About this house rental
White Oak Lodge (72 White Oak Road, Swanton) is a 6 bedroom, 3 bath lake access log home near the main portion of the Lake, accommodating up to 12 people. It features a shared dock accommodating 2 boats and deep water swimming off the end of the dock. It is located on a secluded wooded lot not directly on the lake, but a short walk down the road and down the steps will take you to the dock. The lower level features 2 bedrooms (king and queen), a recreation room with wood stove, bath, and a hot tub on the covered porch. The main level consists of a large living room, dining room, kitchen, bath, and covered porch. There are 4 bedrooms (queen, queen, 2 twins, and double) on the upper level. Outside is a picnic area with gas grill, charcoal grill and fire pit. It is near Deep Creek State Park and the Discovery Center.

The layout of the house worked out great for our multiple families. Description was accurate. Owners were very accommodating. Highly recommend.

Had a small gathering of my sons groomsmen before his wedding in November. Nice house, exactly what we wanted. Hot tub worked great. Fire pit was a hit to sit by and relax. House was clean and everything worked. Owners are awesome to communicate with and answer quickly. Definitely would recommend

Enough room for our large family. Furniture is old. Only children could sit on large couch because you sink almost to the floor. A frying pan of used oil was in the oven. Gas grill's bottom missing and only two burners worked. Two jets didn't work in hot tub. Air conditioning is window units and not every room had an air conditioner. It was very hot. Overall, needs updated.

We were very appreciative that our dogs were welcome. Everyone had a great time. Location was convenient to hiking trails and Wisp.

This was a great stay in a very clean, nice and comfortable house. The listing was correct on all points, and communication with the owner was timely and very friendly. Location is great - 10 minutes from the touristy spots but far enough to not have crowds of people walking by. I would recommend this house and the owners any time.

The house was nice but in places the web site says a king, 3 queens and 4 twins which is accurate. Elsewhere on the site it says a king 4 queens and 2 twins. In a 3 generation family like ours with multiple widowed and unmarried adults of different sexes knowing how many separate beds are available is important. It should be an easy fix. The house and property are lovely.

The house was so warm and cozy to stay in. A lot of the signage is a bit outdated and all say different things - specifically in regards to check out. We did use the email as it was the "most recent" information we had. The stairs were coated in ice and there was no salt in the home to help us remove it which made getting in and out with infants (a 7mo and 2yr) a little scary. The upstairs bathroom had some mold on the drywall above which set off a lot of our allergies. The hot tub was also VERY foamy, which made it pretty unbearable after about 10 minutes - which was unfortunate as it was definitely a feature that made us pick this home.
However, the TV was nice, the kitchen was clean and very usable, even for 2-3 adults cooking/hanging out at once. The long dining table was perfect for having meals together and playing board games. The park pass was a nice addition and we did hike around the water falls. the multiple floors made it easy to be together when we wanted and separate when we needed. The large number of sizable bedrooms also made it easy for 3 small families (6 adults 2 babies) to have a cozy and fun weekend together.

Lake Escape
A roomy property with space for all. Quiet location with quick access to the park, Oakland or Mchenry.

Very great space and had a great time. Only issue we had was the first night, we lost water and didn’t have any until Saturday. John and maintenance were extremely helpful and came right away to fix the problem. This is a super cool property and would recommend to others for sure. Thanks again John and Kathy!

We play Cornhole a bunch. There was enough space and privacy. That along with the fire pit made this a great place to stay.

We all loved the house! It was perfect for 11 of us ladies. The table in the dining room was nice for us all to sit around for breakfast and playing games in the evening. Location of the house was close to restaurants and shopping ! We even had 4 deer come into the back yard which was sweet to see ! Would definitely rent this house again !

Family Christmas ‘21
We spent Christmas weekend with our family of 8 (4 parents, 4 young adult children) and had a wonderful time. The house had all we needed in a cozy layout that allow for together time as well as separate spaces to escape to. We took full advantage of all the amenities… hot tub, fire pit, grill, WII video games, board games and neighborhood walks while at the house. And we ventured out to ski at Wisp, ride ATVs, hike Swallow Falls and eat dinner out at Mountain Brewery. Christmas ‘21 was a success and created some great memories. If you enjoy the great outdoors and hiking this cabin has you covered. We have stayed 2 years in a row now and it’s everything we need from beds to big kitchen to hot tub after a long day of exploring trails. I can see year 3 of using white oak as our base camp in the future.

This house was amazing! John an Kathy have a beautiful home! They were so gracious for allowing us to bring our service dogs with us! The home had plenty of space! Everyone had their own rooms, although the beds were extremely hard :( that is the only thing I would change! We made lots of memories shared lots of laughs! We made tons of good food! Spent the nights on the large covered deck an chilly nights in the hot tub! We will for sure be back! Spent days hiking at swallow falls which they provided a state park pass!

This house was amazing! John an Kathy have a beautiful home! They were so gracious for allowing us to bring our service dogs with us! The home had plenty of space! Great spot for multi families
We were in town for a long weekend and were able to spread out with 5 adults, 3 Kids and 2 dogs. The house has all the amenities you need (including more microwaves than ive ever seen in one house). We enjoyed the firepit, hot tub, all the activities at Wisp and even jumped in the lake on a cool October night…great place…would stay there again.

4 of us friends wanted a quick getaway for the weekend, it was perfect for a short trip. We rented a pontoon boat where we were able to bring our dogs on board. They were both quick to respond to our questions. The only thing we had a small issue with was finding the dock since the sign on the tree was small. Other than that It was very enjoyable, we thought we would have an issue with the WIFI, but we had no problems with that either! Thank you
