreational activities and dining you won’t have to go far. The villa is situated directly across from what is slated to become Belmont National Park, is a short walk to Smugglers Cove, about ½ mile to Long Bay (great for boogie boarding and long beach walks), and about 1 mile to Cappoons Bay (Apple Bay) one of the area’s premier surf locales. Some of the finest restaurants are also among these areas with Sopers Hole just over the hill featuring a marina, shopping, and more dining.
Your villa also includes use of our “toys” including kayaks, paddle board, surfboards, and others that may not only save you a lot of money, but add to your vacation by having immediate and unlimited use of these benefits. Remember, this is also our home so we have a number of items available for use that are not listed that may not be found in a traditional rental. Make sure to call or email and we can address any specific vacation goals you might have.
This is not a high volume rental property and we are looking for families wishing to experience this magical area of the BVI who will look out after our place. No party'ers please.

We had a marvelous time at Smuggler’s Lookout. I am convinced there is no better location on the islands. Smuggler’s Cove is the best beach on Tortola: perfect sand, snorkeling, few people…and a couple of ramshackle bars cooking jerk chicken! The house is about as close as you can get to the beach.
The house is wonderful and Marilyn takes such good care of it. Our family will cherish the experience and memories from this vacation. We loved the history packet on the house. That part makes things all the more special.

Loved the house with amazing views. It is indeed a 4-5 minute walk to Smugglers Cove. Beach was enjoyed by all ages. The turtles were a huge hit with the under 10 crowd.

We had a great 3 nights stay at Smuggler’s Lookout! Dave was an attentive host and answered all our questions. Marilyn the house manager met us upon arrival and was always available with any question . We fed the cat and the turtles with any vegetable scraps we had. That was if the chickens didn’t get to it first!! The house has every amenity and the decor was perfect. The house is so close to the beach. The view is amazing! Just perfect! Thank you for sharing it with us.

This is a beautiful home, well appointed and cared for. The covered verandah was a perfect setting, as was the dining area. Marilyn was responsive to all questions. We all very much enjoyed our week here.

Best Vacation Ever
We had a really good time in Tortola. The villa was great! It was close to the beach, yet secluded and peaceful. The views of Smuggler's bay were beautiful. We had coffee on the balcony each day.
Check in was easy and the Villa was clean and tidy. Marilyn (the property manager) even had fresh flowers in each of the bedrooms.
Dave, our host was attentive and always ready to help with any questions we had. Thanks Dave!
This was a family vacation for us. The age range of our group spanned from 5 mos to 92 years. And everyone had an amazing time.
We met a lot of nice people; learned to paddle board; our 4 year old grandson learned how to snorkel and ordered broccoli everyday at Patricia's bar. My 92 year old mother swam in the ocean with some help and a lot of coaxing from my boys. She said that she never thought that she would be able to swim in the ocean again. Well, she went swimming everyday, did some snorkeling, and the folks at the beach bar gave her a noodle to use. If little Conrad (5 mos) could talk, I'm sure he would say thank you for the legos and little cars that he played with. My oldest son and his wife did have to work the first 3 days (Chris had a grant due for his lab) but were able to relax for the rest of the vacation. (The internet worked really well). My youngest son took his 4 year old nephew on a nature walk to the rocks on the point and stayed on the beach every evening just to watch the sun set.
We all agreed that this was one of out best vacations ever.

Paradise
This home is perfectly located near a beautiful beach, Smugglers Cove, with just a 3 min walk from the house. It was safe and the accommodations for children ( ages 3-13) were great. There were plenty of beds and space for families. We highly recommend this home, if you are looking for cleanliness, safety and close proximity to beach.

Amazing Home with incredible host!
What a find this house was for our group of 8. The house has an amazing view of Smugglers Cove! There is plenty of patio space for outdoor dining and gathering! The house is located a bit of a drive from the airport however if you follow the instructions given by the host you can get there with very little trouble, you won't find the house on google maps or apple maps so make sure you have the driving instructions provided. In the area, there is a beautiful beach walking distance from the house. There is also a small beach bar there with some limited food, but there are a few great restaurants (Sebastian's and others) about a mile or so drive. If you are driving you may want to consider a Small SUV or Jeep as some of the roads are a bit rough on the way in. The house was just as pictured in the ad and we didn't have any surprises. The host was very responsive and accommodating with the few requests we had. He went above and beyond our expectations.
Pros: Spacious, beautiful panoramic view, clean, comfortable, very close to the beach, some nice restaurants close., sizable kitchen, outside patio dining room, balcony of most bedrooms, pet turtles, responsive host, and did I mention the view :)
Cons: the downstairs suite is only accessible from the outside so your guests staying downstairs have to go outside and down a few steps to get to their room (not a big deal)
the roads are a bit rough on the way there, a bit of a drive from Road Town if you plan on spending much time there.
This is a great house to go to if you want to unplug and relax. There isn't a lot going on in the immediate vicinity of the house so plan on making your our fun. It was exactly what we needed before going on a 7-day sailboat trip.

A slice of paradise
We would like to thank David and his family for opening their home for us. Marylin, the property manager was in touch with us well in advance of our arrival to set the sleeping arrangements. Upon our arrival she met us at the villa and gave us the tour. David sent us a welcome packet with clear and detailed instructions. We stayed for 3 nights since our charter was mid-week. The location was perfect--close to the beach and absolutely breathtaking views. Well appointed house with many niceties, well stocked kitchen with high end stove.
This was an amazing start to our family and friends vacation.
Thank you! We would love to stay at your villa again.

Amazing stay in an amazing house
We cannot say enough about the house and it’s location. The owner was amazingly helpful in navigating the new Covid world. The house was clean and Marilyn the house manager was super helpful. She arranged a cook for our stay which only added to it. The house is a short walk to Smugglers Cove which is a beautiful beach. I ran almost every day on the roads and felt safe the whole time. The house came stocked with a paddle board, life jacket, games, snorkeling gear and a kayak. And we used it all. We were a party of 9. Four adults and five kids.

Amazing spot
Had a terrific week with 2 families at smugglers lookout. Great house in a great location. No issues. The local beaches there are amazing. Try to get out in the water when you are there. Excellent vacation home base in BVI. Hope to return to paradise sooner than later!

A true paradise...
Great place to stay in Tortola with a "Million dollar view". Very nice house, clean and comfortable that gives you "home away from home" feel. Location is bit secluded, but very convenient and close to the one of the best beaches on the island. Great experience overall. Would come back in a snap...

Perfect!
The property is beautiful and the views are incredible. The home was just lovely, very well maintained and cared for, great furnishings and every item that you think you might ever need was there. There's a very short walk to Smuggler's Bay and then you're on the beach! The location was convenient, close to a small grocery store and some nice restaurants. I also can't say enough good things about the owner - he's very easy to work with, prompt in his replies and his caretaker was also very helpful. We can't wait to return!

Top-notch
We all absolutely loved staying in this villa and can't recommend it highly enough. We were 3 couples staying for 3 nights in mid-February. We were met by Marilyn, the property manager, who welcomed us warmly and showed us the home, each room accented with fresh flowers from the garden. The house is very well laid out with large airy rooms, plenty of privacy and yet warm and comfy urging one to sit back, relax and take in the 180 degree views of the sea and the islands. The location was the best I can imagine, being only an easy 5 minute walk to a sandy beach where you can snorkel right off the beach. We ate out our first night but loved the spacious and well-equipped kitchen adjacent to the outdoor dining terrace so preferred to cook for ourselves the rest of our stay - surf and turf- so we didn't have to sacrifice a minute of the views from the beautiful spot.
We are each talking about coming back with our individual families, and while the upstairs rooms, (Master and Turtle rooms) are somewhat nicer than the others, all are comfortable and well-organized for guests with plenty of drawer and closet space, good-sized bathrooms with showers and comfortable beds.
The owners have put a lot of energy into landscaping the grounds, so that everywhere you look there are little paths, rock walls, potted plants and other tropical delights.
This is truly an elegant home, not a cut-rate rental property and you will be lucky if you get to stay here.

Ideal home for our family if 10 including 4 teenagers.
Property a little more secluded than we anticipated, but worked out great. Everything we needed was included! Met people from all over the world at the beach at Smugglers Cove. We were advised against frequenting the beach bar (shack) but fell in love with the owner and his wonderful hospitality. A fun time had by all.

Great Home! Awesome Views!
Great Home, very clean, just as described!
Roads to get there are a little rough, will suggest a 4 Wheel Drive

Hidden Paradise!
Other reviews sum it up for our party of ten (two sets of parents and 6 kids). Perfect setting - High enough on the mountain for a spectacular view but low enough for a short walk to a beautiful beach. House had all the comforts of home...loved the use of the paddle boards and kayak. Snorkeling was really good at the beach. My 17 year old son ran every morning to/on Long Bay Beach and Smugglers Cove. The neighborhood is quiet. We ended up just staying at the house for our four days and enjoying everything it had to offer. We plan to stay here again!

Tropical Oasis overlooking Smuggler's Cove
We just got back from staying at this beautiful house. There were seven of us – four adults and three kids. As others have said this house is incredibly well stocked with a paddleboard, kayaks, kitchen tools, etc. Marilyn- the property manager was kind and took her time to show us all around the house the first night and the owners seemed great and were fast to respond to questions. The location was fantastic and was a short walk to the best beach on Tortola. Being close to the west end it was also easy to pick up ferries to other islands.
One great thing about the house is that you can see both breathtaking sunrises and beautiful sunsets. Every morning I woke up at 5 AM and sat on the master bedroom balcony looking at the beautiful red tree right outside and listening to the birds, frogs, and roosters.
There is an iguana and turtles that live outside in a cage, and every time you turn your head you see a lizard. The owners also have two outdoor cats that live at the house. One is shy and stays away from people but the other one was absolutely awesome. My kids brought the cat inside every opportunity possible and the cat would walk us down to the beach, wait for us, and walk us back. We seriously wanted to take this cat home with us. Also, you can't see any other houses from this house so it feels very secluded and relaxing.
We really had a wonderful time in the house. The only reason I gave the house four stars instead of five was that the house does not have central air and although we could keep the bedrooms cool with window air conditioners, in August the living room and kitchen felt like it was about 95° so it could get uncomfortable. If the owners had a window AC unit in the living room it would be absolutely perfect. Again, we went in August so if you go more in high season that shouldn't be an issue.
Our favorite things we did in Tortola:
(1)Aristocats sailing/ snorkeling trip- Took us snorkeling to four different locations and The crew was amazing and it was easily the best snorkeling of my life.
(2) snorkeling and drinking at Soggy Dollar Bar (Jost Van Dyke)
(3) The baths at Virgin Gorda
(4) dinner and watching the sunset at Bananakeet
Overall, If you go to the BVI's I think you'll love this house.

Smuggler's Lookout
Just returned from a great 10 days at Smuggler's Lookout. Our family of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids ages 13, 12, 8, 6, enjoyed every minute of our stay. The views are amazing and the house had everything we needed. The kitchen is well stocked, there was a good amount of surf boards/boogie boards, kayak, and paddle board, and the kids had many adventures in the tree house! Smugglers Cove beach was great. The snorkeling right at Smugglers cove was enjoyed by all. We also enjoyed having Long Bay beach practically to ourselves. Plenty of restaurants near by, but we probably enjoyed grilling out and enjoying the deck views from the house more. We ventured out for a day sail to Norman Island and the Indians on Day Dream. The crew on Day Dream was great, the food was good, and the snorkeling was great! Dave and Carolina went out of their way to accommodate us, and we are grateful for their sharing a piece of paradise with our family.

The House is amazing and the secluded feel is perfect.
A short walk to an amazing beach. I hidden home on the west end of Tortola. Views of Jost Van Dyke. Absolutely stunning place. We will certainly book this again.

Best villa we stayed in yet!!!!
We’ve been to the BVI many times but this villa is BY FAR our favorite. The location is one of the best in the area as you have incredible views, privacy, yet you are only a short walk to Smugglers Cove. Not only was the villa and location fantastic, but the price was the best we found as well. With the best villa, best location, and best price we have experienced, we won’t be looking elsewhere for our future visits.

The house easily accommodated our large group. The location was perfect!
The house is beautiful, and has everything you need for an amazing vacation. We especially loved the 2 outdoor showers, the outdoor seating area was perfect for coffee in the morning and dinner in the evenings, not to mention the views are outstanding! We will definitely come back to Smuggler's Lookout!

Best Vacation Ever
Everything was wonderful. The house, its unbelievable views (from every room), Smuggler's Cove...all fantastic. We loved having use of the bikes and other toys that come with the rental. The nearby beach...the most beautiful we've ever seen. Our family's goal was to disconnect from the outside world and that's exactly what we did. We didn't do much exploring (other than surfing Josiah's bay - fabulous), because our normal lives are over-regimented - and there was lots to do near the house. Outstanding. Owner Dave had lots of great tips for local dining, activities and house manager Jon was super helpful as well - he met our family at the ferry and drove us to our car rental (Jerry's) & then to the house. Even made a dinner reservation for us on our first night - nice touch! If you're looking for a true escape, look no further. Hope to return again!

Wonderful Stay!!!!
No words can describe the beauty of the view from the spacious decks outside your incredible home. Your home was so much more than what it was described to be, we absolutely loved it. The bulk of our time on our four day stay was spent at Smugglers Cove. Smuggles Cove is the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. We snorkeled both ends and it was amazing. Soper's Hole is very nice and we had a lovely dinner at Sugar Mill, Sebastian's and Long Beach. Loved the cat, seriously considered taking her home with us.
