The only positive was the friendly porters and room service attendant. Milkshakes and the french fries were about the only thing we enjoyed
This grand old dame is now the ugly neglected step cousin. The entire hotel is due for 10 month upgrade in Feb 2025(This was shared by the MOD after I complained) and boy does it need it. Everything is tired, outdated, broken, dirty and old. Even the staff have a very no care attitude as they too are no longer interested in the guests or hotel. Sun International have no shame in still charging high prices for substandard accommodation and meals. As a South African I am ashamed that they would take advantage of tourists, over charging while flogging this dead hotel. Only thing going for it, is the wonderful view and location. There are many other excellent hotels in the area and may the upgrade be everything they hope to revive this old dame.

Breakfast offered an excellent variety of continental, cooked and healthy options. The hotel is adjoining the V&A Waterfront shopping center and the harbor where the charter boats depart for cruises. The mountain view suite was beautifully appointed with fabulous views of Table Mountain and the harbor. SIBA restaurant offers a 9 course tasting menu which is simply outstanding!
I could not fault anything!

Location is very good.
The room and furniture are extremely outdated. The fabric on our sofa had peeled off and you could see the yellow sponge inside. The rooms (carpet) and sheets smelled.
Overall, terrible value for money.

Hotel was in the perfect location for the V&A waterfront and all the V&A has to offer.
Unlike some previous reviews, we found the breakfast to be excellent with very little or no waiting times. There was a comprehensive selection of breakfast choices available with a dedicated omelette station. The breakfast room had views of the V&A harbour and table mountain beyond.
Staff were very welcoming, courteous, helpful and cheery.
If there was a negative, it was the problem of noise from building works ongoing near the car park side of the hotel that looks onto the ocean. It was irritating to have this digging noise so late at night and it occurred every night of our stay. Not ideal when you are trying to sleep. Room was a generous size and very clean.

Location and breakfast!!
Deposit withheld not covering our expenses, we had to pay upon check out and the deposit would be returned shortly-Absolutely unacceptable!!
No mini bar available!

Beautiful setting. Great breakfast. Fantastic location. Beautifully decorated
Waiting in line at breakfast in the mornings.
Not a big fan of the white paper and pink wool Christmas Decorations - it just didn't seem to match the decor in the rest of the hotel.
Young children unassisted at breakfast - touching food and throwing things back. Maybe children under 12 should be assisted.

Overall a fantastic experience.
Waiting at breakfast line in the mornings. The white and salmon coloured paper and wool Christmas decorations just didn't seem to match the rest of the decor in the hotel.

Breakfast was good, but you had to queue for at least 15 to 30 minutes before you could sit down then you had to queue up for your egg for another 10 to 15 minutes and asked the manager he said he’s not our problem. Everybody comes downstairs at the same time. Surely for five star hotel, Resturant should have enough seeds to cater for all the guests.
The hotel is so tired and he shouldn’t be rated five star wash hand basin taps. Keep coming off in your hands. The shower keeps going hot and cold mould on the mastic in the bathrooms.Etc

The location.
Service was not as expected. We had to wait an hour as the hotel made a mistake in our room booking, they cut me off when making a call to reception and was not responsive to me as customer.
The rooms were not cleaned until 2 pm in the afternoon and then very superficially.
I was so disappointed as it was not the 5 star experience I was looking forward to

Excellent location with beautiful views of Table Mountain. Easy access to the V&A Waterfront.
The property is old and due for an upgrade. Very clean and well maintained though.

Room very comfortable. Breakfast fabulous.
Our room card didnt work and there was no house phone on the floor (apparently only at the lift)
I had to use my cell phone to call reception, and the switchboard person told me there is no answer, which i said was ridiculous as this is a 5* hotel.
I asked for a room closer to the lifts as i am slightly disabled and had to walk very far to get to the room 209. Reception couldnt accommodate my request.

Perfect location!! Also the shopping mall is accessible from inside the hotel which is very handy! Staff were brilliant! Lovely breakfast & rooms and very comfortable

Only the location
The worst stay I had in Cape Town. This hotel could be probably a good 2 star hotel but not 5star. The Shower doesn't work. The pressure of the shower is a very poor and it can't max the hot and clod water. I have advice this to the reception but no one was helpful. They just tell me they are fully booked. This is a rubbish hotel
