This is a very special place in Alfama. Those, who know something about its history and history of Lisbon, will know, what they may sign for. What to expect and what not to count for. THis is the old part of the town, old buildings, old everything.
This implies many other consequences like narrow passages, weird settings of the rooms and corridors, interesting views etc.
SO, if you accept all this and are ready for an adventure in the old Alfama - this place is for you definitely.
It is not quiet in the evening late until 11 PM or so. But it is not disco-noisy or traffic-noisy but rather the chatter-noisy in all languages. There are 3 restaurants just below and opposite the building. WE were there in mid- September, but the tourists were quite everywhere and numbered.
To here some fado songs, it is enough to open the window at the tiny balcony and sit on the sofa or the chair in the apartment, one of the most famous fado restaurants is just opposite the narrow street - door to door.
The hosts were very friendly and awaited us in place; they speak very good english and can be helpful giving the advices about the first itinerairies.
The equipment in the appartment is rich enough; very good idea -> the coffee machine with capsules - saved some early mornings. Aircon is there but we did not have to use it actually. Everything nice, clean and tidy.
In general - the best bag to use and travel with to Lisbon is a backpack or any other bag which you do not need to drag behind you on wheels. The streets are steep and bumpy, mostly covered in ancient rocks/bricks, often you need to use the stairs; we saw many people fighting with their big trolley bags when looking for their place to stay.
The pictures attached are made from the balcony or just outside the building.
Again, if you accept all the specifics of this very location, so some noises or smells from the restaurant (we were located not just above it but on the 2nd floor, kind of), these should not bother you much.
Same - if you really dislike fado music/songs, do not go there.
If you do not like to be lost sometimes in the foreign city - do not go to Lisbon.
If you are not fit enough to climb at least 4-5 storey building (by stairs of course, not the wall ;) hopefully ) - do not go to Alfama.
Otherwise - you will be delighted.

Central location in Alfama.
As in description, prepare for steep steps to reach apartment.

The location is good, just in the heart of Alfama. Paulo is amazing and nice person, he pays attention to the details, he has even left the umbrellas in the apartment knowing that it was a rainy season in Lisbon. Apartment is very clean and comfortable. There's air conditioning which helps during winter period.

Basically nothing , The place was so filthy and dusty .
The dust, the filthiness, and his lack of responsibility to offer a solution for the matter.

All nice and central
We stay for 5 nights but the possibility to change the towels are only if we stay over 7 nights.

Very clean and comfortable, photos don’t do justice. In a good area
Quite noisy as it is opposite a Fado bar / off a square but with windows closed was surprisingly well contained

The Apartment was as described. Not surprisingly, I got lost on the way from the Fado Museum to the apartment but after about 10 minutes, I found the location. My phone was not working well that day so I couldn't call Paulo but we had agreed to meet at the apartment which he did about 15 minutes early. I appreciated his early arrival as it was a long travel day for me.
The pictures of the apartment was exactly as the apartment actually, very clean, comfortable, with a well stocked kitchen with everything one would want if they wanted to cook. For me, I ate only my breakfast there and a snack at night. I wanted to stay in Alfama to better experience my three days in Lisbon and this apartment met their criteria.
Finally, I felt very safe there as the alley way door to the apartment is very secured and right across the alley from a FADO restaurent and well lit. Also, the door to the apartment is a SOLID door with an electronic lock, I believe, All in all, a double level of security.
Two things that need to be emphasis for some travelers. Yes, the stairs are a little steep and long, 23 steps I believe to the second floor (3rd in the U.S.). But for me, at age 66, I had no problem with them.
The other thing which didn't bother me in the least...and that i actually enjoyed was the FADO restaurant right across the alley on the ground floor. Music starts at 8 pm.....for about 25 minutes, then they take a break until about 11 pm when it winds down. The alley side window and one French door is double insulated so when they are closed, it knocks out most of the noice to a quiet chatter for the nights I went to sleep before 11 pm. The bedroom had only one small window so once you close the door, it is really quiet.
The only thing that could be better...and really does need to be improved is to get rid of the existing sheets. They felt "old" as the cotton had been rolled into little cotton balls which felt like dirt. I had 12 hours days visiting Lisbon so when I returned in the evening, I was tired and slept well.....but still, travelers expect a certain level of "newness" of sheets. Once the old sheets are discarded and replaced with new one, the apartment will easily rate a 10 all of the way around with me.

I have booked this apartment before. Whenever I travel to Lisbon, my first choice is always S. Miguel Alfama although unfortunately the apartment is not always available. The apartment is nicely decorated, spotlessly clean, has everything you need, is close to all the interesting places in Lisbon and I love the neighbourhood. Paolo, the host, is a very nice person! Hope to be back soon.

The apartment is small, but it has everything you may need: bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, living room. The location is awesome. Small antique window in the bedroom and a balcony accessible from the living room give this place authentic charm. The host is great, I forgot my t-shirt there, he kept it and gave it back to me on my next visit to Lisbon. Overall rating 10/10.

The host was excellent and kept in contact with us from the moment we booked until the moment we checked in. He sent us lots of useful information about how to find the property etc. The host also helped us find a place to store our luggage on the last day - it turns out there was one 5 minute from our apartment with extremely good prices! The location was great for just a few days break, the cost was brilliant and it was a nice apartment.
The shower did overflow quite a bit in the bathroom which was annoying but not enough to ruin the holiday! Also the bed wasn't very comfy which was a bit frustrating. Otherwise, everything was great!
