About this house rental
This spectacular, prize-winning executive home is on Lake Tahoe's South Shore. To reach the front door, one must enter into a great stone cavern formed by massive granite boulders under a sod roof. The end of the fifty by thirty-five foot living room is formed by a single stone. In the center of this great room lies another boulder and a mossy trout pond. This brings indoors the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, patios, and lawns. Two gigantic fireplaces rise and pass through the room's twenty-three foot ceiling. Overlooking all of this are two sweeping, curved balconies which provide additional views of the mountain peaks and green forests that have made the Tahoe Basin world famous.
'Stonehenge' is a beautiful vacation home built on a rocky ridge overlooking the woods and meadows of Tahoe Valley and the crest of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. It is located at the edge of the El Dorado National Forest and no house or rooftop, nor street or wire, mar its magnificent view.

The house was great for our large group. The views are absolutely breathtaking!

Amazing view
This is not a luxury experience, but great contact with the host.
If any guests have mobility problems, it could be a challenge as
the beautiful downstairs levels are largely stone.

One of a kind
One of a kind property! Loved it! A couple of problems; snow removal, main floor bedroom toilet didn't flush unless you reach your hand back into tank. Main floor bedroom TV not working. Hot tub not HOT!

Perfect for a Family gathering
The spaciousness of Stonehenge home combine that with great vistas, the morning sunrises, the evening sunsets, and star gazing at night, make this one of the best places to gather a family on vacation. The large outdoor picnic table allows for a meal and fun conversation. So close to hiking and Lake Tahoe, it was a perfect getaway.

Once in a lifetime experience
When are going to ever be able to say you stayed in a house built around natural boulders. What a unique experience. This house is a step back into early 1970s. Rosemary is absolutely the perfect host. She made recommendations for hikes all of which were amazing and a little less congested. I would have loved to have a coffee with this sweetheart. This is not on the lake but only 15 minutes away. My kids had so much fun climbing the rocks and the starlit skies were a perfect end to the night. A trip we will never forget. Would very much recommend.

What an incredible property!
My girlfriends and I had the best time at Stonehenge! Rosmarie was a great host and very helpful leading up and during the trip. And wow this house was so cool! It had so much character and the views outside were amazing, we were in awe when we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. There was plenty of space for us to all hang out and everything was clean and comfortable. The spring weather was pretty sporadic, we had beautiful sunshine one day and a thunder storm the next, but it actually made it even more fun! We were there for 3 nights, I only wish we could’ve stayed longer! Definitely would love to go back in the snow. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Nice View!
Overall we liked staying in the house! Nice view!!! I would like to suggest a few things, living rooms were small and were a little old, it could use an upgrade on the furniture. We could use only one chimney, it had about 4. The balcony rails were loose and dangerous. But we had fun and enjoyed time with the family!!!!

One of a kind - amazing home
From the moment you drive up, the moment you walk to the front door, the moment you step inside, and all the moments after that....this is almost indescribable. And that’s also true for the back yard, the hot tub, the incredible rock formations, the mountain vistas. Very secluded and private. Adding to the charm and mystique — the decor is pure 60’s and 70’s and a bit rustic. Our extended family of 12 (ages 20 months to 74), including 3 small dogs, all had a wonderful time. Did I mention the cottontail bunnies, chipmunks, little lizards, blue jays and hummingbirds out the back door? We will be talking about this vacation forever.

Not satisfied
When we initially saw this property in Pictures we were so excited but honestly didn’t meet our expectations, kitchen is small and needs upgrade, they advertise it sleeps 14 but in reality it doesn’t and there is no sit out area where 14 ppl can all sit together for a chit chat. The rooms are small and two of the restrooms has no doors, it matters when you go with your friends. We didn’t get proper hot water one day during our stay. There are many other small issues but overall This property needs some maintenance and upgrades. Definitely little disappointed with the stay.

Magical Getaway
I invited a dozen friends to celebrate my birthday over a weekend at Stonehenge.
The main areas are spacious and beautifully designed to create little spots where people can have a moment to themselves but not be too far from the action. There are four bedrooms, a game room, and an upstairs loft area that has two couches. The hot tub is perfectly placed with a stunning view and complete privacy - you feel like the only person in the entire mountain range! Kitchen could use a little updating but was well-stocked. We cooked nearly around the clock and had plenty of dishes and utensils. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked also.
The whole decor is a little more quirky and cabin rustic than comes through on the photos; wouldn't say it's very modern. But I think that was part of the charm!
Rosmarie was easy to reach and very helpful if we needed anything.

Some day, years from now our children and grandkids will be back at Stonehenge. The place is spectacular with all the toys and tools any one could use. We love it!

One of the most fun rentals we've ever stayed in
This place is just magical. sits on top of a hill view unbeatable views right out your back door. we stayed with two other families and our kids were always outside climbing on the rocks and exploring. You'll be hard pressed to find a funkier house than this one. Dishwasher broke while we were there and the owner, who always made herself available, had a repairman there the next morning to fix the problem. She also recommended that we go to Angora Lakes while we visited Tahoe. We did - and you should too! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

A great trip!
We really had a great time at Stonehenge. We were travelling with our adult children and grandkids, ages 2-8, and it was perfect for us. The kids loved all the unique, natural features the home and property offers, It was fun to watch for the chipmunks and rabbits to come by in the morning, and there were lots of rocks to climb. The views were phenomenal, and we couldn't help but wonder what it looks like in the winter. For us, the trip was really about spending time with our grandkids and giving them a place to stay that they will never forget. Rosmarie was very responsive and accessible when we had questions before our trip. I loved the family touches inside. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much!

Beautiful home, beautiful view, and great experience
My friends and I go on a yearly cabin/snowboarding trip and decided to stay in Tahoe this year. Everyone loved Stonehenge; it was very large and spacious with beautiful architecture and decorations. The yard is HUGE and windows made for a great way to wake up in the morning. Rosmarie is also very quick with getting back to requests for any help. Thanks for the great stay!

Unique place
My family and friends were so excited when they stepped into the house and we had a great time!
It is a truly unique place and we enjoyed every moment in there.
We especially loved the outside and backyard area. Super beautiful!
The house has an awesome set up with sweet little details.
It was clean and the beds as well as all the seating and chill areas were super comfortable.
Rosemarie made sure that everything was okay and even called us on the first night of our stay. She responded to every question I had prior to our stay within the shortest amount of time.
Thank you, Rosemarie, for this beautiful experience!
We will try to come back next year!
