We didn't stay 1 night due to the beds not being made, the towels had stains on them the room looked like it had just been stripped and left. When a member of staff was approached about the room, the answer was 'what do you want me to do about it' at this point we left.

The location, friendly staff, and the very hearty breakfast, very comfy beds ,great night sleep
No hairdryer in the room ( could have requested one ), but no info in the room ?
No TV remote ?
Cold shower ( ran the water for a long time but reported issue to staff whom I'm sure will get it sorted )
The window in room 2 won't stay closed
Only minor issues that did not stop us from enjoying our stay

Located opposite the train station with their own free parking, perfect base for our trip. Breakfast was awesome.

going upstairs it’s going through some development, such as repainting, fixing and sorting stuff.
my room had a lot of broken stuff such as the broken sink

+ The beds were veeery comfortable. We slept like babies!
+ The staff was always friendly and nice!
+ The (English) breakfast was excellent and definitely a highlight of our stay!
+ The location right across the train station was very convenient for travels to Manchester and Liverpool.
- When we arrived, our beds weren't fully made and we had to get somebody to prepare them for us.
- The walls are very thin. Obviously, this is a pub and people are allowed to have fun downstairs but when you have drunk lads screaming around at midnight in adjacent rooms it doesn't really make you feel comfortable.
- The shower stream was critically weak.
- No power sockets in the bathroom.
- If you're not familiar with British pub culture, it might feel a bit weird when entering and leaving but that shouldn't really be a negative since it's also kind of a unique experience :)
3.5
Proximity to town and station. Exceptional breakfast included in price.
The hotel/pub is undergoing. Painting and decoration so communal areas look unappealing. No doubt when refurbished it will be a pleasant accommodation.

Location is nice
Bed and mattress were very uncomfortable, TV had only BBC and room was very small

Great location to train station. Clean, good breakfast
Waited over 30 mins for our breakfast, and person who ordered after us got there’s first. Didn’t have time to eat it when it finally arrived.
TV signal very poor.
No Murrow in the room other than the bathroom.

the room was warm and the bed was comfy, they had a t.v. (didn't try ) and tea making facilities ...but no spoon.
private parking for the car for the first instance, and then to find out i had no hot water ! i ran the shower on different settings but no hot water i did the same with the sink, i then noticed the shower tray had not drained off the water i had ran and the sink unit was also going down very slow, being already undressed and wanting to get ready to meet my colleagues i was force to have a COLD strip down wash and with only one small towel,i had to put my own work clothes on the floor because of the water on the floor and fear of slipping, when i went down to the bar and spoke to check in they said they would get someone to look at it and have this drink on us for the inconvenience sorry but you know how old buildings can be ! while me and a couple of colleagues were stood at the bar i noticed water running down from the top of the bar from the ceiling and noticed publicans standing back and looking up i shouted one of the bar staff regarding the water coming down (at a fair pace now)who said oh it's probably one of the showers leaking, one hearing this i said it's probably mine and laughed she said no yours is in the back and laughed ! the following morning i went for a shower but noticed the water was still in the tray from the previous night so i had a wash instead and yet again no hot water and the drains blocked so i decided to make a cup of tea before i left only to find i didn't have a spoon to stir it so i had to use my pen !!. i also have 4 terrible videos of the bathroom but unfortunately it won't let me download them sorry.

Staff very friendly and welcoming and great atmosphere. The locals were great company too. Traditional English breakfast was good.
When I arrived was a bit of a farce in relation to key to my room was a long wait to check in properly while they tried to locate key to my room. Tables not very clean at breakfast doesn't take much to give 'em a quick wipe and keep the tables nice, clean and presentable for your guests. No replacement towels in bedroom. But the biggest disappointment and what I found absolutely astonishing was that I even had to ask for replacement toilet roll for my room but when I did ask during my final evening there the two young girls behind the bar seemed totally and completely disinterested!!! I got up very early in the morning and I asked a gentleman member of staff on duty for some toilet roll as I had run out in my bedroom and by this time I really needed to use the loo. There was no toilet roll left in the gent's customer toilets either... This guy on duty seemed to take an age just to get me a few bits of toilet roll from what I gathered was the ladies customer toilets then said that he was sorry, that's all they had and that they were expecting a delivery. I just said don't bother and went to buy some toilet roll from Asda round the corner. I mean a place providing accommodation to people and something that is a basic and an essential requirement like toilet roll they run out of... What??? Well it's a good job I didn't need to go for a number two in the middle of the night isn't it?!!! To be honest I have stayed at much worse places though. The Kings Head was handy as right directly opposite the main train station and as we're in a cost of living crisis it was all about saving pennies but to be honest with hindsight I should have forked out a bit more to stay at one of the local Travelodges. Shame I had to write a negative review because I liked Andy who runs the place, he was a good host and very friendly.

Insanely good value especially with the breakfast menu thrown in free of charge. Would definitely stay here again. In fact I am doing and will definitely recommend to others. Over all I had a very comfortable and pleasant experience. It's nice and clean, tidy, fresh and very well kept with friendly staff. Even the bar and restaurant were great value too with large selection of beers and delicious food. What more can I say?
