About this house rental
This finger lakes home has spectacular views of Owasco Lake from every room!! Because the house is situated on a point, there are breathtaking views of the north end, south end and east side of the lake. One of the greatest aspects of this home is the level lake frontage, which is pretty hard to come by in the finger lakes area. There are no stairs to worry about to get to the water or the house, so bring the grandparents and the kids! The spacious deck on the house is literally two or three feet from the water's edge and the 125' of beachfront gives you plenty of privacy. A lovely enclosed porch runs the whole length of the house. There is a nice grassy side yard for games/play and a privacy fence surrounds most of the lawn without blocking the view.
With approximately 2000 square feet, the house has a very comfortable feel to it. The large living room which also runs the length of the house on the lake side has beautiful hardwood floors and a stone fireplace. French doors with sidelights open onto the porch. There is a formal dining room that seats 10 but there is also a dining table in the porch, along with a wicker seating area. The entire house is filled with classy antiques, beautiful quilts and linens, and is very tastefully decorated.
There are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms with tubs/showers. A bathroom is on each floor. The large bedrooms has a queen bed, two other bedrooms each have a double bed and the 4th bedroom has two twin beds. Two 'rollaway' beds (like cots with mattresses that are portable) can fit in any of the bedrooms. The fully stocked kitchen is large (approximately 20'x14') and has just been recently remodeled! It now has hardwood flooring to match the rest of the home, new gorgeous granite countertops with plenty of counter space, new light maple cabinetry, plenty of recessed lighting, and all stainless steel appliances including a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Our gourmet kitchen also has basic appliances such as a toaster, blender, garbage disposal, mixer, and coffeemaker. All kinds of cookware, dishes, utensils, and gadgets are provided. The house is on public water and sewer, has cable TV and a DVD player, and also high speed wireless internet. A first floor laundry is also a plus! Linens are provided, but are not your responsibility to wash for the next tenants.
Central air is key for sleeping on those sultry summer nights. Many folks enjoy sitting on the porch at night with the windows open (have screens) and listening to the relaxing sounds of the water. If you like daytime water activities, it is only about 3 feet deep near the end of the dock and just gradually gets deeper further out. It's a great spot for kids and adults alike. Weeds are scarce in this part of the lake, which results in a much more enjoyable swim! The large deck has comfortable seating with a table and some lounge furniture along with a gas grill. If you don't have a boat, one can be rented at one of the three different nearby marinas and kept at the dock. Two kayaks are kept in the garage for you to use along with life jackets as well. There is also a campfire pit located at the edge of the lawn/beach for roasting marsh mellows with the family!

We had 3 generations at this lake house for a week. We were able to swim, kayak, fish, paddle board and bike. We also played games and put together a mystery puzzle on the deck that overlooks the lake. One morning I took a nice bike ride around Owasco Lake. It was a little challenging at times, and had great views especially on the east side of the lake. I was particularly happy that my 81 year old mom was able to kayak and swim at the property. There is a nice flat yard and easy access to the lake. There is a nice large table on the patio for eating outside, and also tables on the porch and dining room where you can eat. There also a nice park at the northern end of the lake which is just a few minutes away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Owasco Lake. The house has both a screened porch and a patio, and is only a few yards away from the lake. There are many farms nearby so there were many flocks of geese that would land in the lake and along with ducks and their young were our evening entertainment. It's proximity to the city of Auburn with restaurants and grocery stores was convenient. The kitchen was great, has full cable TV and comfortable chairs. The host, Christine, is very responsive and awesome to deal with. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms is a little steep but overall it was a great choice and one we will most likely make again.

Location and home is exactly as noted and the owner was super responsive. Really enjoyed our stay with three young children. Plenty to do or just relax, many options. Will return for sure!
4.8
The property was exactly as pictured and described. The location was ideal. It is close to Auburn and Emerson Park where there is a boat launch. Ample sheets, towels and blankets were provided. The addition of kayaks was most welcome and used every day. The one negative would be the condition of the deck. I believe some repair or replacement is warranted. Overall, it was a great week at the lake.
4.8
The house sits a few steps from the lake so very convenient to enjoy the lake. Very easy to accommodate our boat as well as paddle boards.
Plenty of linens and towels provided as well as a fully stocked kitchen.
Owner is very responsive for check in and any issues that may arise.
Had a great stay!

Great house. Very clean. Our kids enjoyed the kayaks and row boats, and we had a bonfire almost nightly. Lots of good outdoor space. The owner was excellent responding to any issues almost immediately. Overall I highly recommend both the property and the owner (she has other homes in the area as well).

We had a wonderful weekend stay at this lovely lakeside cottage. And when say “lakeside” I mean 20 feet from the back porch to the lake shore! (No trudging up and down flights of stairs so typical of finger lake houses to get to the water!) Our 5 year old grandson had the time of his life collecting clam and snail shells on the shore, and roaming around the lovely shore-side, privacy-fence-enclosed lawn. The weather is still cool in this area at this time of year so we made good use of the fire ring (again, 10 feet from the shore!). Our party made good use of the two kayaks on the property.
The house is a hundred year old gem, well updated. (I had to chuckle about an earlier review complaining about small bathroom stall and a slightly off plumb porch necessitating a flat rock under the porch table to make it level - that’s the way they made them a century ago! The age of the house adds to the charm!
Christine was an excellent host, and very helpful and timely in her response to our questions. An enthusiastic thumbs up for this property. We made lovely memories this weekend!

Our family, seven adults and a young child, stayed the week and had a great time. The house was comfortable for all of us and a short ride from many attractions. We enjoyed being right on the lake!

The location of the house was very ideal, and right on the beautiful Owasco Lake! The hosts were very helpful and had great communication with us leading up to our trip. We would highly recommend this vacation house!

We have stayed at several houses in the FL region, and this was by far the best. The house and property were a perfect size for 6 adults and 2 young kids. Great amenities, swimming and fishing, and rather private for a FL house. Might want to check the dishwasher - not sure it was working properly. Otherwise, all great!

Very enjoyable stay at this property. Great location with easy lake access, including a dock. Spacious, clean and comfortable accommodations. All cooking and cleaning supplies readily available. Owner is responsive and cooperative. Would gladly stay again.

We had decided before last Christmas to start making memories for our kids and grandkids and chose to do a family vacation at the lake. We are so thankful that we did. The house is located on its own point with a totally unobstructed view of the lake. We had morning coffee to enjoy the sunrise and campfires to welcome in the sunsets. We kayaked, rowed and had quality time with each son and the grandkids. We were on the water daily and everyone caught fish! One evening we were visited by a pair of otters and we saw loons most every day. It was a great setup for families with young kids with the large inclosed yard and waterfront. We spent the majority of our time at the house but made visits to Skaneatelas, Seneca Falls and Syracuse. Auburn is easily accessible and provides all of your needs. The people of upstate New York were very outgoing and kind. There was so much to do but best of all relax. It was peaceful quiet and calm, walks at the point were amazing. The internet was speedy as some business needed to be completed. Christine was more than accommodating in every way and easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend this rental and look forward to returning in the future.

We had a wonderful time in this 100 year old lake house. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. There is not much more I can say that hasn't been said in the other reviews. Yes it is on a fairly busy road but that wasn't a problem. Yes the floors and stairs creak but that is part of the charm. The central A/C is a big plus. The inside of the house is larger than it looks in the photos. Other than that the photos and the listing is accurate. The house could stand a new dock but it served our purpose for when we rented a boat for the day and again there are photos of it in the listing so the owner is not hiding anything. Plenty of outdoor space and chairs. Plenty of towels etc.
We had a GREAT time at this house and it was unanimous among the 6 of us. Communication with the owner was great and the check in and departure procedures were relaxed and easy.

This property was charming and comfortable. It had plenty of room for the 7 of us. My elderly mother was able to sleep downstairs on one of the 2 rollaway beds and have easy access to the downstairs bathroom. The wifi worked great for all of us. The newer kitchen was large enough for all of us to move around. There are plenty of eating areas inside and out. The views and location are wonderful. We swam, kayaked and relaxed. There is easy access to Auburn, where there is a Walmart super center. We also visited Lake Skaneatles, Ithaca and Niagra Falls (2 1/2 hours away). If you are looking for a nice family retreat, this is the place.

Kitchen & dining room are nice with plenty of room for six people.Overall, the house is very old with squeeky floors and very narrow steps going up to the second floor bedrooms. The main bathroom on the first floor has a very tiny room for just the toilet. Also, two of the side bedrooms upstairs, side porch floors and decking area are not level. The table on the porch was propped up with rocks under two of the legs to keep it level!? There was also a broken glass window at the bottom of the front stairs. We were also led to believe there would be adequate parking for our cars & boats. The parking is very limited, as the garage is basically an old, dirty shed very close to the road. Disappointing~This property needs plenty of work!

The house was perfect. Our son’s wedding was at the Springside Inn . House was very close . Lots of outdoor yard and indoor space to have company over . We did a luncheon for the bridal party the day after. There was plenty of room for everyone
4.8
Close to the wedding venue at Emerson Park. Although the wind didn't agree with our kayaking plans, coffee on the porch and listening to the water was just what we needed. Looks better in person than the photos.
Not perfect because it's an old lakehouse, which was expected. Charming, lovely and roomy. Well equipped.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
One caution if you have mold and mustiness sensitivities, this may not be for you. We do but added a little extra on our meds and all worked out. But we are from the desert so not exactly used to this either.

Our group 6 adults (ages 29-56), two 2 year olds, and two infants. The kitchen had everything we needed including garbage bags, cleaners, lots of plates (including a set just like I have at home!), glassware - just everything. The view was amazing and with 125' for lakefront and a fence along the back of the property we had plenty of privacy. The wifi was excellent and no issues with having enough hot water. All communication with the host was pleasant and helpful!

We got together with our family for the weekend and had a great time. Everything we needed was there to enjoy our stay. Right on the water and exactly as described. We would definitely go back.
4.8
Very nice place, but thought it wasn’t so on top of the road as it was.

Property was right on the water having excellent views and with all the great amenities, Everything was picture perfect. We enjoyed sitting outside with drinks and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Christine, the owner, was great to work with, very accommodating and responsive. We intend to come back next year again!!!

Nice house, nice view, unfortunately it rained perty much the whole time we were there.

A very cozy but spacious beach house with plenty of room for a large family to enjoy. If you are looking for a nice place to spend time on the lake, or to stay while close to the State fair then this will work for you.

The house is rare 4Br house sitting directly on the lake. It is about a 40 minute ride from Syracuse, meandering through beautiful farm land and rolling hills and mountains.
It is an older house modernized but retaining its country flavor. The kitchen is large and modern. With little children, we were so grateful for the washer/dryer! The other communal areas were more than adequate to accomodate our family for meals and hanging out. Our favorites were the enclosed porch and the wooden lawn chairs. We appreciated the privacy provided by the fence.
Kudos to Christine for answering all the questions I had in making the preparations to arrive. By the way, the graduation dinner was at IN-Between...FABULOUS!
I would love to return to rest and do NOTHING :)!
Thanks !

All questions were answered quickly and courteously. The house is a little dated, but it is also a very cute house with lots of inside and outside space. The house is cute, kind of like going to a family beach house. It is well appointed and has been well used. It is definitely a good place.

The view is wonderful and the lake is very calm and serene. We saw lots of loons, ducks and geese migrating south. There were a few boats on the lake - mainly fishermen. The weather did not cooperate much - no sun - but this type of weather is common during the fall months. The covered porch was large and kept us dry during the rainy days. The home was well stocked with dinnerware, utensils, and silverware. There were 4 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The family and dining room along with the kitchen and laundry room were downstairs. The host was very accommodating and the instructions for everything were easy to follow. Thanks Christine.

Overall this property was a great choice for a weekend away! It has absolutely stunning views right on the water and it was great that they had a row boat for us to use on the lake! The host was great and answered right away any questions or concerns. The only thing my group has commented on (and gave a 3 star rating) was for the cleanliness. For the most part the house itself was clean - the only issues we ran into were: we tried to use the one cot for a guest to sleep on and when she opened the cot there was a small brown item that resembled poop. So we did not use the cot. And the one bed upstairs had a tiny dead bug on the sheets. For the outside, the deck has quite a few spider webs and in the garage as well. We did not use the kayaks in the garage because they were dirty and covered in spider webs. Other than that, it was a great weekend and we would consider using this property again if given the chance!

Wow, for an older cottage the remodel of the kitchen, dining room and living room was great. We loved the sunroom, use of garage and kayaks, lawn and close proximity to the water. The privacy fence really helped to screen out the closeness of route 34 (38?). Our host , Christine, was so accommodating with early arrival and late departure. Overall it was a great experience.

We were 9 adults staying for 5 nights in September, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The house is set up nicely, with options for hanging either inside, on the porch, in the yard, around the campfire, sitting on the dock, and/or swimming. We rented a pontoon one day and had a blast. We had one problem and it was quickly resolved. We found Owasco Lake and Auburn to be fun and beautiful.

Charming old house with lots of character reminded us of Grandma's with the creaky floors, steep staircase, and narrow bathroom.. Enjoyed the deck with lots of shaded seating in the afternoon close to the water's edge. Quiet area with more boat traffic on the weekends than weekdays. Kayaks made fishing for yellow perch easy. Next door neighbor was only there on Sunday during the day. so we felt nicely isolated. We even saw an osprey catch a trout and fly by the house. We had ducks visiting us looking for food. Enclosed porch is what sold me on this place, even though bugs were not an issue. Tall solid white fence along the road kept grassy yard private. Remodeled kitchen was well stocked with everything which made cooking and baking a joy. Large dining room table was great for playing cards and eating all together (7 adults).. The Finger Lakes area is beautiful with farm fields, waterfalls, wineries, and friendly people.. We would definitely go back.

We had a great weeks vacation. This house was comfortable for 10 of us but would be exceptional for 6 or 7!!! It was very clean at check in! Communication was excellent with Christine.
The only semi-negative thing I could even say would be that the parking was slightly tight. But, we had brought 2 boats which caused some issues with the trailers.
The lake was super clear and great for swimming. Our grandkids loved it!
Having 2 bathrooms and a full laundry room on the first floor was great!
I would definitely consider staying again!

Accurate description of property, property manager answered all our questions promptly and friendly. There is plenty of room to have dinner together either inside or outside. Linens provided is a great help. We rented a pontoon and fishing boat, and no problem tethering to the dock.
