A serene location close to the rail trail but quiet and private

The approach to the home is spectacular-a long tree-lined drive with overhanging branches leading to a private estate with English gardens. Our bags were delivered before we arrived and the host family had arranged to have them delivered to our apartment. We had the "loft"- a second floor apartment built upon the garage which had also been built out into an apartment. The resident of the downstairs apartment came out to greet us and was a very charming and welcoming hostess. We found the apartment to have all of the amenities we needed and we were quite comfortable, The location on the rail trail was convenient for our travel but required a significant walk to get into town for dinnner.

Great location, comfortable, clean and good price

The location and property were gorgeous. The loft itself comfortable with good amenities. I’d stay again for sure.

Not the property itself as that is great but ,having to ask for toilet paper was awkward, so if a little more diligence checking supplies before occupancy would overcome this small issue. The dish/satellite TV didn’t come with any instructions on how to operate the remotes so we couldn’t use the TV/dvd etc, so if instructions could be written up I’m sure that would be helpful for guests.

Quiet comfortable accommodation

Lovely loft apartment in a quiet idyllic setting. Had everything I needed for an overnight stopover. Was very warm and comfortable on a snowy, cool night.

The snow!!! but it added to the adventure of the weekend

Beautiful place in an excellent setting.

Very roomy accommodation with private entrance. An extra leather couch was there for seating and plenty of cupboard spaces available. Everything what you could wish for as a guest was provided, also the breakfast was plentiful. We felt like, living in a Botanical Garden, everything around the house was perfect with garden and pond. Beautiful view from the upstairs windows. We will certainly recommend the place to anybody. Unfortunately we could not stay longer, because we had booked already another place somewhere else.

Perfect for us.

We loved the location, the outlook, and how delightful the loft was. The angled wooden ceiling was a beautiful feature. The loft was beautifully presented, immaculately clean, and very welcoming.

There was nothing that we didn't like. It was an excellent place to stay.

At the top of a house under the roof with separate kitchen area and bathroom and a combined living and bedroom area. The bed was super comfortable if you like a firm bed. The interior was nicely decorated. Great collection of DVDs and books and Netflix available. Super location on farm or lifestyle block and next to rail trail.

Wifi was a bit slow but we used our data. You should have a car because it is distant to shops and restaurant. Cooking would be possible with hotplate available and a grill oven but we preferred to get some food outside. There are good takeaways available in Alexandra.

Highly Recommended Stay

Secluded but easy to find and conveniently located between destinations so good for those wanting a break from the main tourist track but not wanting to go too far off it.

No direct (in-person) contact to hosts. For some this may be a big plus point. It meant privacy was respected for example, and no fuss/no hassle (easy and flexible check-in and friendly&quick digital contact). For us it just felt a little bit weird staying somewhere without meeting the host - despite them presumably living next door.

Overall very comfortable and enjoyable overnight stay.

Very peaceful and comfortable stay. I was travelling with my adult daughter so bed settee was a good option. We were on the road quite late and were grateful that Kerry and Graham stayed up to welcome us.

I was a little confused regarding additional breakfast payment as I thought it was included when I made booking but was an additional charge. Probably needs clarification for future guests.

We would return to Rail Trail Resort Retreat again.

The venue was cottage style, quant, charming and comfy. It was only a short drive either way to Clyde or Alexandra. And, the owner Gràham, presented me with a lovely bottle of wine for my birthday - that was a lovely surprise.

All was well - very comfy bed too.

Exceptional

We loved the park like grounds and views from the dormer window. The Continental Breakfast provided gave us a good start to our day. Bed was comfortable and we appreciated the pedestal fan that was very necessary with the 30-31 degrees C heat. Location close to village, Countdown and eateries. Friendly hosts.
