One of best parts of Sand Dollar Beach house is the beach! When you walk out the front door of the cottage the beach is about 15 yards away. It is a private beach, accessible mainly to the cottages in the immediate surrounding area. We have the most beautiful beach on the South Shore with the warmest waters north of South Carolina. When the tide is low there are sandbars (1.5km!) which makes a for a giant playground for children (and adults!) and a great place for long walks. Stroll through the tidal pools, dig for clams, or beachcomb for sea glass, sand dollars and other ocean treasures. At high tide the width is approx 30 feet and at low tide 400 ft. Unlike the Cavendish Atlantic waters, we have no undertows and the shallow waters extend out for hundreds of feet, at which point they are still only waist-deep, making the beach perfect (and safe) for young children. This is a great beach for families! (Beach chairs, towels and toys are provided.) Rinse the sand off in the outdoor shower before heading into the beach house to relax.
The Sand Dollar Beach House has room for 8 guests. Please note that two single beds are located in a LOFT area. It is accessible by regular stairs but is open to the main living area. There is not a door separating the loft from the other areas. The loft bedroom is equipped with a TV and DVD player. This would be a great room for kids or just a space to sneak away from the vacation chaos.
The cottage has a screened in porch accessible through a patio door. This lovely area is perfect for balmy summer evenings. Listen to the waves crash while chatting with family and friends. After you watch the sunset, (and this is one of the best I have seen!) head out to the campfire pit to roast a hotdog and have a s'more.
There is a large lawn around the cottage for kids to run around and play games.
The main area is open concept. Relax on comfortable furniture that looks out to the beach and an amazing view ocean view. Cook up some seafood or other local fare in the fully stocked kitchen. Lobster anyone? There is a seafood co-op less than 5 minutes up the road that sells a variety of fresh seafood straight off the boat.
If you need a break from exploring, the beach house offers satellite TV, wifi and a DVD player. There is a small selection of movies, books, puzzles and games.
You will be in the heart of L'Acadie! This area of Prince Edward Island is still unspoiled (not overrun with other tourists!) and will provide a truly authentic Island experience for those looking for something a bit out of the ordinary! This is an Acadian area, where the people are incredibly friendly and speak both English and French. The Western part of Prince Edward Island is incredibly laid-back and easy going. You might be the only person on a sandy beach that stretches for miles!l
Close to the cottage:
*Fish market at a working fishing wharf is just down the road.
*Just up the road a few Km is a nice bakery/restaurant called Le Gallette blanche with has a wide variety of Acadian dishes and sweets such as meat pies and rapure.
Nearby:
*Wellington (10 minutes) is a small village with any and all amenities you could want.
* Summerside (25 minutes) is a bustling small city with tons to do, see and eat.
If you choose to head further up the western part of the Island you will find miles and miles of shoreline to explore, lighthouses, and quaint villages that are worth taking an extra look.
Cavendish is always an option, as well as bustling, sophisticated Charlottetown. They are a bit further away but would make a great day outing. I can provide a more in depth "curated" list of the Island's best tourist hot spots AND hidden gems known only to the locals.
Provided/included for your convenience:
Fully equipped kitchen
Bedding, towels/beach towels
Cooler
Lounge chairs
Folding beach chairs
TV, cable, Internet
Games, books, DVDs
Small selection of children's toys

We loved being right on the beach. We had a few very hot days and were a bit worried about not having AC, but the oceam breeze was amazing and kept us cool.

Have stayed here many times now and it never disappoints. A sand dune away from the ocean on a beach, when at low tide, you can walk for hours on. The cottage is perfect for families, the beds are comfortable, and the views are spectacular especially the sunsets! It’s a perfect Oceanside cottage that’s quaint, has everything you need including great internet for streaming, and the owners are responsive to our every need. 10/10!

This was a perfect house for our family getaway. All 8 of us enjoyed it a lot . Beach was only a 2 minute walk away. Almost a private beach .

The cottage was just as the pictures showed. We loved the location. My favorite spot for my afternoon naps was the screened in porch. We were pleased that the cottage had Netflix and liked the large table in the kitchen. We can see why this property is constantly booked.
One suggestion: When we arrived it was raining and the cushions on the furniture in the screened porch were wet. It took a couple of days for them to dry out properly. The look is nice when you walk in; however, if there is rain, maybe the cushions could be taken off the furniture for the next people coming in.

The Sand Dollar Beach house is a little slice of heaven. Beautiful home with everything you need - full kitchen, lovely bedding and loads of fresh towels! Tonnes of room for our family of 2 adults and 4 kids. The beach is spectacular with red sand and crystal clear waters! We will be back to this home away from home.

Super cute cottage. Clean and quaint. Comfortable beds. It was unfortunately really cold and rainy the days we went, but still had a day to explore the beautiful beach.

The cottage was wonderful. Can’t believe we swam in September. Thanks for sharing your home Kim and for going the extra mile for us!

Perfect spot for long walks on the beach where when the tide is out you can walk for hours barefoot looking for sand dollars of which there are many. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is large enough for 2 families. Kids would love the upstairs loft room! The property is large enough for our games and still room for an outdoor fire pit although we’ve just gone to the beach to build a fire. Neighbours are awesome and quiet but would help anyone if asked. Lots of fans for when it’s hot and ceiling fans everywhere! Nice, open and airy seaside house to hang your hat and nicely decorated for when you want to invite friends over for dinner and cook some lobster that you can easily pick up just down the road where the fishing boats come in. The screened in room and the huge veranda are excellent for watching the unique sunsets that are breathtaking every year we go! The owner is super and always accommodating especially through our many COVID reservation changes. Thanks Kim!

This is a very cosy cottage with nicely decorated bedrooms. The layout is well thought out and a sunroom is a very good addition. The kitchen has many extras. We enjoyed our stay and would have no reservation about recommending this gem to others. Very quiet environment.

Our family of three had a great time at this cottage, though there is room for many more. The beach was fantastic, especially at low tide. Our seven year old spent hours watching the hermit crabs and digging for clams/sand dollars. The cottage was exactly as advertised and we would absolutely stay here again.

perfect family vacation!
This location and property are amazing -- especially for a family with two young children (ours are 5 and 3). The beach is just at the end of the drive over a small sand dune. The kids LOVED exploring the tidal flats every day... and I can't imagine a safer place for them to do so! And the sunsets were amazing! The cottage is so well equipped and comfortable: we had plenty of space for four adults and the two kids. The kids also loved all the books, games, art supplies, and movies. The location of the cottage is great for day trips too. Everything felt like it was no more than an hour away!

Awesome stay again this year!
What a great week! We came back after staying here last summer and had an amazing week once again. The weather and the beach were perfect. The cottage is exactly what our family needs. Lots of room for everyone, but still cozy. We spent a ton of time on the beach, in and out of the water. Our older kids enjoyed "free-ranging" because the beach is so safe and quiet, and we could see them from the cottage. We'll definitely be back!

A perfect summer weekend
My partner and I, along with our 2 year old son spent a weekend here in June and wow, what a beautiful property! We were blown away by the view and everything that was available in the cottage (i.e every kitchen tool you could ever imagine needing). What pleased us the most (well, our son) was the number of children's toys, books and DVD's that were available. It was such a lovely surprise. We had lots of friends/family pop in throughout the weekend and loved that there was plenty of room for them to stay if needed. For those that aren't familiar with the area (or are visiting PEI in general), a lovely binder noting popular sites and restaurants was available which was a great touch. We certainly hope to be back!

THE Beach House!
We arrived to a very easy check-in process, everything was clean, beautifully decorated and the kitchen has every gadget you could need!
The beds were so comfortable, and our 7 year old boys were absolutely enthralled with the cool lord (was so awesome as there are books and activity books up there that they were excited to see and read)! There is a beautiful screened in porch that was helpful as we were ending the June Bug season!
The beach is literally a 10 second walk from the front steps, the water was so warm and every day there were tons of sand bars we could walk out and explore! The outdoor shower is SO convenient when you return, and appreciated that you could have warm water from it!!
I had messaged Kim about a cord we couldn’t find, and were provided with one very quickly!!
There were 8 of us staying here and we all still have our own space! Lots of room!
I would highly recommend staying at the Sand Dollar Beach House! Before we left we already talked about booking here again!

Peaceful getaway
We loved this clean and cozy cottage that was practically on the beach. We spent hours wandering the beach and among and over the sand bars. Sunsets were beautiful.
The kitchen was well outfitted for anyone who likes to cook. Beds were comfy and there were ample blankets (it cooled down at night during our stay). The portable heaters came in handy.
To keep our teens content we went into Summerside each evening for ice cream at Holmans. (I recommend it.) Samuel's cafe was great too (good coffee and a nice lunch menu.)

We Loved Our Stay!
Thanks so much to Kim for providing a wonderful vacation experience. The Sand Dollar Beach House exceeded our expectations in every way. We had a direct view of the beach, which was beautiful. The cottage was bright and airy and had lots of room for our family of two adults and four kids. The kids loved hanging out in the loft and we spent lots of time out in the sun porch. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything we needed. Thanks again, we'll definitely be back!

Exceeded our hopes!
Our stay here was lovely! We stayed at this home for a few days as a part of a 2-week northern Atlantic Maritimes adventure, and ALL of our kids agree that our stay here was their favorite part. They loved the loft, the coziness of the downstairs bedrooms, the porches, the toys and games, and the beach!!!

Too short a stay.
Sand Dollar Cottage is a wonderful spot..well stocked with cooking appliances & dishes, clean spacious sleeping & living areas. We enjoyed one sunset & a couple of walks along the sandy beach before Hurricane Dorian landed. Kim the owner sent us messages before the hurricane & came to see us the next morning. The power had been out since the night before & it was anticipated days before it would be back on. We had to leave then, but Kim understood & refunded our money for the stay 5/6 nights immediately. We hope to come back again to experience the west coast of PEI.

Wonderful family vacation
Sand Dollar Beach House was such a wonderful vacation home! It had everything we needed and more. It was clean and specious, wonderfully decorated. Attention to detail was everywhere. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. Kim was excellent to deal with and even provided some extra things that I inquired about. The view was breath taking every day and we spent part of each day on the beach in amoungst our island travels. I highly recommend this cottage!

Great location and fabulous cottage.
The cottage was perfect, clean with everything we needed in a nice community of cottages with an outstanding view and steps to a perfect private beach. We’d stay here again. Kim was very responsive and replied quickly, checkin was easy with lockbox.

Another amazing summer visit!
We had another wonderful experience at Sand Dollar Beach House. Kim, the owner, was so responsive leading up to and during our stay. For instance, one day we ran out of BBQ propane at lunch and we had a replacement by dinner hour! The property is fantastic, with all the comforts of home. We had many great evenings watching the sunset on the screened in porch.
I also can’t say enough about how great this place is with kids. Kim has thought of everything, right down to supplying a pack-n-play and change pad for our baby and nice books and games for our toddler. Also, the water is warm, the beach shallow and there’s no big waves or currents as a result - I have no issues about the kids playing safely near and in the water. A parents dream. We will be back again - it’s truly a magical place!

Kim was wonderful to work with. Very easy to contact and clearly concerned about making sure we had a wonderful stay. The property was perfect for our family of four who wanted some peace and quiet. Thanks for a phenomenal vacation!
