comfortable stay in orestiada

vintage hotel but clean and proper

A “vintage” hotel, feels like going back to the Eighties but still is one of the few solutions in Orestiada and I must say it is clean and all in all a good solution! I had an upgrade from single to double single use which was very appreciated. I suggest to stay here

only needs a refurbishment to get a fresher look

Greek hospitality should have advanced since 1923. Overall OK, not for work though.

Clean and spacious room, featuring plugs alongside the beds, adequate light (natural and lightbulbs around). Comfy beds indeed, has a sofa and a coffee table and a kettle in the room. You'll be provided with towels and shampoo/shower gel, and the WC was also quite clean.

Long story short, value for money isn't great. Okay, COVID-19 is a thing, so I'll cut them some slack, but still: Our biggest disappointments were the WiFi, (~2-3mbps download, speedtested, which is way below average even for Greek hotels, and doesn't allow for work), and the breakfast which is delivered prepackaged in a carton box, per person, allegedly due to "COVID-19 reasons" (even though I've travelled frequently during the pandemic and hadn't encountered this before). Bread and sweetbread were stale, and apart from a very honest and courageous little spinach pie and a tangerine, the rest was mostly non edible. It seems that the COVID excuse is used to lower the running cost of the breakfast aspect. Valuing the breakfast and the WiFi, as someone travelling for work, this was quite the negative experience, accompanied by the owner's reaction when we brought the issue up. (Other minor things: for a two night stay there's no clean towels on day 2, in case that's of use to you. Also the room is not carpeted, though there's A/C, and central heating in the WC).

The halls smelled a lot after cigarette smoke.

The room was very nice. The breakfast package was delicious. The lobby and the room were quite nice.

Exceptional

I liked the atmosphere of this hotel. Built in 1923, it has retained much of it's charm. Some people may say that in needs refurbishing, but I loved being placed back in time, back 98 years to such an important time in the history of this part of Greece. Having said that, make no mistake...the rooms are equipped with the latest technology, a very comfortable box bed and great staff. I loved my stay and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

I'm in the hotel right now. Although I was able to make a reservation at booking next weekend, she was told that there were groups and that there was no room. it is not ethical.
