Entering the Lookout, you step onto new slate flooring and then onto the new luxury vinyl planking in the main living area. The main room has an overstuffed leather sofa, rocking chair, a 50" HDTV, and a DVD player. A king-sized bed, dresser, and closet are at the end of the spacious main room. A ladder takes you up to the loft to a queen bed and a bird's-eye view of the room below. Outside, a short walk down the paved sidewalk takes you to your own private dock and swimming platform.
The Lookout has a completely furnished kitchen with a full-sized dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, drawers, cabinets, pantry, and a table for four. It also has a full bathroom with a toilet, sink, and tub/shower. Its deck sports a new gas grill, a prep table, a new dining table, and four new chairs.
The Lookout has a sleeping capacity of four and is a perfect rental partner with the Lakeside Lodge, the big lodge on the same property, VRBO Property No. 1692559. Together with the Lodge's sleeping capacity of twenty, the Lookout can extend the sleeping capacity of your group to 24 people.

The Lodge is part of Deerfield Resort, an exclusive, secluded area nestled between the Cumberland Mountains and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The views are so beautiful from the outside of the Lakeside Lookout. Upon opening the door it was obvious that Steven and Kathy really care about so many details. Everything was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We spent a lot of time on the dock and swimming in the beautiful water. It was a little tricky getting from the bottom of the steps to the dock, but we got better at it each time.
We would definitely stay again and have already recommended it to friends.

Great place for 2 people. Having a boat was great, but parking the trailer was a little tricky. I recommend working this out with the marina beforehand. If the walk down to the dock is troublesome, you can also keep the boat at a dock at the marina for a fee. Great option if needed. Washer and Dryer would have been awesome, but easy to deal with enough swim suits!

The Lakeside Lookout is a very quaint, cozy home in the woods. If you want to get away (with minimal cell service :-) ) and get unplugged, this is it! Gorgeous views of the lake. Great hiking all around or just walk the property. Kathy was very helpful and sweet in answering any questions you may have. A very cute, clean and well furnished home. Don't forget anything you want to take! It's out there!:-) But, civilization is only 30 minutes away. If you're a hiker, try "Little Egypt" to the highest point in Campbell County! I think the locals keep that one a little secret! Will return one day!

Just what we needed! Seclusion quiet nestled in the woods on the lake! What more could you need? We enjoyed the beautiful clear water and relaxed in the guest house and star gazed! Thanks for the great stay! Yes the walk to the water is steep I make the treck a few times, but well worth the seclusion on the dock!

Wonderful stay!
Property was great! View was amazing! Owners were very responsive. The only downside was the hill down to the lake. It is very steep coining back up. It was a little difficult for those of us not in the best shape 😀

Cute little cabin. We were part of a larger group staying in the main house. Spent most of our time at the lodge. Very comfortable and clean rooms.

We are definitely coming back for another visit. The lake is perfect but the water was super low, which is out of anyones control. Everything we needed was available. There was a minor hiccup in a representation of the property but when addressed, via email, there was a quick response, resolve and offer of inconvenience reimbursement. There is also a slight upgrade, as the photos show the Lookout is carpeted, but now has nice flooring, which I absolutely loved !! I would just recommend getting everything you need before you get to the cabin. The closest supermarket is around 30 minutes away. There is a very convenient Deli just outside the community entrance that offers the little things you may need. We are so happy with the stay, I am ready for our summer trip and taking the kayaks out !

The few days my wife and I spent at the lookout we're perfect. It's a comfortable space with all the essentials (plenty of cooking equipment and amenities) and a great view down over the Lake Norris river extensions. Communication with the property owner was excellent and reassuring. Would love to visit again!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The place was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed including a dock. We were able to rent a boat and have it delivered right to the property. The owners called the check on us and make sure we had everything we needed.
A few things to be aware of:
- no bathrooms towels or washcloths are included - you have to bring your own and there’s no way to wash them so if you’re staying long, this could be an issue
- the walk to the lake/dock is VERY steep. We are in our early 40’s and physically fit. We were able to do it but were completely out of breath when we got to the top and taking a large cooler was a challenge
- the dock is not attached to the steps - there’s a significant gap of lake in between. We had to pull the dock closer with the ropes and then leap onto it. Some people may not be able to do this.
Having said all that, we would definitely stay again and think it’s a great place. But, people age 60+ or overweight may struggle if using the dock or walking to the lake.

Great cozy place for a small family, needs a few minor updates with maintenance and could benefit from adding a washer/dryer for guests. Overall I was very pleased with our stay and very likely to visit again!

Relaxing mountain-lake recharge
Beautiful home with views of the lake and mountains. If you need to decompress, this place will do the trick. FYI a rental boat delivered to the private dock was the icing on the cake.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay! Beautiful, comfortable house, kitchen well-equipt and everything was very clean. View from patio is gorgeous. The owners are very friendly and quick to respond to any question. We spent 3 nights and learned a lot about the area. Downtown Knoxville was a lot of fun, even with it being graduation weekend! Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Keep in mind it is a bit of a curvy drive to property, but the drive is gorgeous and we were constantly seeing groups of deer. We look forward to returning to the area.

Great Spring Retreat!
Me and my wife had a wonderful early spring trip. The lookout was very clean and had all of the essentials. We didn't get to enjoy the lookout as much as we would've liked due to traveling a lot. But overall it was a great place to stay and the property owners called and checked in with us and made sure we had everything we needed. Great place to getaway!

Spring break in TN!
The Rays are delightful, knowledgeable, and responsive property owners. They are so friendly and helpful to out-of-towners! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lakeside Lookout! We highly recommend it to you! Most of the restaurants and activities open April 01, so bear that in mind when you book!

Terrific Remote Location on the Lake
This is a super place if you are looking for a remote getaway on the water. The cottage is lovely with a great view and recent upgrades. The landlords were friendly. We had a quiet and peaceful few days!

Stay here!
First and foremost the pictures, although gorgeous, does not do the property justice. The views are absolutely breath taking. My wife and I took our kids (12 and 9 years old) to this property as a getaway that hopefully involved snow. We had two days of snow when we first arrived and the kids were in awe. The snow really does enhance the beauty.
The cabin itself is very nice, perfect for a family of four or smaller. The beds were very comfortable, the balcony is amazing, the shower was nice an hot. Everything about this property is comfort.
Steven was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I've rented other properties before and have been lucky with property owners but Steven is an absolute gem and stands out above them all. On more than one occasion he went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a pleasant one and I can't say enough about him.
A couple of suggestions if you plan on staying here. If you are looking for a place where you can get away from the world and put the phone down, then look no further. There is a nice tv there with some decent local channels but I suggest bring a couple of DVDs and having a movie night. Bring a book. This is the perfect place to get in some reading and just relax. There are a couple of board games at the cabin but bring some more. Also, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the guard shack from the cabin so you may want to pick up some groceries before going to the cabin. Do yourself a favor and take a short 40 minute drive to the local Dam. It is amazing!
If you need a super comfortable place to relax and get away, do yourself a favor and book this place. I'm already looking forward to staying here next year!

AMAZING Get Away!!
This is an amazing weekend get away spot, we will be back. We stayed earlier this month (10.05.2020). Steve and Kathy were amazing to work with and the property was as described, very clean. If you are looking for a weekend to check out this is the place. It is SO peaceful and beautiful. We saw a lot of deer and Bald Eagles. It comes with everything you need except towels, make sure you bring your own. The walk to the water is a little steep but not bad and you get your own private swim dock. There are two beds but little privacy as the loft over looks the master bed room below but it worked perfectly for us.
It is very remote with little wi-fi signal and no phone signal (I have AT&T). The WAZE APP got us there the whole way but make sure to print the directions as it is very remote and not all map APPs will work. Also, don't make the mistake we did, stock up on everything before going, it is only 12 miles to town but those 12 miles takes about 30-45 mins to drive due to the curvy narrow roads.

Beautiful location. Relaxing, stress free vacation. Limited cell service was a complete positive to the trip......our jobs could not reach us! Water was peaceful and the trees were so colorful this time of the year.

Lakeside Lookout is a great place for a couple, the view is fantastic and the studio is very comfortable. We stayed for a long weekend, I worked from the deck two mornings and my husband worked from The kitchen table one morning. There are some previous comments about poor internet, so Steve looked into alternate places for us to work, but it was not necessary. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful Retreat
Lakeside Lookout is perfect for a couple's getaway. Cottage is nicely furnished and has all the amenities. King-sized bed was very comfortable. Views from cottage deck were peaceful. The walk down to the lake is more complicated than provided in the description. Though paved, the path to the dock requires sure-footing and leg strength. Also there are no handrails at the steps which could be a concern for some.

Romantic Getaway
Romantic getaway! Great view of the lake. When you sit out on the overlook you feel secluded. The place was neat and clean. Highly recommend getting up early at least one morning to watch the lake come alive as the sun creeps over it. There are a few close Marina's if you decide to rent a boat. The jumping bridge is not far. If you drink something other than beer or wine I highly recommend stocking up enough. The owner was very responsive to every question and provided thorough information. Highly recommend this place!

Quaint but nice
It’s one room so not the biggest but nice. The WiFi was horrible but it kept the kids off their phone which was a plus. All in all it was clean and the AC worked good! We spend most of our time on the lake so not bad for my little group.
