Nice little beach house for a couple or small family wanting easy access to the beach. The covered deck is amazing with a great view! Accommodations are older and very basic, for example there is no dishwasher, but we enjoyed our time there. One caveat, the bathtub and bathroom floor are extremely slippery when wet!

Great little place. It only has window units for AC which was our only tiny conplaint. Once we got the house cooled off it was great. We also used a cover to keep the luggt out in the morning so we could sleep a little longer. It was away from the hustle and bustle of Galveston, but close enough to drive in for lunch and dinner.

House is cute. The location is great. The host was super easy to reach and communication was great.
There was an odor that would come and go, I am not sure if it was the house itself, or if it was from the plumbers that were working on something 2 doors down, but the host had maintenance out first thing the next morning to check it out (keep in mind, i was texting the host at 11pm, so the next morning was 100% above and beyond). I am sure the host would fix anything they could if there is a problem.
There was a pretty severe storm with high winds and this little house is super sturdy considering it is on stilts and right on the ocean.
To the host, i would say thankyou for a lovely stay.

Cute beach house. Not fancy but great price and location. Perfect for a quick getaway or a long leisurely vacation. Perfect view of the beach and gulf. 10/10 would recommend

We had a great time we always come here (7 years). Close to the water and to the grocery store. Great for anglers too!

When I arrived at the property, I tried to access the property via the touch keypad on the entry door and it did not work. I also tried the lockbox downstairs and it did not work / open either. I called the guest contact regarding the issue. I was told that I should try to pry open the lockbox. I responded that I could not do that. Then the local contact said that somebody would come by to fix the issue. I clearly explained that I could not wait with my family and kids stuck there and did not feel safe doing so. I asked him to cancel the reservation and provide me refund but he kept saying that sending somebody over was the best he could do. I never saw the local contact or anybody on the property during my stay. I had my family and kids with me and left the property for safety issue without being able to access. It was getting dark outside and it did not feel safe to stay there at all. Also we were stuck without any access to amenities like restrooms etc.
This has been a horrible experience for me and my family. We have never experienced such unprofessional arrangement and behavior for VRBO properties. The property should have been readily accessible. This incident caused huge inconvenience causing a lot of mental stress during the entire experience.
I would strongly discourage going with this property and expect that I get my full refund immediately.

What a beautiful spot and what a horrible house! So horrible that we could not stay our entire time and had to leave early. The biggest issue is the black mold that is visible and the musty smell hits you when you walk in. When we got home all of our clothes had to be washed, even the ones we didn’t wear, because they smelled musty. There is visible mold on the curtain and windows. I am sure behind the paneling it is riddled with mold.
Other issues: it’s just run down and the online pictures must be really old because it’s not that nice. The patio furniture is different and not nice like the pictures. The place is leaning and one bedroom door doesn’t stay shut, and it doesn’t have a doorknob. The top of the refrigerator is up against the wall but the bottom has a 5 inch gap. The bathroom doors are ridiculous. Dirty and grimy yes, but no knobs and just 99 cent hooks to keep shut. Instead of properly fixing the central AC the owners went on the cheap and put window AC units. They are noisy and near the beds and couch and thus impossible to open windows to air the place out. There is so much condensation between the
living room window panels of glass it literally beads all day and it is difficult to see out that window. You know that adds to all the mold. Other lame issues, living room tv didn’t work kitchen utensils were dirty. Dried food crusty kind of dirty. So much for the cleaning fee. Lamps busted, paint all messed up and dirty. Don’t stay here!

Clean and very cute place. it’s older but had a homey feel and was very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Relaxed and enjoyed listening to the waves. I have no complaints at all. Owners responded to our question about the internet very quickly. All was good and I’d stay there again.

It’s a very nice place. There are a lot of good stores nearby. We had a good time while we were there. The beach is great and the views from the deck were amazing.

Great location for a small group. Perfect place for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. Appliances look new and house was neat and clean. Shaded deck with terrific view of the Gulf.

The home was the perfect size for me and my daughter. We sat on the front porch in the mornings and evenings and watched the waves roll in and out. Close to the city of Galveston to meet up with friends for lunch and stroll The Strand.

We walked into the property and it was 90 degrees in the house. None of the air conditioners were on. We were able to turn on one of the window units but someone came to turn on the other one. The house had a very strong urine smell and we were told by the owners representative who came to turn on the air conditioner that it was because the house was close to the ocean. The representative also was spraying disinfectant after he turned on the air. He could smell the foul odor. I lived in a coastal town my first 17 years and ocean does not make a house smell like a litter box. Also the pictures did not match the listing and the front door looked like it had seen better days. There were loose boards on the deck. I like renting a beach house so my 80 year old mother can watch the ocean from the deck. The stairs and deck were not safe for her to walk on. We asked the owner and Evolve for a refund and they refused. We booked another property and did not stay one night in the Bristow house. We suspect the house may have black mold because all of our allergies were blooming after just the little time we were there. I was extremely happy with the house we stayed in last year and thought listings on VRBO could be trusted. You might want to take this one down off your site. Now I am out over $4000 for my weeks vacation on accommodations since we had to book somewhere else. I am very unhappy!

Great location right off the beach with great extras like towels cooking ware and other little things just felt like the house could have looked a little nicer on outside and a little nicer lighting like rope lights and the house had a sewer smell at front door and ran on window units so house was pretty warm most of the time but had a great time sitting on the patio and enjoying the ocean breeze

We absolutely loved the location of this cottage. Breathtaking views, short walk to the beach and away from all the traffic. The cottage itself was the perfect size for our family. We spent most of our time outside, so mostly used it for sleeping. The only issue we ran into was the A/C window units didn’t cool very well and were extremely noisy. If you like a bath sheet size towel, bring your own, as the ones provided are small. The kitchen had all we needed for preparing our meals. The kitchen, bathroom and beds were clean, but the place could use a deep clean of the windows, floorboards, trim and fresh paint. We would definitely stay again, as the location was perfect,

We enjoyed our four day stay with the amazing ocean views including easy quick access just steps away from the beach. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch taking in the scenic views. The sound of the waves crashing on to the beach was heaven.

Pictures on listing were outdated. Initial impression was disappointing. After entering the property the interior was better than the exterior. A/C was ok at night, not so much during the heat of the day. Deck roofing very rusty & has big holes in it (but it didn’t rain while we were there) Some of the features advertised were not present: outdoor grille, foot washing shower, etc. Arrived on Friday & trash bin was already full & wasn’t emptied until Monday after we checked out. The house was sufficient for our needs, but had a few issues. Next time I will pay a little more & maybe get something a little nicer.

We had a great time here! Great location next to the beach!
Cons: It's a little run down and outdated, tiny shower, terrible walkway, we were awoken by a neighbors air pump ( thin walls ),
couldn't access the washer and dryer and the house was 90 degrees when we arrived.. June in the Texas heat.. Took almost 18 hours to cool off and the fridge smelled.
Pros : Seems like a safe neighborhood, great location, cute, good for two ppl even though it could technically accommodate more.

This property had wonderful views of the ocean. Wonderful neighborhood. Would 100% stay here again.

The view is a 10. Grass was tall and needed cutting. Old ac unit was on the picnic table down stairs so you could not use. Very muddy at the stairs could use some stepping stones. Some wiring hanging down from rafters down stairs. Could use some tlc on the property. Otherwise we had a good time.

Perfect location. Loved walking out to the beach and sitting on the back porch. Views are gorgeous.

This place met my needs perfectly. I’ll be back.

I grew up on the Gulf Coast. I’m aware of humidity and mold. But the mold IN this house was atrocious. The washing machine not only did not work, but was full of mold and undissolved detergent pods. There was no city garbage bin. I had to take clothes to a laundromat which took up my vacation time.
There is black mold all over the inside of this house. The ac units don’t work. We found that out when trying to air out the musty, moldy house. The porch roof leaked so badly that water was coming in the front door. You could not sit in the porch when it rained. The windows have failed and are super cloudy.
This house should be condemned. We should get more than $64 back, which the “host” gave us when I informed him of the problems.

It's our 3rd year at this property and always enjoy our stay! There are some updates required that would make the property more appealing. But this place it truly all about location! The views, the sound of the ocean, the beach is right at your doorstep! It's a very peaceful area to just sit back and relax!

Stayed for 3 days, location was amazing right on the beach! Celebrated my birthday with my sister, watched the sunrise from the deck, the covered deck is the best place, spent all time outside on deck and swimming at the beach. Outdoor shower us wonderful.
My only negative, is get blackout curtains, street light right outside window. The management was wonderful and very quick to respond via text to any questions - thank you! Great kitchen appliances & loved eating at the table on the deck. It even rained one morning and it was lovely sitting under the covered deck.
Thank you for an amazing unforgettable time, I can't wait to come back and celebrate next year.

Upon arrival, house was hotter than Hell, literally 108 degrees. (Reserved rental on vrbo, but was an EVOLVE management company). No air conditioning unit, broken and not working. There were two very old window air conditioning units that were so noisy we had to yell to be heard over the noise.
We contacted the host as soon as possible and they never called us back, yet the "host person listed" only text us and never made an effort to help us. The list of things that were problematic was LONG;
1) house was hot upon arrival and not prepared for guests.
2) dirty dishes in the sink
3) No proper towels, they were torn, thread worn, and super tiny. We requested towels, we were texted that they would arrive that night . . . no one came and brought anything all weekend.
4) the toilet is super small, literally the size of a small elementary school child's toilet, low to the ground.
5) the master bed wasn't even a bed, but rather a cheap flimsy mattress that I could pick up with one hand. We sat on it and you could feel the cheap coils inside the fake full-size mattress that sat inside the wobbly frame of a queen bed. So uncomfortable we never used it--hubby and I had to sleep in the second room in the twin beds; better, more comfortable.
6) The central air was not working, the two of three air conditioning units took almost 24 hours to cool down the house and it was LOUD, we had to go buy ear plugs to sleep because the noise was LOUD and the unit rattled in the window.
7) It rained the majority of Labor Day weekend, which was nice on the porch, but the air conditioning units leaked and water came in.
8) requested towels, but none ever came.
9) called three times and messaged the "host" no response via phone and only sarcastic rude messages were sent to us.
10) hot water unit didn't last long.
11) Water didn't drain under the house, flooding, and tons of mosquitos.
12) Husband cut his leg on the cheap metal chairs on the porch, one small slice of 3 inches long and another 5 inches long--horrible!
13) Advertising states that this house has a fenced-in yard, not true, all open. Pictures only show a portion fenced.
The pricing that we paid for the long holiday weekend we could have stayed in another place, but were very disappointed in the lies advertised, lack of assistance from host, rude comments, and run down. This place has items that are cheap, wobbly, and old. Love spending time with my hubby, but will NOT ever rent with them again.

Nice beach front home. Clean. Covered deck, swing and yard are great. Beach chairs and tubes/boogie board are a plus.
We will definitely consider staying here again when we visit Galveston next time.

Location was great. The house is a dump. It’s a shame that the owner has such an ideal location and prime property but doesn’t reinvest into the upkeep of the property.

Great place
Great location. Not a lot of crowd.
House was very clean, it did have a very strong dog urine odor. I would recommend getting rid of rug in living room. Had to keep doors open during day. We stayed on porch most of time anyway.
Whats point of being on the beach if your going to stay indoors. Great covered porch.
Maybe add black out curtains to master bedroom. Neighbors outside lights stayed on all night.
We really enjoyed this place!.

Old reliable, clean clean clean
Definitely an older property but CLEAN. I must stress CLEAN. What a nice feeling. Yes you could tell animals are allowed here and yes the centralized air is an older system but it’s a beautiful location and convenient to get to the beach with a great yard and a fantastic deck. Loved watching the sunrise and sunset and dining al fresco. This is a compact home but the entire purpose is for beach and outdoor time and it meets all those expectations. If you want fancier digs and newer construction, here’s not for you but it was comfortable and the window units worked great and the deck was fabulous. Enjoy!

Beautiful ocean view
Nice peaceful and beautiful ocean view.
Enjoyed the covered deck facing the ocean when not on the beach.

House was not clean before we arrive. Trash still in bins and pet hair on sofa. Outside metal chairs are rusted and someone could get injured with the metal coming apart.

Great place right on the beach! Dunes between place and beach were beautiful. Not big, but all you need. Double in one room and two twins in other perfect for me and my two sons.

Location is outstanding!
Our girls trip was so enjoyable! The beach house was right on the beach and we enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch every morning and evening listening to and watching the waves roll in. So peaceful! The cabin was just what we wanted, with comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, plenty of towels and linens, and many other amenities. We will definitely be back!

Simple property. Perfect location. Bare essentials.

The stay was great for the most part. Location, cleanliness, outdoor yard, all awesome. The kids room door did not close so for my 3yr olds I had to jam it closed with two chairs, which was inconvenient. Also the lights over the kids beds were not safe. My husband got a really bad shock while trying to turn them on. So we just unplugged them so the kids wouldn’t get shocked.

Great location! Small home perfect for a quick trip to the beach!
