Everything about this house is wonderful. The large deck faces the river and is an inviting place for morning coffee or a bbq. We grilled on the new Weber grill twice. The covered patio is a serene place to read or eat breakfast. The house is a gem, comfortable and warm, very clean and stocked well. The location is perfect. My wife worked on zoom and I bicycled daily. The hosts obviously take pride in what they do and were very communicative. This is the best vrbo we have ever been to. It was a great week in a beautiful home.

We loved our week - a great home base to explore the area: hiking, birdwatching and waterfalls. Thanks Mario and Danielle!

Languid river, tall trees in all their shaded canopy, and an artistic hideaway. A small nook to sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch in inclement weather. An expansive deck to enjoy in fair weather. And inside all the comforts of a caring home. Oh, and be sure to notice the intriguing, intricate artwork throughout.

This was my fifth visit and my wife's fourth, and fortunately, nothing much has changed, except for some nice new deck furniture. Once we unpack and settle in, the quiet and beauty of the cottage and its location transform us. We will continue to make our April visit an annual tradition.

My son and I wanted a place to stay where we could just take a deep breath and relax. This is the perfect spot! No one guessed it would be 0° for 2 days ... but there was plenty of heat AND a fireplace to keep us warm. We actually turned the heat down and shut fireplace off because the den is so cozy.
We bought several days of food and made good use of the kitchen to make dinners. (No dishwasher but no needed.)
The bedrooms were terrific! The bed in the master BR was superb. Soft bedding, excellent pillows and terrific duvet with extra blankets. The other BR is upstairs. Equally comfortable and attached to a private sitting area with nice couches (the music room). We opted for the stained glass windows, fireplace, couch and easy chair downstairs, but the other area is a bonus.
The art in the house is lovely - all calling you to look closer. We laughed at the hidden light switches - we were stumped - but found the answer(s) in the cottage handbook. The dark wood throughout the house was truly lovely. The various handpaintings in the house were nice.
Because it was so cold, we did not open other doors to the back of the house to go to the back porch. The house is ON the banks of the Housatonic River - it froze over for most of our stay. That's cold. We saw a train pass under the area below the house. Cool! We hoped to have breakfast in the room connected to the Master BR but it was too cold. Something to look forward to on our next visit!
We will be back in a few weeks. Thank you Danielle and Mario!

Perfect long weekend getaway for four adults. Nice quiet location to rejuvenate. The back porch is the perfect place for morning coffee. You could spend a couple hours just poking around the art work. Danielle was a great host and responsive to every question..

The house is wonderful. Maintains the old charm of it being built in the 1800's, with the modern upgrades of today. The gas fire place was wonderful on the cool evenings/mornings. There was a slight musty odor when we arrived, sprayed some lysol and problem solved. Great area for a very relaxing weekend or vacation. Had a great time and would stay again!

Just as advertised! Lovely, comfortable, clean. Stairs to second floor are a little steep but great lighting and railing are a huge help. We would love to return!

Magical house on the river!
Wow! If you are even slightly considering booking this little cottage, do it!! Pictures don't do it justice. Upon arrival, you feel like you've entered a European stone cottage! The river views are stunning! Mario and Danielle have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We can't wait to plan a return visit!

Sad to leave, as usual
This was my fourth stay here and my wife's third, and we still get excited about staying here. The beauty and quiet of the location, the charm of the cottage, and the abundant wildlife make for the perfect place to unwind and recharge. We were disappointed we didn't see any trains this time, but we did see a black bear walking along the tracks! We'll be back again.

We wanted a quiet place to recuperate from watching three of our grandsons on a daily basis. Upon entering we felt as if we had been transported to a villa in the Italian countryside. Obviously a lot of talent and pride was accessed when updating this home. I especially liked the marble work in the bathroom. Thankyou for sharing this special place with us. Hope to make it back again soon.

Beautiful and relaxing cottage
This was my second stay at the cottage and it has been perfect both times. It has beautiful views of the river and is very close to the great falls. The cottage is very quiet and comfortable for 2 people. It also showcases some of the wonderful artwork that the owners have created which adds to the charm. It was a delightful visit!

Staying here felt like vacationing in Italy. Breathtaking views of the Housatonic river, beautiful art work throughout the house and feeling like I was home the moment I walked through the door. Thank you again for a wonderful break from day to day life. It was magical.
