Me and a couple of classmates stayed here due to having a clinical rotation in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. It was very cost effective and convenient to get to everything we needed to! The neighborhood is quiet and there are plenty of activities to do within the area.

Meh, wouldn’t recommend…
Poor communication from the property manager prior to arriving. The floors hadn’t been cleaned prior to us arriving, everything in the kitchen was thrown in cabinets and completely unorganized. Not enough plates or cups for everyone in the house to be able to use. Pot and Pans were warped and extremely burned on the bottom. One of the beds is so old and uncomfortable you could feel that it has been slept in for years. Property manager showed up the day before our check out saying that we should have been out by the 17th even though we booked it till the 18th. Wouldn’t stay again or recommend to anyone unless the property manager decide to upgrade the space. You can tell they have never had to live in it.

Below average accommodations
Starting with the good, the beds were comfortable and the shower water pressure was powerful. The pictures in the listing must have been old because the house did not look as nice as the pictures. This home is old and not updated at all. It is advertised as sleeping 6 (we reserved for 5 people) but only given 4 towels and washcloths. Kitchen only had 6 dishes and utensils for four people. Only two of the three window air conditioners worked. The house needs a good deep cleaning. Floors are uneven and seem unstable in places. The shower has moldy caulk and the spout almost came off when turning the shower off. Although we did not use the dryer, it is not safe. The dryer vent tube was broken and would have vented into the house. Although the home is on a quiet street, it is in a lower income neighborhood.

Poor experience
Very poor communication from owner. Upon arrival find the property very dirty-dead bugs, sticky dirty kitchen floor. Leaving next day to obtain cleaning supplies and groceries I had questions on the unfamiliar lock pad. No reply from owner with text, message on vrbo site or call(only 1 example of poor communication) Did not complain about dead bugs and dirty place but when I later made him aware there was zero effort to make it right or apologize. Much more I could share.

Nice stay
House is close to downtown Durham, quiet neighborhood. Owner was quick to respond to questions on the VRBO app. The listing does say it has AC but the house has window units in the bedrooms and a tower fan in the living room. However, we found it to be just fine! We were never hot in the house. The microwave in the kitchen didn’t really work (we had an oatmeal cup in there for 10minutes, box said it should have only needed 1 minute, didn’t get warm) and we forgot to try the one in the bigger bedroom to see if that worked better. Stove/oven worked great though. They do provide a towel and washcloth for each room so depending on your length of stay/ppl in your party, you might need to utilize the washer/dryer or bring an extra. All in all a nice play to stay!

Not what I thought
It's important to see pictures of the whole house including bathroom and appliances to get a real feel for the place. The fridge may have been from the 80s. The linen was stained, not enough towels and wash cloths, couch was stained, no central AC, or AC unit in the living room, there was a small fan that didn't do enough as these days have been really hot. When traveling and paying a decent amount for a stay I expect a more modern experience as well as cleanliness its very uncomfortable sleeping on a bed that has stains although linen seemed to have been washed just do away with stained linen..
