Duck Haven is an amenity-filled, tastefully decorated home located in the ocean-to-sound Tuckahoe neighborhood in Duck on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This comfortable & well-maintained, family-oriented home in a cul-de-sac setting will have you returning year after year for a relaxing & fun-filled vacation.
Upon your arrival at Duck Haven, everyone will appreciate the ease & convenience of using the exterior Stair Tamer cargo lift to deliver suitcases and groceries to the 2nd and 3rd floors by use of a remote control.
As everyone settles into Duck Haven's 5 bedrooms (2 of which have adjoining bathrooms), they will be pleased to find that the king and queen beds and the lower bunk beds are freshly made with crisp linens & the top bunk beds are ready to be made with fresh linens that are placed atop the turned back coverlets. There are 12 sets of bath, hand & face towels on hand for when it's time to freshen up & bath mats are provided for all baths. Two kitchen towels are also provided.
Duck Haven is loaded with activities for "kids" of all ages, including baby & toddler gear, flat screen HDTVs in all bedrooms, the 1st floor living area, & the great room, BluRay DVD players on all TVs, a DVD & book library, games & puzzles, 3rd floor covered deck with 3 rocking chairs & 2 side tables, Nags Head swing & hammock, basketball goal, sports items & outdoor games and a private pool & hot tub with pool deck lighting. Everyone will enjoy the large & secluded sandy backyard with BBQ, picnic & play areas that are lighted for night-time use. The chef will appreciate grilling on their choice of a charcoal grill or a gas grill & the cook will enjoy the well-equipped kitchen and dining area which accommodates 12. The electronic keyless entry systems on both the carport entry door & the middle level front door conveniently allows Duck Haven's guests to easily come & go while enjoying the area's many activities. Load Duck Haven's multiple beach chairs & your own beach gear into the Wheel-eeze beach cart, and after a short walk to Tuckahoe's community oceanfront boardwalk, everyone will be enjoying the sand & frothy surf of the Atlantic Ocean. I was obvious this owner really cares about their guests. The house was the cleanest of all the houses I've stayed in over the last 15 years of OBX vacations. The decks were immaculate, which literally never happens. The outdoor furniture and hammocks were clean and web free. The pool was perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked and everything is labeled which really helps. The kitchen and bathrooms aren't fancy but are well maintained. Each bathroom had extra hooks for towels and swimsuits. Instructions for the TV's and internet are provided. The cargo lift was a back saver. The only issue we had at all was that the blinds had taken a beating. I'm not sure of the solution but finding a more durable option might be beneficial long term. I personally would put a King bed in the top floor Master. You have the space and most adults prefer a bigger bed when they're on vacation. The walk to the beach wasn't bad at all but might be a little long for someone with mobility issues. The private beach didn't have a lifeguard. We had a very calm ocean, had the surf been rougher I'm not sure I'd be comfortable without lifeguards in sight. The location just south of town was perfection. This was the furthest south we've stayed and I can't imagine being north now. The convenience to Kitty Hawk and larger stores makes a huge difference. We ate at Barefoot Bernie's and it was amazing. Bernie's Brother, not so amazing. The all grass mini-golf in Corolla was really fun for teens-boomers.(Spray with bug spray before you go)Overall, a really great stay. I would absolutely recommend the house and will stay again depending on who was in the travel party. Unfortunately the stairs that come with most of these properties have become difficult for my aging parents, so our next trip with them may require a kitchen and bedroom on the first floor.

This was our second time staying at Duck Haven, and it was just as beautiful as it was 2 years ago. The house was spotless and in perfect condition when we arrived. Our family loves the layout of the house and the proximity to both the beach and the sound (both are about a 5-8 minute walk). This place has become very special to us and we will definitely return!

The location of the home is great! The beach is a five minute walk and the town of Duck is totally walkable. The house itself has some drawbacks. The kitchen is VERY small which did not work well for my family of 13. Some of the mattresses were terrible and dipped in the middle. The pool was small and the beach chairs were broken. We were able to make everything work but for the price I was hoping for more.

Everyone enjoyed their stay. Owner replaced charcoal grill that was reported as broken right away. Check out needs a little work on explaining the locking of the doors. Other then that it was a great time.

1. No one ever contacted us that it was ok to go in, we did go in a few minutes before 6pm. 2. Two of the three bathrooms were dirty, one toilet was not flushed after someone went to the bathroom. Kitchen was not cleaned. However, after reading and completing our check list before leaving, it appears to me you have the renters doing the cleaning of the bathrooms and kitchen. I was charged a cleaning fee, as I'm sure the guests a head of me were. I was very disappointed in the cleanliness!

Though we didn't need, the house was equipped to be very child friendly. Between the beach and pool at the house my vacation was complete. Would definitely recommend this property.

Wonderful Experience!
We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Duck Haven! The house was very clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the layout worked very well with our group of three families. The pool was a good size for younger kids (one- to seven- year-olds in our group) and the hot tub was brand new and fit six adults comfortably. We also enjoyed having the sand portion in the back yard. The decorations were a fun touch too. In the words of my 7 y/o, Duck Haven was “SUPER EPIC!” 🤩

Loved it! The pool was a godsend because the weather was very hot! Just like we like it being from Pittsburgh we love the sun. The house is very comfortable and relaxing. The house was in great shape and could accommodate a lot of people. It was nice having the game room downstairs so the kids could stay up after everyone else went to bed. Although blocked from view because of trees, it was located next to Duck Rd which experiences a lot of traffic, so if you are a light sleeper that may be an issue. Our only negative about the property was a third floor railing fell off the outside porch when a child was leaning on it. It looked like it was held in with a couple of staples, and those were rusted. Luckily, no one was hurt, and we just kept smaller children off the balcony for the remainder of the trip. It was a very easy walk to the beach, and crabbing on the sound was a fun experience!

We had a wonderful stay with our children and grandchildren at Duck Haven. This home is well-appointed; it has comfortable large and airy rooms.APPRECIATED: home instructions; pool; lift; beach toys/chairs; welcome package; linens & towels; washer/dryer; kitchen/appliances; TVs; comfortable beds. UPON ARRIVAL WE DID NOT APPRECIATE: 2 smelly completely full garbage bins left in the car port from previous renters that we had to dispose of 2 days later on garbage day; no toilet paper in any of the 3 bathrooms; no dishwasher or dish soap; no paper towels; no Kleenex tissues; no kitchen dishcloths. Our suggestion to the owners is that they forgo the Welcome Package of goodies but assure that there is a starter supply of the above-mentioned articles in the bathrooms and kitchen. It is not always possible to assure a timely arrival by plane/rental car after the 4 p.m. check-in and before local stores close to purchase items such as toilet paper, etc., for the next day. Lacking such basic items was terribly inconvenient upon arrival. NOTE: Before our departure, we assured that the above-mentioned items were left for the next renters of Duck Haven hoping that the cleaning staff would not take them before the renters' arrival.

The Cartwright family did an amazing job at providing a family friendly vacation getaway for us! Just when we thought we needed to go out and buy something for our stay, we found it right there! We had 11 people staying at Duck Haven and the space provided was more than enough for everyone. The pool was fantastic, the hammocks provided outdoor relaxation and the location was great! The Cartwright's provided a great informational binder with instructions and recommendations which were so helpful! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our first time in the Outer Banks!

This property is located close to town and beach. The owners have provided tons of amenities to make the stay enjoyable. Lots of kitchen items, baby and beach gear, books, etc. The pool was terrific. Some issues with front door entry but managers resolved that mid week. House has many options to spread out when you have a big group.

We loved the house. Used the pool for hours. Rocked in the rocking chairs and watched the deer and rabbits play in the early morning. Loved the two person swing and the hammock. The house had everything we needed and there were plenty of notes to explain where things were located. Cargo elevator was a huge help. Appreciated all the information especially about the "midges". After the first night we made sure to close the blinds and keep lights off as needed. We would definitely enjoy staying at Duck Haven again.

By far one of the best vacations my family has been on. Everything was perfect prompt with instructions, lots of information in the household and in a perfect location. I believe we will certainly stay here again in the future. Clean, organized and spacious. Only a couple of comments for improvement would be the changeout of all the super firm adult beds. Back and hips still recovering from stay. The AC unit was governed at 70F and many times cycled on and off. For the expense the renter should be able to set below 70F. All in all a good vacation though:)

Great location for Duck
We are use to staying ocean front, but this was still a great little property in Duck. It would have been nicer with the community pool open. Some of the descriptions of the property and amenities were misleading, such as location of the pool and distance from the beach. Items also need updated. There was one beach wagon and two beach chairs that were broken. The description listed outside of where the paddle was located was not correct. We had to contact the company to have help to find it, because it was also placed on the wall backwards. It looked like a decoration rather than the remote attached to a paddle. The cleaning was not great. The bedding at stains, and you could tell the one cover had bodily fluid stains left on it. Another bedroom had the cover thrown up in the closet in a ball and clearly not washed either. The silverware was left in the dishwasher dirty. My family and I have been vacationing on the Outer Banks for 30+ years. It was not our least favorite but not our favorite either. We appreciated the friendliness of the realty company, as they helped us in a timely manner and were great!

I loved the directional notes that the owners left all around the property. It provided detail instructions about how to use everything.

Great 1st time vacation
We were first timers to OBX. House was reasonably priced. It’s way bigger than the pictures! Gave us plenty of room to spread out. Pool is a little on the small side but we were one of the only ones in the development to have a pool. That was the game changer! If we book again in this neighborhood it will definitively be this house or another with a pool! We also appreciated the extra stuff it came with that saved us from having to bring it. Beach wagons, crab pots, beach chairs, pool toys, etc. thank you for that! It’s not ocean front, but a short 10 minute walk and you are there!

Great stay with family
I would enjoy staying here again. Very nice pool and hot tub. The owners have added some nice touches. Pool area wired with stereo sound, ample outdoor lighting, beach carts and chairs were fantastic. Enjoyed access to sound and ocean. Nice community pool area. Plenty of seating for dinner table. Gorgeous decks and ample seating and hammocks. Kids enjoyed the bunk room and playstation 2 provided. Stereo upstairs with input from phone, towels and linens provided. Outdoor shower was awsome! Plenty of cookware and utensils. Enjoyed electric large skillet for making multiple pancakes easily.. Basketball hoop. Welcome basket! There were so many things that just made it easier. The worst thing I found with the whole place was one of the upper bunks was pretty squeaky with movement and the shower heads could be upgraded. All in all this was a fantastic place!

This house was everything we could ask for. It had a pool, hot tub, and 5 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The kitchen was furnished with everything you would need. The house also had a grocery/ luggage elevator so you did not have to carry these items to the third floor. Perfect house for a perfect get away. I highly would recommend it.

We had a great time. They house was well appointed. It had everything you could need. From the kitchen to playroom and outdoor fun! We would definitely rent here again. The only thing missing was a vacuum. We had a two year old with us and we were afraid to let him eat inside! Lol. Great stay!

Good value for the price. Didn't like the off white carpet, also the bathrooms and floors could have been cleaned better. Mirrors were dirty. Had a plumbing problem lst day there with the bathroom on the 1st floor slug coming out of the bath tub drain. Called the rental office and had to leave a message no return call. We had to purchase liquid plumber for the drain. We finally decided to go to the rental office and tell them of the problem they said they would contact the plumber and he would be there the next day. The next day he didn't show up.
Call rental office again and they sent a different plumber the next day. The also said they would reimburse us for the liquid plumber which they did not do.

We had another great vacation at Duck Haven. The weather was very warm so the pool was utilized every day!!! We also took the short walk to the beach where everyone enjoyed themselves. The house was big enough for the 12 of us, which includes 2 small children. The baby gates and crib/pack n play were a blessing. This was our 2nd trip to this house in 5 years, and both were wonderful family vacations.

The owners of this property thought of everything.Not only was the kitchen well equipped but everything was labeled as to where it belonged. The cargo container was especially helpful! Everyone enjoyed the assortment of games and of course the pool. This property was amazing. Breach Realty went above and beyond to make our vacation a great one!

We had a wonderful stay with our children and grandchildren at Duck Haven. This home is well-appointed; it has comfortable large and airy rooms. APPRECIATED: home instructions; pool; lift; beach toys/chairs; welcome package; linens & towels; washer/dryer; kitchen/appliances; TVs; comfortable beds. UPON ARRIVAL WE DID NOT APPRECIATE: 2 smelly completely full garbage bins left in the car port from previous renters that we had to dispose of 2 days later on garbage day; no toilet paper in any of the 3 bathrooms; no dishwasher or dish soap; no paper towels; no Kleenex tissues; no kitchen dishcloths. Our suggestion to the owners is that they forgo the Welcome Package of goodies but assure that there is a starter supply of the above-mentioned articles in the bathrooms and kitchen. It is not always possible to assure a timely arrival by plane/rental car after the 4 p.m. check-in and before local stores close to purchase items such as toilet paper, etc., for the next day. Lacking such basic items was terribly inconvenient upon arrival. NOTE: Before our departure, we assured that the above-mentioned items were left for the next renters of Duck Haven hoping that the cleaning staff would not take them before the renters' arrival.
