My wife and I stayed in La Verkin earlier this year and found it to be a great starting point when visiting some of the national parks in the area. We returned again at the end of the summer with our kids and wanted to be in the same area. Kay and Connie were great hosts and made us feel at home. They were very responsive and went out of their way to make our stay as good as it could be. If you are looking for a place that is only 30 minutes from Zion at a much more affordable rate, this is a good choice!

Perfect location for our family! The kids loved having their own rooms, and we made excellent use of the kitchen and laundry room. The fresh eggs and homemade cookies were the sweetest touches! Hosts were friendly and had a fully stocked place to use. You’ll have everything you need, from laundry detergent to a fully stocked pantry! Very conveniently located to Zion (maybe 25 minutes) and about 2.5 hours to Bryce or North Rim. Highly recommend for families!

The stay at Kay & Connie’s Cackleberry Roost apartment was the best! It was clean, comfortable, and had all the components of home. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and seasonings. The bathroom had plenty of towels and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash). The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for all 6 of us. It was a special treat to gave eggs, apple juice, & local coffee left for us when we arrived!
The location of the apartment was perfect. It is a very quick drive to Zion NP and is in close proximity to sand hollow reservoir (a favorite!) and Bryce NP. The town of La Verkin is adorable and has lots of great restaurants and locally owned businesses. There’s also a grocery store really close by.
Overall, we loved staying with Kay & Connie. They are lovely hosts. We enjoyed meeting them and will most definitely return!

Highly recommend this home! It was clean, well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Beds were comfortable. The fresh eggs, apple juice and fresh baked cookies were great!! Connie was very easy to communicate with, my son left his charger and she will be sending them back to us at home.

Connie and Kay have provided everything one needs in their 3 bedroom apartment in the charming town of La Verkin. On a quiet, shady street with nearby restaurants and shopping, we found a clean, comfortable, and well-organized place with a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and laundry facilities. We hope to return again soon.

There were lots of little extras.

Nicely converted basement home with incredible hosts. Very thoughtful place to stay for your Zion adventures. The host thought of everything, including home made cookies and local coffee. Kitchen is well appointed with all the modern conveniences and a gas bar b que outside.

The hosts were the best part. They turned what would have been a nice trip into something very enjoyable, pleasant and memorable. They were also very accommodating having everything we needed for our time there. All the necessary things we're there, available and functioning. We've done a number of vacations in the last few years, these were by far the best hosts we've met.

We enjoyed spending three nights here while exploring Zion National Park. It’s a straightforward 35 minute drive to the park so we enjoyed having the option to eat near the park and drive back afterwards or go grocery shopping in LaVerkin and cook in the well stocked kitchen. Connie and Kay are extremely responsive and kind with eggs, juice, and warm cookies. Everything was very clean and the old school Nintendo was fascinating for our teenagers!

The house was very comfortable with 3 very nice bedrooms, 1 bath and a well equipped kitchen. The house is conveniently located near Zion as well as restaurants and stores.
As the other reviews note, our host generously provided fresh eggs, apple juice and freshly baked cookies. I highly recommend this home.

Kay and Connie are thoughtful hosts that have created a safe and comfortable place to stay. The farm fresh eggs, the fresh baked cookies, a grill, full kitchen, old school Nintendo and 3 bedrooms made this a perfect home base for our family of 5 for
our Zion/Southern UT adventure. We don’t have a single critique and would definitely come back!

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our visit to Zion. We traveled with our kids ages 2-17 and every one of them enjoyed the house and were sad to leave. Kind people, good location, plenty of recommendations and hospitality, spotless, comfortable, every amenity that you could think of, and so many extra little touches that just added to our wonderful experience. The coffee, juice, eggs, and fresh cookies were such a nice and thoughtful bonus too. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay! The only bad thing is that no other place will measure up to it now. :)

Loved this location, about 20 miles from Zion. Great hosts! Fresh eggs from their chickens for breakfast, locally roasted coffee, and juice. Everything in the apartment was well marked and easy to find.

The communication and check in process was the easiest I have ever done at VRBO. The hosts welcomed us with farm fresh eggs, apple juice and some really good coffee from a local shop just down the street (you have to try this place) they also baked us homemade cookies! The location is great! You are just 20 minutes from Zion, 2 hours from Bryce Canyon and 2 hours from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon! You can literally hit 3 National Parks in 3 days which is what we did! The accommodations are clean and they have everything you can think of for your trip including coolers and hiking poles. I highly recommend this place for a family or even a single or a couple!

Connie and Kay are such thoughtful and kind hosts. The little added touches such as fresh baked cookies, apple juice, and fresh eggs down to the already supplied herbs and spices and bathroom supplies made staying here feel easy and right at home. These hosts go above and beyond! Thank you!!

We stayed 9 nights while visiting Zion National Park. The drive was very easy and only about 25-30 minutes to the park gate. We had a large driveway to ourselves to park our vehicle and could easily pull right up to the private entry to unload our things. The interior was very spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals and it had available spices/salt to use/sugar/splenda, etc... The kitchen also had a separate filtered water spout that was extremely helpful in filling our water jugs for our hikes.
We found the beds to be very comfortable. The mattresses were in good shape. I like a firm mattress and my husband likes a slightly softer one. The mattress was a good fit for both of us and we slept well.
Connie and her husband, Kay, were fantastic hosts. Upon arrival they had some homemade chocolate chip cookies to drop off. Fresh eggs were already in the fridge and they were delicious! They also had fresh coffee grounds for us to use from the local coffee nearby.
Bathroom was spacious as well with great water pressure, plenty of hot water, and shelf closet/drawers for our toiletries.
The included washer and dryer were a welcome amenity. As we flew and did not want to check our luggage, we packed light so being able to wash our clothes was an added perk.
You will not be disappointed with a stay here. Book it!

We really enjoyed our stay, and Kay and Connie are wonderful people. We had a nice visit with them and after that they respected our privacy .The cookies on arrival were a treat along with the fresh eggs and apple juice in the fridge. It was a quiet neighborhood and we really enjoyed sitting out and enjoying the sun after our long snowy winter, and there are plenty of attractions nearby to see along with numerous places to eat, As I told Connie ….thank you for sharing your home with us!!!

Connie and Kay are such great hosts. Their walk out basement VRBO is stocked with everything a group or family may need for a place to really feel like home. You can cook meals here with everything supplied! A grocery store in La Verkin is super close and affordable. This is my second time staying here. I first came with a group of five friends and knew right away I would return with my family. The short drive to Zion is beautiful. St. George is a neighboring town where we visited the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site, ate lunch, then climbed and hiked around the amazing and free Dixie Rock. Pack less, cook meals, do laundry and feel at home with the best people at Cackleberry Roost! La Verkin is the best little town with a quick drive to Zion. We beat the crowds every morning. You’ll have no regrets booking here.

Amazing and easy. Everything we needed was provided and then some. Very close to ZNP. Beds were very comfortable. My kids loved access to MarioKart although we are all terrible at playing.
I would highly recommend this place and would stay again in the future.

Cackleberry Roost was a great place to stay. The hosts had fresh eggs and apple juice in the fridge and coffee beans for us, and brought us warm fresh baked chocolate chip cookies when we arrived. The place was easy to find and close to everything we needed. Zion was a short drive away and there was a nice walking trail by the house.

Property was a great location, short drive to Zion or St. George. Very comfortable with everything we needed. Host was very easy to work with, and so thoughtful. We had fresh eggs, juice and coffee waiting, so we didn’t have to run out for breakfast the first morning after a long travel night. Would book again without hesitation.

We loved staying here over Thanksgiving with 4 adults (36-72) and 2 kids. The accommodations were clean and we were able to have a wonderful thanksgiving there with the fully stocked kitchen. Our son who is 4 yo enjoyed all the outdoor activities like the trampoline and climbing trees. It was a perfect place to return to relax after a day of exploring nearby parks.
We enjoyed the extra personal touches like the fresh eggs and coffee. We definitely recommend place this place for families.

Our stay at the Cackleberry was exceptional! The hosts are fantastic and very helpful. The eggs are wonderful- do not pass up the opportunity for fresh eggs! It's a great comfortable, relaxing place to stay. Ask your hosts about off road tours if you are interested 😊. Would definitely stay again if back in that area!
