From the moment we drove through the archway entrance we were in awe. We were greeted by Michael who walked us through to the mustard drawing room for plunger coffee and tea cake. Michael was happy to answer all our questions on this simply beautiful 1740s home, exquisitely furnished over many years. We stayed in the large four poster bedroom, the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was in a closet, so quirky. Breakfast was excellent and served in the beautiful dining room with all the finery you normally see only on display in cabinets. Michael provided us with crockery so that we could sit in the alcove in the beautifully maintained gardens and enjoy a takeaway meal. A midday checkout was very welcome. We enjoyed every moment in this lovely home with charming hosts.
Wished we had stayed longer.

Gorgeous building and beyond-welcoming owners! The breakfast was big and delicious too. They were great with the dogs too.
Only one very small thing (and may have just been me!) but I came back to my room late and the blinds were pulled down for me. I don't like to sleep with blinds down so tried to get them back up but I couldn't. I wasn't sure if they were broken or I was just not able to figure it out! It was too late to call for help at that point so I was stuck with them down. Not disasterous but it meant I found it diffcult to sleep initially.

Great base for a visit to Newgrange visitor centre.
Collon House has rooms full of very interesting furniture and ornaments. The garden was fabulous.
The shower was built into a cupboard and was a bit small.

We loved the property itself, the host, and the location.

Everything about this accommodation was wonderful from beginning to end. Michael sorted out tea on arrival and a hearty breakfast the following morning. He also provided plenty of suggestions regarding Collon. The house looks even better in person than in the photos online, and the bedroom was warm and spacious, not to mention a journey back in time. There is also a lovely restaurant nearby. I would unreservedly recommend the house and our host.

We slept in historic room! The hosts have worked hard to make this 1740 property hospitable, modern, and still fit with the character of its original time period. We were treated to a tour of the entire house and the amazing gardens. Breakfast was fabulous, and well presented. Had we known how close it was to Dublin, we would’ve stayed there an extra night!
Improvements? Nothing! Our hosts gave us a great recommendation for dinner as well.

Absolutely stunning house and garden. Hosts were so welcoming and gave us lots of information about the history of the house as well as what there was to see in the locality.

Collon House was a fantastic experience which was unexpected. I booked for an overnight stay and attendance at a wedding nearby. The renovation of the house was exceptional. Our room (the Chinese room) was huge with a massive fireplace. The old world features were or appeared authentic providing the experience of luxuries experienced by the 'well off' in the last century. Breakfast was amazing using the solid silver service of course. Michael provided guidance and insight on the history which brought the whole place to life.
Everything was excellent

Michael is absolutely the best of hosts! We felt so welcome and he was so helpful and accomodating. The house is absolutely stunning - it was like we were staying in an art gallery and a real step back in time. The location is superb being right beside plenty of places to eat and drink and all the historical sites that Louth and Meath have to offer being right on your doorstep too. The breakfast was delicious! And the having the electric blanket turned on for us when we got to bed was such a lovely touch!
Not a complaint in any way but just to make sure you like the old house vibes and dont mind a few drafts etc! It didnt take away from the enjoyment for us at all.

Life routine simply dissolves in the Georgian interiors next to the warmth of the fireplace. Michael the host was very hospitable. He knows the house perfectly and is keen to share great stories about the history of the place along with good recommendations of the surroundings. We would definitely consider staying again to explore more of this stunning place!
It was getting up to 2 degrees outside at night and the house felt rather cold. On the bright side the room we were staying at had a bed warmer, so we slept comfy, and the next day we found ourselves acclimatized.
