Beach is good, but expecting more private for the money spent.
Breakfast : it was good. But felt very few choices.
Dinner: Water is basic and buying the basics like water during Dinner didn't make any sense.Choices are enough.

The Property itself is lovely, the beach is great and the idea of a beach restaurant is great.
The kiddie play ground is a nice touch as well as the bar within the main Hotel, its cosy and yet spacious.
We were not told the spa is being renovated so, the name Diani Reef Resort and Spa did not apply. The pool that the bar overlooks was not operational....so value for money....NO!
Our 1st room was overlooking the Spa renovations, that was not good at all and as such I requested different rooms immediately
The new rooms were dungeon quality on the basement level, our view was a store.
The rooms smelt damp and dusty (rooms 1005 i believe and 1010). I again requested for different rooms the same night and were moved to other rooms on the Thursday morning. This was far much better that what we had experienced.
Food, mediocre, bacon was rationed, it was really sad. The staff are friendly and try their best, they don't have much to work with.

The entertainment group was amazing as well as the activities held. Food was also delicious. The beach was clean and really close to the resort. The staff were also friendly.
The cleanliness was poor. There was a cockroach in my room as well as blood on my bedding despite room cleaning taking place. The facilities in the bathroom were old and kept on falling off such as the shower handle.

I really enjoyed beach time - the hotel security 'maasais' patrol the hotel beach line, so vendors and beach boys won't disturb you. As a plus they shoo away cheeky monkeys trying to steal your snacks 😃
The children loved the swimming pools and the playground.
I also really enjoyed the daily 11.00 am activities by Dan and his troupe. We relieved our childhood playing water polo. The aerobics was super fun! The stretches worked!
The food was well done and even the picky little eaters thought it was yummy! Especially our orders from the beach restaurant. The grilled prawns with coconut rice was our staple 😋
Solomon the bartender was exceptional at his work and we felt very comfortable and well taken care of - our drinks and cocktails came just like we liked them! He is very keen to detail.
The room service staff was very polite and clean. We had rooms 3032 and 3033 & we really want to appreciate the gentleman who cleaned and tidied our rooms. We didn't find him as we checked out 😔
I didn't get to try out the spa, maybe next time.
We took some beautiful photos by the palm trees and huge coral rock in the middle of the pool.
One word - scenic!
Some staff kept badgering us about bills which were never forthcoming for our entire 5-day stay. Particularly from the dinners which didn't form part of our BnB.
Next time try and generate the bills in real time so that we sign instantly as we go instead of waiting to follow us without the bills in hand - it was 'the bills are over 'there'; you didn't sign them' 🙄
We are here to relax and not do mental work.

I have stayed in this hotel many times over the decades but not for some time and so it’s sad to see it’s deep decline. It’s a sharp reminder that when neglect sets in then it’s an up hill struggle to ensure high quality maintenance. I have numerous complaints that I wish to list but will do a more detailed review on other platforms. My main concern was the lack of understanding or acknowledgment of Health and safety arrangements. The glass doors leading to the balcony, heavy as they were came out in my hands, landing and on both of my feet bruising them both badly. I was in a state of shock and placed the heavy door against the wall before phoning reception. A maintenance man came and made a very make shift attempt to fix the problem. He told me not to use the door as it was dangerous. That evening will reported the matter to senior management who said the matter would be sorted immediately. The next day I complained to management once again. That afternoon on returning to my room I could hear broken glass. There were five or six people inside the room who all explained to me that a member of staff had just been taken to hospital because the glass door had fallen on him. I was in a state of shock and thought that could have so happened to me or my husband the night before. I was so upset for the staff who clearly could see how dangerous the situation had become. There was glass everywhere and although they cleared it up. There was still glass underfoot. This situation was intolerable and when I mentioned the Health and Safety Legislation that they should have been aware of and how this accident could have been completely avoided. The employee was given stitches at the hospital but the truth of the matter is that he could have lost his life. And all of this could have been avoided if the situation had been made safe in the first place. My husband and I no longer felt safe at the hotel and so decided to leave immediately.
The way we were treated. With great disregard and disrespect. It was as if our complaints and concerns didn’t matter.

We checked in late and the staff were very helpful. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast and the serving staff on duty. The lady (Peris FB Supervisor) manning the Food & Beavarage was such a lovely person and the guy who attended to us, (George Mburu had fantastic service) we felt comfortable and valued.
The gate Security guy (Joseph Ntuyai) made us feel welcome & safe.
The staff were amazing

Location to the beach.
There was no water in the rooms. We had to flash with buckets. The water from the taps was very salty. The staff are quite slow. The food was bland and there were a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms.

food and staff were great. Location was great.
Shower was cold no matter which way you turned it. Water in the taps and shower was salt water. A lot of the fittings were incredibly rusty and dated.

The location was great.
The cost of the food and the availability of the items on the menu. Hardly anything on the menu was available. The small bottles of coke was over $2.

The staff! They went over the top to make sure we were comfortable. In terms of facilities, the place has lost a bit of its shine, but the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made up for all of it. I hope their employer treats them as the diamonds they are! The room was OK, the bed comfortable. The hotel is right on the beach and has the most amazing views. The breakfast and dinner were good overall, the food options varied daily and everything was fresh. What was also nice is that the location of the breakfast and dinner would change - we had dinner on the poolside one night, and on the beach the other. It was wonderful overall!
You could tell that the hotel lost its former glory - we heard that it changed owner and it has not been kept as well as it used to be. Everything is a little old or outdated (but as said, the staff makes up for it!). There was construction ongoing in one part of the hotel but it did not bother us much. What I didn't like was that the shower water was salty, and so is the pool water, and you'd just never feel really clean. Also we were told the Deluxe room would have a jacuzzi and the photos were showing a nice bathroom, but ours was very old and the jacuzzi (in the shower tub) was not working. The bathroom was much smaller and older than the photos showed. Overall I'd say it was a bit overpriced, but it falls right within the price ranges in Diani.
