The great communication from the hosts ensured easy checking in. The peace and quiet in the rural setting was just what we were looking for. The grounds housed a few cabins but we got to enjoy the place all to ourselves. It was close to Katikati township and also the Sapphire Thermal Springs which are great for a hot soak and short bush walks.
I wish I had booked directly through the website and not used 3rd party booking site. The website offers more in-depth information about each cabin and amenities as well as clearly stipulating there is no electricity in the cabin we booked.

It was very peaceful
Too cold on winter , to use the toilet u get wet feet

The property was very pretty
The owner was very odd and was clearly not in the mood for guests. She had signs and instructions everywhere. We felt like we couldn’t relax and were on edge

Loved the facilities. The bathroom was very cool and made for a unique experience when showering with a window!
Room ended up getting very hot at night so had to open doors.
4.1
Not much, only solar power outside shower, compost toilet
More like camping, no power, it was supposed to be 25 minutes away from Matamata but it was more like an hour, said to the host about this and she said as the birds fly, meaning over the mountains. Not impressed
4.1
Quiet and peaceful
Some crockery was a bit dirty but a quick wash was sufficient.

Beautiful location in the midst of nature. Very quiet and (thanks to the remote location) one gets to see the stars in all their glory on a cloudless night. The hosts are decent, the facilities were by and large clean. This being an eco-resort, is trying its best to support the environment. If you are looking to spend a few days away from TVs and movies and read a book instead - this place is just perfect for it. There are a few horses, cats and a dog in the property - also a few chickens :)
The room we were in (Morepork Cabin) had a couple of electric outlets which allowed us to charge our phones. (I'm not sure if the other rooms had this privilege. I did notice others using the shared kitchen to charge their phones)
We booked 'The Superior Chalet - the ark' for a couple of nights using booking.com. The cabin had an attached bathroom unit. I received an email a day later letting me know that the room isn't available for one of the days and was offered to book the room for one day or move me to another cabin for both the nights. I chose the latter option and the hosts moved us to the 'Morepork cabin'. When we arrived there, we realised that the room didn't have an attached/ensuite bathroom and one had to go through a shared kitchen into a bathroom (which to be fair, was dedicated to us). The shared kitchen/bathroom is a few meters away from the cabin. So if it rains, you have to walk in the rain and get to the kitchen/bathroom. Also, there are privacy aspects around using a shared space to reach to the bathroom. This may be perfectly reasonable/acceptable to someone else, but to us, with our expectation of an ensuite bathroom and the privacy it assures, this was not to our expectation.
In hindsight, it would have helped to clearly inform us at the time of changing rooms that the new cabins didn't have an attached bathroom.
Apart from this, everything else was perfect!

Absolutely I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody at all . The cabins are damn hot to stay inside once windows are closed . You wouldn’t be able to stay inside with windows open either coz of flies and mosquitoes
4.1
Good location and nice bathroom facilities
Not always hot water in the shower

Keys were already in our cabin where the owner pointed us to, when we see the cabin we were absolutely in love with it, inside of the room, the bed was massive and so comfortable, the sight was beautiful cause it was full of trees and beautiful noises of birds everywhere, felt like home to us. We love places in the middle of nowhere but this place could never beat any of the other places we have stayed at. It was close to where we were going to go to watch our friends perform in a fight. So we were super happy we got to stay at this beautiful place.

The location is absolutely beautiful! Waking up to birdsong and sunlit emerald rolling hills was spectacular, and the treehouse was so cute and unique. We didn't end up using the kitchen, but it looked like there was one available. As the pictures show, the room is small but it's not like we were planning on throwing a party so the intimate, isolated setting was perfect and I'm pretty sure we had the whole grounds to ourselves in early November. The bathroom/shower were in a separate building which was very clean and well stocked, just make sure you take care of any business before going to bed because going down the spiral staircase in the dark is a mild challenge lol.
There aren't any power outlets in the tree house (or if there are we simply couldn't find them) which wasn't that big of a deal for us since we just charged our phones in the car, but something to be aware of if you're planning on bringing electronics. The dirt road to get there has a bit of a steep hill and is only narrow enough for one car, which was never an issue for us since I think we were the only ones there, I'm just not sure how you would handle 2 cars coming at the same time. But again, a very situational problem that we didn't have to worry about.

private and quite. good enough facilities for short trip away from urban
wish there were charging ports in bedrooms. And only if there was TV to connect phone/tablet to watch somethings. but minors.

the views are gorgeous. i loved waking up to the sound of roosters, horses and birds. very tranquil and the
hosts were very friendly even though we only spoke with them for a short time.
little bit cold but it is winter

great place to go to get a break from the rest of the world. unfortunately, during our stay it was raining, however the next morning we did get to enjoy the view. we did play a few games of checkers and guess who, followed by a round of "the game if. that was different and fun.
shower wasn't really "hot" more like lukewarm water. not sure why. toilet was fine in the "out house". they even provide a torch for late night requirements. when we got there, we couldn't see the place from where we were supposed to park, perhaps more signage would help. also signage for the kitchen area as well.

Amazing nature
don’t have a heater in the room and the fireplace outside wasn’t functioning properly due to rain(it could have fixed though)

Breath Taking!! A great place to unwind. The views are pretty. The cabin was very clean and had a homey vibe!! This place is amazing. Definitely one of our favorite cabins by far. You guys really thought of everything!! and we hated to leave!

nice location and nice and warm rooms
we went there around 3-4pm and the property looks good. But then we went out in the town, came back late at night and the whole property was dark. There was not a single light on the way to our rooms. We had torch with us so we used that. The room lights were so dim. we have to use the torch in the room at night.

The beautiful location. The ark was wonderful.
The lights in the toilet works for only 10 minutes. Had to use my phone for torch light.

Not much
It was advertised as a chalet having private bathroom, kitchen with all that goes with it.
We had a very small with only a double bed a chest of drawers and 2 small tables. There was hardly any room to move around. The bathroom
and kitchen were in a separate building and not private. We were not happy.
The room and towels smelled strongly of washing powder. It was a bit overpowering.
