Night away

Very warm and friendly welcome, overall very clean and good selection of drinks available at the bar. The room was clean and the bed was very soft and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and a good selection of cereals & jams etc. Plenty of parking found at the back of the pub.

It didn't say there was no food served on Sunday evening so had to find somewhere else to eat. We were in room 5 & my husband slept well but I hardly slept due to the refrigeration fan going. A better choice of sausage for a cooked breakfast would be a better choice.

I needed to stay somewhere to break up my journey down to Cornwall. I couldn’t have choose better

Lovely old pub I choose due to the great reviews. I can honestly say I agree with every one of them.

I couldn’t have stayed longer.

Breakfast was great. Room was clean and well furnished.

Noise levels coming through to our room from the pub until after 11pm weren't good. Could literally hear every word of the conversations. Bathrooms were dated and needed a spruce up.

Very good

The rooms were very clean with all essentials, including bottled water, tea and snacks. We were very pleasantly surprised and the staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was included and the staff accommodated my request for gluten free toast. I enjoyed the mushroom, scrambled egg and sausage. The owner took the time to tell us a bit about himself, learn a bit about us, and find some common ground.

The shared toilet does take very long between flushes.

All looked and felt tired, from leaky taps to sticky tables and stained bedroom carpet. Needs a decoration refresh.

Perfect location for Taunton, decor a little tired, but staff friendly and food good.

Patrick was very friendly and helpful and arranged an early breakfast for us as we needed to get off to a meeting. Room was comfortable and facilities acceptable, shared bathroom, but no issues.

Some confusion with payment for the room, food and drinks, but this could have been due to systems set up or communication between staff.

Great little overnight stay at this cosy accommodation 😊

Lovely landlord Patrick made us feel very welcome, and a nice breakfast the following morning, would recommend 😊

Comfy bed. Glad the room was a nice temperature Lovely towels and linen.Good tea and coffee facilities Room suits the age of the pub so as expected - we paid higher rate due to an event on locally but that’s what you expect so no problem Felt very safe Lovely beer garden to sit in .Patrick is a good host and very kindly returned my forgotten charger which I am very grateful for

Like most businesses updating is not currently an option as we live in lean times so don’t expect things to be improved at the moment

A comfortable quiet little pub to stay in. Landlord very friendly , lovely breakfast. Ideal location if going to Vivary park to a concert and don't want to drive far.

Some people may not want a shared bathroom. Didn't bother us for 1 night.

Patrick the landlord and the staff were all so nice and welcoming during our stay. Breakfast was great and I really recommend booking for Sunday lunch which was delicious. Location was good for getting into Taunton which is about a 40 minute walk. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Quiet, historic bed and breakfast with friendly staff.

We enjoyed the “full English breakfast”, which was exceptional.

Due to the heat wave at the time, our room was a little hot. We opened a window, but did not discover the electric fan in our wardrobe until the next morning.
