Victor was a great host! He is very friendly and knows a lot about the house and the history of Guadix. We had the master bedroom and it was amazing. Big room, nice bathroom. When you'll stay here you will feel that the house has a soul, no Ikea furniture but real traditional and unique pieces. The kitchen is wel equipped and there is a very nice outside area as well. Thank you so much making our 4 nights in Guadix so memorable
Nothing!

We felt very welcome by our host, Victor. The patio has something special and the house is minutes from the city center and the beautiful cathedral
You have to bear in mind that the whole house is decorated with the same furniture than 50 years ago. We thought it gave a bit of a weird atmosphere to be honest. You’ll like it or you won’t!

Imagine being handed the keys to a 3-story 16th century family home, a sprawling (and spotless) Andalucian palacete with charming furniture, a fully-equipped kitchen, reliable high-speed internet, patio, balconies, living room with 3 sofas, washer & dryer (dryers are super-rare in Spain) and a prívate garage in the center of the old town - like staying at your aristocratic Spanish grandparents’ house.
It’s unusually generous of this lovely family to make their ancestral home available in this way. If you stay here, you have a responsibility to respect and take care of it.
I was travelling alone by motorbike on a working (online) travel-trip and initially planned to stay 2 nights, but I extended to stay a week (grateful the house was available because of the pandemic). I’m happy alone, but the house is perfect for a group of friends or family (or several!) travelling together.
It was certainly an unexpected and astonishing treat, and an amazing experience. 5 years living in Spain, and this was a highlight.
Guadix itself is a bit depressed economically, but still quite interesting, and the region is fascinating. Lots of small towns with huge churches (they had to convert all those mosques…), strange cave dwellings, lots of back roads to explore with surprising geographic features, endless hiking trails through the Sierra Nevada, and Granada is barely 45 mins away. Disappointed so much is still closed because of COVID, but hopefully that will change soon.
You can always find little niggles with an old house. My grandparents’ house doesn’t have an elevator either, and I always make sure to bring my phone charger when I visit. I was happy to bring my own fresh coffee (expresso-ground) and I got some OJ, cherries and ice-cream at Mercadona nearby. Didn’t need a/c, because the house stays cool even in the heat, and there are lots of warm blankets if it gets cold. Lots of unexpected little conveniences because real people still live here from time to time.
If you want “perfect”, go to Disney World and stay in a Four Seasons. If you want an unforgettable experience living-like-home in a 16th century Spanish gem in a small town oozing with history, then this is your place.

Exceptional place. Its a real Palace on 3 floors fully equipped beautiful place. The host is very nice and helpful.
Everything was great. Only little thing is in some rooms was not as good heating. But is the same in everywhere in spain.
