Beautiful boutique hotel with great hosts and delicious breakfast.
Nothing, everything just great

This hotel shines in its layed back luxury. It's grounds are glorious. The hotel itself is simple, clean and has a colonial style that makes one feel on holiday.
The man who runs it is helpful, kind and has an obvious passion for the area.
The vibe is casual, breakfast (very yummy) is included and there is a fridge to store anything else you want.
The pool area is a gem.
The rooms have Aircon and a ceiling fan. They also have good shower pressure. The balcony has a hammoc.
Nothing really...

What a wonderful place!
Everything was exceptional from the beautiful house, the rooms, the breakfast to the wonderful pool. Wished we could have stayed longer! Felt extremely welcomed and at ease as soon as we arrived.
Would highly recommend but need a car to drive into town.

Juan is an excellent host, with lots of information on where to park and where to eat in Montezuma. The king room is very good, spacious, and clean. Nice facilities. Breakfast was excellent. We only stayed two nights and arrived late on the first night and then departed early on the day of departure. I would have liked to stay longer, only we were on a tight timetable.

We loved the calmness of this place and enjoyed our stay very much, although the hotel is out of Montezuma. Breakfast was also very nice! Nice owner.
Almost everything is great, but keep in mind, that it's not really walking distance to town (Montezuma). So a car would be nice, unless you want to walk.

Our hosts we very welcoming and informative, giving us lots of activity and restaurant recommendations. The hotel was lovely with a great pool area, good sized rooms and access to a fridge. Finally, the breakfast was fantastic, starting with fruit, coffee/tea then a choice of eggs, omelette or pancakes. amazing!
Not a problem for us, as we had a car, but the hotel it up a steep hill from Montezuma that would have made walking difficult.

Really beautiful stay at Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma. The room was beautiful and comfortable with a great en suite. Particularly loved the salt water swimming pool and the grounds around the hotel were amazing. Breakfast was also very nice and staff were very helpful/friendly.

Location superb, beautiful building, quiet and away from the noise down in Montezuma. Most wonderful and helpful hosts. Lovely breakfast .
Bathroom, but shower in particular could do with an update. WiFi a bit of a gamble at times.

Thank you Sonia and Juan for your warm welcoming ! Thank you very much for sharing your experience (restaurants, hiking...) with us. We really appreciated our breakfast too ! Early breakfast has been proposed for our last day due to ferry time, a big thanks !
Wifi didn't work very well.

The property was beautiful and surrounded by lush vegetation. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice.
Although the hotel isn't that far from Montezuma center, the walk is quite steep and there is no sidewalk.

I booked this hotel based on all the glowing reviews, and I'm so glad I did. This place does not cater to backpackers-- yes, you will need a car or a taxi to get down the hill, but if you stay in town, you will listen to the disco tech all night long! This small hotel is set beautifully upon a hilltop surrounded by jungle, and every detail is well observed. There are no TVs in the rooms-- instead we woke up to songbirds and howler monkeys every morning! Sr. Juan is the consummate host, a gentleman of refinement and good taste, as you can see in the attention to detail in the excellent breakfast he serves every morning, including the best coffee in Costa Rica. My sincere thanks to Sr. Juan and Sra. Sonia for hosting us, our stay there was one of the real highlights of our trip.

Perfect location. Great view on the garden.
Juan and Sonia are special hosts which I have never seen in any other hotel.
Thanks to Sonia's advice my red skin was healed quickly :). Thanks for a very very good service.
No 4x4 car required to get to the hotel as other reviews stated.
Only 1 thing to improve: WiFi quality and stability. But that seems to be a general issue in this region.

Juan and Sonia were the perfect hosts, welcoming, attentive and helpful and we cannot fault anything about the hacienda style hotel with its large lush garden full of wildlife including visits by troops of howler and capuchin monkeys, hummingbirds and more. Has a large well maintained swimming pool and a varied breakfast served in nice surroundings and plenty of parking. A perfect place to relax, chill and have some peace and quiet.
The hotel is just over two miles from Montezuma village and is not walkable due to a busy steep and narrow road. There are buses but only run every 90 minutes and not reliable as we discovered. Hotel will call a taxi to go to village which costs $5, but difficult to return after 9 pm at night as taxi service is provided by locals using their own unroadworthy cars and not always recognisable. Best to have a car!

The attention is outstanding, Mr Juan will make you feel at home, Sparkling clean, best price/quality relation you can get, very nice pool and a delicious breakfast.
It is a like 1.5 kms away from the beach but if you are driving it is not an issue.

The decor was simple and classy.
Our wrap around balcony was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious.
The pool was amazing.
I absolutely loved the hotel, and can't wait to go back. Hotel Horizonte de Montezuma was a sanctuary, a retreat from the pressures of life. I haven't relaxed so well for some time, and I felt completely at home.
Fabulous property, and a wonderful host who helped us whenever we needed anything.
Nothing at all.
