The location was perfect! Very quiet room. The gentleman who checked us in and showed us to our building was great!
The breakfast was wonderful!
Highly recommend!

It is beautiful small hotel. The lady on reception had an amazing dry wit. Fresh cold water available all the time. The bed was comfy, the breakfast tasty and drinks from the bar excellent. It is 2 minutes walk from the Sea Organ. Parking literally over the road.
Nothing. It was quite pricey but due to the location and its lovely feel I understand why!

Would be great if the room has Smart TV instead.

We had a truly lovely stay at this hotel. The building has a cosy and historical ambiance to it, and the rooms are very comfortable and modern. Having breakfast in the glasshouse restaurant was the icing on the cake, surrounded by a green garden.
The location is perfect - close to everything you may need but also in a quieter part of the old town (although we did visit during October, so at low season). Last but not least, the employees were wonderful providing helpful service. We’ll for sure stay here again if we come back to Zadar.
Nothing to complain about! Perhaps worth noting is that our room had a loft with stairs leading up to it. This worked perfectly for us, but may not be suitable for those travelling with children, nor for some elderly people.

I liked the courtyard area and comfortable beds. Lovely breakfast
Poor lighting in the bathroom for ladies trying to put makeup on , no easy area to use hairdryer next to a mirror and long mirror inside wardrobe door had to be held open to use so wasn’t ideal.

Everything was above expectation. The staff was great, the room was great, amazing a-la-carte breakfast in the paradise garden is included in the price. The parking for hotel guests is free just in front of the hotel.

Beautifully renovated historic building, high spec bedrooms and bathrooms, great food and engaged and professional team.
Nothing to not like.

The property is well decorated and the addition of art and antiques adds elegance and charm. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. And the staff are amazing! Both at the hotel and the restaurant they are welcoming and incredibly helpful. Breakfast is excellent - a real full breakfast with several options, plus really good coffee. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was our favorite meal during our time in Zadar. The outside patio area is beautiful with orange and lemon trees plus beautiful flowers and herbs growing.
It is located near the sea organ and Monument to the sun as well as all the attractions of old town and the ferry. We loved everything about our stay and hope we will be back.

The location in the old town is fantastic, the courtyard dining area and conservatory are stunning and the breakfast spread was exceptional and varied.
The on-road parking is a little stressful so best to ask the hotel to reserve a spot for you in advance, and they were very helpful with with this for us.

The staff were very helpful, friendly, and had a great sense of humor! The room was clean and the amenities were great. The free breakfast was amazing way beyond what we expected.

The Almayer is a nice boutique hotel, but what makes the place EXCELLENT is the staff! From the moment you walk through the door until the time you check out, you become part of the Almayer family. The staff went above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday exceptionally special! They are also very knowledgeable pertaining to restaurant recommendations and local attractions. I highly recommend the Almayer to anyone visiting Zadar!
Very special thanks to Elena and Ivan!

The breakfast, dinner and drinks are totally worth a visit if you cannot stay at this hotel. The poached eggs on salad, home made yogurt, the venison for dinner or the willingness of the barman to try new mixes and deliver on the spot were all amazing. The wines are also worth a try. Parking is easy and just outside the hotel. The staff are super friendly and more importantly, service minded and want you to enjoy your stay. We had to depart a day earlier than expected and the hotel were more than forthcoming in flexibility. On top of that we got a wonderful packed breakfast as we had to depart at 6am. I would totally go back to this place!

Breakfast was very good and the staff were outstanding
There wasn't a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries while we were getting ready in the morning

The location was very close to the old city. The room was very spacious and had a nice balcony. There was free parking available.
We stayed in the dependance building, and the facilities of the main building were not available. The breakfast (help yourself) was available in the corridor for all rooms, and was very limited, and there was only one small can of fresh coffee for 4 rooms . The bed was too hard for my personal comfort. The price was far too high for quality.

The location is excellent - in a quiet neighbourhood but just minutes’ walk from the main sights. It’s easily accessible by car if you are arriving by road.
The ‘host’ who checked is in was very friendly.
The design of the room was very modern and tasteful.
This really isn’t a hotel experience at all.
Both the booking.com and hotel’s own descriptions are misleading. It feels like an Airbnb. The hotel is NOT open - you stay in a building across the street and are provided with a buffet breakfast of yoghurts, croissants and coffee. We paid over £150, expecting to be able to relax in the garden / hotel areas, and have a lovely ‘à la minute’ breakfast as per the description. Instead we just had a room with a communal corridor and very basic breakfast. None of the usual hotel amenities are available as there is no reception service. My partner wanted an additional pillow but was unable to get through on the mobile number provided. There is no garden, no lounge, no bar, no served breakfast.
We were hoping for a little oasis of calm to break our journey from Split to Zagreb, but would have been better to stay in one of the highly rated hostels in the town centre. Until they open up again properly, it’s very hard to justify the cost or recommend staying here.

The location was excellent. Facilities were clean and well laid out. I appreciated breakfast was just outside my room.
Nothing in particular. I was only there a short while.

Amazing room! Cool, interesting design without being imposing. Very beautiful.
Loved the soaps and the rainshower.
The place smelled good, but not too fragranced like so many places do..
I feel a bit scammed.
One of the main things i loved about the place was the secluded garden sitting area and the reviews of the breakfast that people described as "incredible".
We were exhausted and felt the need for splurging on a luxury experience.
I made a last minute reservation, got a confirmation email saying our arrival time was approved.
When we arrived the door to the reception read "reception closed" and then a list of 3 phone numbers. The last one tried got me through and the receptionist told me she would be there in 10 minutes. Traffic was apparently shitty and she arrived 40 minutes after the initial call. She then tells us that the hotel is closed. And of course that wording made us both anxious. Apparently the main building had been closed for months and will keep being closed for months, and therefore we would be in an annex building, with a lesser, hallway breakfast set up.
I checked on their website and found no information on this! The receptionist told me they have a pop-up on their website. I couldn't find it.
The receptionist (who apparently was one out of only two employees still working) was sassy and gave us a bit of attitude about our reaction to the information, but she ended up going above her normal duties to help us have a better stay.
We had a good stay. But we definitely didn't have the stay we wanted and thought we would be getting.
And we did not get what we were paying for.
I am very angry that this information was not made clear to me before or during the booking! It is NOT okay to mislead costumers this way. This sort of information should be IMPOSSIBLE to miss when visiting their website as it is a key factor in the experience one ultimately gets......

Design of the rooms, personal atmosphere, friendly stuff

Location, room decor
The main building of the hotel is closed meaning that breakfast (which was very basic/average) was had in the room and we couldn't enjoy the bar/courtyard. We were only told this 3 days before our arrival so couldn't make alternative plans. It wasn't much different to an AirBnB but was much more expensive. The room was nice and the location was good but I think they should advertise in advance that the main hotel in is closed so guests aren't disappointed (like we were).

Loved the blue room! Such a fun and unique experience, especially as a respite from all the heat. It was a nice mix of antique and modern too, with the desk, lamp and bathroom tiling. Closet was really spacious, although we didn't use it because we were only there for one night. Bathroom was also spacious. Loved the vaulted ceilings. The view was also really cute as it looked out over the restaurant below and church across the way. Really great location near the Sea organ and Greeting to Sun attractions.
Sink area really needed a countertop. There was a sliver of a shelf to the left of your head and a small round shelf below sink but bathroom necessities need to be laid out, so this was a bit inconvenient. Also no shelf in shower so had to place and pick up items off ground.
Not a big fan of the breakfast. I prefer a fresh, hearty sit-down breakfast of scrambled or fried eggs, bacon etc. Eggs were boiled and there were croissants, bananas, juice and nespresso coffee, so we were okay. It was laid out just outside our room so it was super easy to access but we had to eat in our room and only had one chair so one of us ate on the bed.
There was no elevator but luckily our host helped carry up one of our luggages. It was a different story trying to get it down the stairs.
There was no place to store our luggage upon checkout (we did not want to leave in our car) so we had to wait until someone would be back at the property to let us in so we could access them where we had decided to leave them within the hotel, after having left our key in the room because that is how checkout is done.
