About this house rental
A 15 minute/mile drive on a mostly four lane highway and you are at the West Entrance to Glacier National Park to enjoy your adventure in paradise. Get a good night’s rest in your large bedroom with a king size bed on a Montana made log frame. The home is located on the edge of town across the road from a wooded area and down the hill is the South Fork of the Flathead River that flows from the great Rocky Mountains out to the Pacific Ocean.
Enjoy 1000 square feet of living area in your new home, Burnt Stump Lodge, located in Hungry Horse, a small town of about 900 people that was created when Hungry Horse Dam was built in 1949. The neighborhood the home is in, is one of the first areas developed during dam construction when the town formed and is still inhabited by working class folks, SOME THAT DO LIVE IN OLDER SHABBY TRAILERS, IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE. (I suggest to do your Google Street View).
The neighborhood is friendly and quiet. Drink your morning coffee on your balcony and breathe in the ionized air from the river below. Your view is of beautiful Columbia Mountain, the forest, and just a 2-minute walk away is the river where you can throw in a fishing line and catch some dinner! If you choose you can drive to the river access, too.
There is great cell service and internet. I also have a printer/fax/scanner that can be made available, as well as a portable Air Conditioner (house is very well insulated and with all the ceiling fans as well as a box fan. keeping cool has never been an issue in the past) A washer and dryer are provided. In the evenings, kick back and watch a movie on a huge 80-inch flat screen TV, with HBO, Netflix. Hulu. Disney. and Starz via the Prime network, also several movies in the archive on Prime, so plenty of options.
Glacier International Airport (FCA) is only 12 miles from the home. There is a grocery store in Hungry Horse where you can buy your groceries; larger stores 7 miles away in Columbia Falls; Costco and Wall Mart are 20 miles away in Kalispell. There are many restaurants in town and on the way to the park or prepare your own delicious meals at your peaceful retreat in your kitchen with all new appliances.

Dee and Jaz were wonderful owners of the property. Loved talking to them. The house inside was perfect. Large 85-inch TV, well equipped Kitchen and Dining Area and plenty of room to entertain. Even had a massage chair which I must say I used a few times! I would definitely stay there again. We were on the go a lot so did not get to enjoy the property as much but that's what vacation rentals are for.

Jaz was great to work with - she communicated promptly and was helpful. There were a few things that needed attention and she was was right on them. Location is convenient for GNP. We walked along the river. We would stay there again.

Open, airy, spotless, comfortable bed and pillows, and open living room. The kitchen has great appliances and is fully stocked with everything to cook in the kitchen or BBQ. We enjoyed breakfast on the quiet patio. Huge TV and recliners. Stocked with games! All in all a great place to stay and relax!

The property is conveniently located about 15 minutes from Glacier west entrance. The property was very clean and much larger then it appeared in pictures. It had everything we needed for our stay. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Would stay there again if ever back in the area.

We stayed for a week in this beautiful place and had a great time. The accommodations are excellent and we would stay again if possible. We conversed with neighbors who were nothing but kind and although some of the neighborhood appeared to need a cleanup we weren’t bothered by it at all. The mountain view off the balcony was fantastic! We enjoyed this property immensely.

Very well maintained property with all the comforts of home. Located within close proximity to Glacier National Park and other attractions. Our stay could not have been any better. The house is lovely, very comfortable, quiet and a great place to have after a day of site seeing. Would definitely stay there again if in the area. Dee is an awesome host! Definitely a 5 star rating all around and would give a 10 if I could.

This was a wonderful "home base" for our trip to Glacier NP. It is about 15 minutes to the west entrance. We enjoy staying out of the very touristy "villages" at the parks. The host is very honest about the area, so if that is a problem for you, perhaps this very comfortable place isn't for you. We found it to be very quiet and when you enjoy the tree view from the deck, the "trailer park" is not visible. The house had everything we needed and some wonderful extras like a grill and massage chair (most enjoyable after long days on the trail and in the car). The bed was very comfortable and I loved the pillows so much I noted the brand and style. The host was very helpful including emailing us to inform us about the park timed reservation passes, providing bear spray (almost had to use it!) and offering to start his generator so we could make coffee when there was an unplanned local power outage (very short). If you plan to do much on the east side, be aware that it is 1.5 - 2.5 hours to drive there depending on which area you are headed. The park is HUGE and with construction on Going To the Sun Road the long drives are inevitable. Thanks, Dee!

The house was on the edge of the small town near a river, so it was nice and quiet. It was very clean and very up to date. Dee met us there and was super helpful with getting settled. We came to hike Glacier, so the short drive to Hungry Horse was nice.

We had a wonderful time and throughly enjoyed the house. It was clean ,well maintained. The owner showed us around and made sure we sure we had everything we needed. The location was great only a few miles from Glacier National Park. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

We had a great time visiting Glacier National Park. The property is very clean and a convenient location to the west glacier entrance. The host was available by phone call or text with any questions and responded quickly. The neighborhood isn't the best around the property as the owner stated in the description but no one bothered us and the house is located at the end and has a nice fenced-in backyard.

The property is very clean, spacious and well maintained! The kitchen has everything you need. It’s just a 10 minute drive to the entrance of the park. There’s a small grocery store close by. We enjoyed our time at the property and would stay here again. Dee is a great host and can answer any questions you have about the area. A great place to relax after spending the day at Glacier!

Yes, you do drive through a couple of blocks of ramshackle homes, and you may be wondering where you are going, but just continue to the end of the road. Because, when you get there, Dee has created an oasis of comfort and ease. The bed is comfy. There is room to stretch out, plenty of pillows and towels, and all the supplies you might need. Dee supplies information about the area, bear spray, bug spray, anything you could need. It was so nice to come home, after a long day of driving and hiking, to such a warm, comfortable, and inviting space. Thank you, Dee!

This was a great place to come back to after busy days. It’s close to the park and offers all the comforts needed by exhausted park goers. It’s spacious, clean, and offers great amenities.

Although the property description warned of trailers in the area, neighborhood appearance worse than expected. House was decorated well, clean and quiet. Slept well. Had all amenities we needed especially bear spray and bells. A small plastic knob on the shower head came off while I was trying to adjust. I informed the owner in case he wanted to repair before next guests arrive. No good deed goes unpunished. He turned in an insurance claim. Sour note on an otherwise great trip.

House was beautiful and well stocked. The river access was amazing. I spent alot of time down there. Just make sure you come well supplied with food and drinks. Not many if at all close by food options. Overall it was worth every penny.

We loved our little home away from home. Dee made sure we were comfortable the whole time we were there…the house has no A/C so they made sure that is was comfortable and put a portable A/C unit in for us. Like the description says you have to drive by trailers to get to it, so it kind of made us worry a little bit, but the house is very well taken care of, and it shows! Thank you so much for making our trip one to remember! :)

We were met by the Host on arrival. He gave us a full tour. The home was much larger than expected. Newer furniture than in original ad. Many upgrades. Beautiful home. Near the river as well as restaurants and shops. Enjoyed sitting on private deck with our morning coffee as well as wine in the evening. Very comfortable. Felt right at home. We’d def stay again! ❤️

Good deal for the price!
The house itself was SO nice, it felt a little out of place in the neighborhood. Luckily Dee warns bookers in the details about the neighborhood. It is pretty run down and dirty in this area- at first I was kind of set a back by it but then after reading the explanation I realized that I should have read it all and then I would have known beforehand.
The house was immaculate, bed was comfortable, the yard was very nice!

Hidden gem tucked away in Hungry Horse
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was super clean and roomy, and the owners provided everything we could need, even bait for fishing and bear spray! The bed and bedding were very comfortable and we really enjoyed sitting out on the back porch and looking at the stars. We will definitely stay here again next time we come to Glacier.
If you stay here we also recommend dinner at Josephine’s Speakeasy just 4 miles away!

Best location in Hungry Horse
Cutest location for 2, very spacious and quiet location. Every amenity you could need for an easy stay. Dee is very kind, hard-working and has built a great home for others to share. Loved that the Flathead River was within walking distance. Great biking trails/paths near by and Glacier Park being close. If you're looking for a up class California stay, go back to California. This is Montana and you'll fall in love with this lovely home. We will definitely stay again.
