Amazing facilities, very fun and sociable hostel. Comfy beds, lovely staff, great location, good for meeting people and learning about the area/finding out things to do in Abel Tasman. Would 100% recommend.

This was an interesting hostel! The first of its kind that I've visited, but I truly enjoyed it. The grounds are lovely with a fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms were usually clean, there is a cinema, games, and a wonderfully large outside area to lounge at night. I also liked the setup of the rooms. They are in converted shipping containers and pretty clean and I didn't see any bugs, even with being near Abel Tasman. It's also very close to the "center" of town and everything you need. Phoebe and Meg were also super wonderful and always helpful when I or other residents needed anything!
Honestly a great value for money and super close to Abel Tasman without breaking the bank to get there
Nothing!

Extremely nice restroom and shower facilities- nicest of the hostels we visited. Plenty of outdoor activiites and spaces to enjoy at the facility. Very close to the park and hiking.
Very dark in shipping container sleeping spaces- hard to see upon arriving after dark. I didn't mind the sleeping containers but daughters in 20's weren't big fans.

The facilities were super good! Best backpackers Ive stayed at.
The bunk ladders were a little hard to get down!

Toller Außenbereich, super netter Personal und richtig große duschen!!
Kein Wlan in den Zimmern/ kleine herdplatten

Todella viihtyisä alue ja yhteiset oleskelualueet on tilavat. Siistiä ja ystävällinen henkilökunta. Sijainti Marahaussa hyvä, retkille pääsee nopeasti.
Huoneissa on isot raot vastapäiseen huoneeseen, joten puhe kuuluu toisesta huoneesta selvästi, suosittelen yöksi korvatulppia. Tikkaat yläsänkyyn hankalat.

De lieve mensen en het heerlijke buitenleven!

Great personalized service, chill vibe conducive to meeting people, perfect location for coast trail trips, each bed comes with power plugs. Tasty hot chocolate right at the reception.
Poor to no wifi reception in sleeping quarters, showers and toilets can get quite cold outside of high season. Beds could also be warmer at night.

The location and staff were great. If you’d like to be close to the Abel Tasman Park, this is the place for you.
The setup of the beds in the containers.

The guys managing this place are some of the friendliest that you'll come across backpacking around NZ. The facilities are great, but the atmosphere they create is what made the place memorable. Perfect launching point for the Abel Tasman. The entertainment room was nicely equipped. Their theater: i've never come across something like it at a backpackers in all of my years of travels - well designed and simply just a cool place to watch a movie.
Just be aware - shopping nearby is very limited and expensive. Do a grocery run before arriving if you plan on staying more than a night or two.

Loads of "fun" activities, e.g. cinema room, games console, football tables. Big kitchen. Sockets and lights for beds (although my light didn't work). Lots of showers, can book a bus too to the hostel by contacting betterbus. Staff were great. Right by the beach and not far from the Abel Tasman track.
I personally don't like the layout of the bedrooms. There is hardly any space for bags. The rooms are noisy too as it's one capsule per two dorm rooms. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable either. The sinks in the women's toilet are super close together! Not considered this in my scoring, but as a note to others - there isn't a supermarket in the village, although you can buy some food items from the information centre.

Everything was great. Value for money. The mattress was comfortable and the host was amazing. We reached late night on the booking day and he even gave us a bit of a discount. Awesome experience

Beds are really solid and wide enough to get privacy
People lightning the room at night, making phone calls and talking loud. Even a staff member checking in somoene late lighted the all room even if people were already sleeping.

great location, close to the National park. lots of outdoor social space as well as indoor. some nights can buy burgers and chips from hostel - great portion sizes. friendly staff, great stay! travelling with kiwi experience bus and this was much better than the one they recommend.

Very interactive and nice stay with amazing location. pool table, cinema, lots of backpackers and turists to interact with, clean beds, toilets… and the “boss” there was super friendly and comunicative.

Dangerous entrance when driving, forced to have top bunk.

Craig and Matt are both exceptional and professional business men and extremely welcoming and friendly people; the passion and love for what they do as hostel managers was evident throughout my stay. From the wide communal spaces with plenty of social activities on offer - cinema screen, games consoles, free pool tables, outdoor log burner and Matt’s frequent guitar sing-along sessions - this hostel really promotes and affords opportunities for socialization and engagement between its guests. Additionally, the bedrooms and bathrooms were always kept extremely clean! Finally, the hostel sits only a few hundred meters from one end of the Abel Tasman coastal track, providing easy access to both the track and water taxi’s for those who wish to go and hike it.
Marahau, while beautiful, has limited facilities but there are a handful of bars / restaurants and one local convenience store. It’s definitely a place for those who enjoy a somewhat quieter stay.

I highly recommend this place for those with a tight budget. I was running late - it took me much more time to get to Marahau than I expected, but the host still managed to meet me near the gate and check me in. He can also help you with picking the hike route and schedule the water taxi to get to the park. Place is clean and cozy, everything was great! very close to Abel Tasman park - walking distance from the start of the main trail.

Everything! The layout is great, rooms are away from the common area so there are no issues with noise. The wooden beds are comfy and fully stable. Common area is big and offers free pool tables, darts, ping pong and an amazing cinema. Kitchen is big as well and has lots of tea towels. The staff were amazing, always in a good mood and create a great friendly atmosphere. They also served food (for a very reasonable price) during my stay, but I think this is not always the case.

I was shown around by Meg when I arrived and he was never far away if you had any questions, or laundry.
The dorm rooms were arranged around a lawn. There were pool tables a trampoline and a cinema. A fire was lit in the evening and live music at weekends.
Bunks had a feeling of privacy, were sturdy wooden frames with sprung mattresses. Each bed had a light and power supply.
Showers were good.
Even when it was at capacity it didn't feel crowded.
Definitely more a good weather place (mostly outside) but there was a lounge inside and covered seating.

Lovely accommodation with awesome outdoor areas, huge amount of entertainment (cinema, darts, evening live music at weekends) and super friendly staff!
Quit noisy rooms, too few stoves.

The recreational facilities were fantastic. The showers and toilets were fantastic. The bus reception with burgers and the general vibe were fantastic. The kitchen facilities were very good.
The power unfortunately cut out on both nights in the lodge I was staying in.

Staff is super friendly.
Hostel is extremely stylish.
Rooms are a bit small, not much storage space if you get a top bunk.
