Handy location to the venue

It would have been good to be told about the trains. The air conditioning unit was very noisy, as was the wall clock. There were cobwebs throughout the bathroom, and it was difficult to contain the water with the shower curtain - the floor design and slope could be improved.

Comfortable, affordable with friendly staff.

The staff were so friendly and ensured we were well looked after. They were able to accommodate for my elderly mum and switch rooms so access was easier for my mother.

Overall, very good, welcoming staff, clean large family room, enjoyed our stay. Will stay again.

Motel location very good, just off the main road, quiet. Family room spacious over 2 floors, for 4 adults and 2 teenagers. Clean tidy rooms, clean linen, kitchen, bathroom facilities very good. Will book same room again. Nearby family friendly park, stream, safe, refreshing. Novelty for our family were the trains passing, minimal sound, no trains through the evening until morning.

The heat pump faulty, stopped working around 11pm, so the room was warm through the evening. The next night the heat pump was working, plus a child safe portable heater was placed in the top bedroom area by staff, and was turned on to warm the room before our return in the evening.

Sadly the train track was right next door which was noisy but they did provide ear plugs!

Comfortable motel in Tawa

We stayed in a one bedroom unit. The accommodation was very roomy and comfortable with a large lounge, with a kitchen, a large bathroom with a really good shower. The separate bedroom was also large with a comfortable bed. It was close to a Z service station so snacks could be purchased. We would definitely stay again.

The motel is very close to the railway line so was a little noisy when trains passed over the bridge Thought the staff could have mentioned the late night good trains. Otherwise no complaints.

Comfortable, convenient but noisy!

The furnishing was good and the bed was comfy. There was a park at the entrance for children and the nearby stream had eels that kids would also enjoy. About 1Km walk to Sprig & Fern restaurant which was handy. Location would also suit many as it was right next to a railway station that went to Wellington CBD (and access for business or the cableway to the Botanical Gardens). The motorway to Wellington (8 mins) was also very close. The Botanical Gardens and especially Picnic Cafe are worth a go - very nice food and good service.

When we arrived the manager was "frazzled" - it was obvious she was cleaning the rooms on her own. That's not the reason for the score There was a clue to an ongoing issue - this was the first place i've stayed (in 50 years of extensive travel) where ear plugs were provided! After the first night, the manager kept apologising for the noise from upstairs (the manager's quarters). She knew the issue. The guy in the unit next door refused to stay another night in that room - and I suspect this is a very common issue. She did her best but was not at fault - the lack of insulation in the ceiling was. We could hear every step and word spoken upstairs. Quiet at night (other than trains which we are used to) but could be noisy during the day. Had to ask for cereal bowls and we noted other crockery was missing as well. Pity, for the room wasn't bad at all. Oh, and the shower head came off when I adjusted it (pushed back on OK and worked fine after that). Without the noise issue and 8 would have been given.

Iconic hotel in Tawa that's warm, friendly and comfortable

Nice and comfy. Great staff - very helpful and friendly. Off street parking.

Nothing they can do about the trains and to use the cliche, they go past so often you don't notice
