Location was brilliant, views to die for and being able to park was a bonus. Only met the hostess in the morning but she was very friendly.
Air conditioning unit very loud inside and also outside on the terrace . Unable to sit outside with the noise . When we went to have showers at 8.30pm there was no hot water . Room decor needs to be updated. There was also a glass door into the bathroom which didn’t provide any privacy .

I loved everything about Villa Carmen. It is very conveniently located and the services were great. Breakfast was tasty and substantial. The place is close to several beaches, including a long sandy beach, as well as several restaurants.

Beautiful hotel, quiet location on an amazing island. Vincent and family made us feel so welcome giving us lifts to where ever we wanted. Thank you - we will definitely return.

The feeling of the place with all the vegetation was very relaxing. The location. The pool. The staff - especially Doris who was the perfect host. There was a mix up on arrival about the rooms (not Villa Carmen's fault) and they did everything they could to make sure we were satisfied, which we were.
Nothing.

Villa Carmen was a great place to stay for someone looking to combine a peaceful beach holiday with the closeness of a bigger and busier city for day trips. The owner sisters were wonderfully friendly and provided us with warm welcome and tips for the region. The breakfast was good and we got gluten free products as was promised. The best thing in our room was the big terrace where we could spend the evening and listen to the sound of the waves only 50meters away!
If you are looking for a hotel with luxurious amenities and rooms, this is not for you. However, if you appreciate warm, kind, authentic and easy going atmosphere you'll love it here!

Location
The management put us in the wrong room (double room, small, ground floor, no sea view), but tried to charge us for the one we had booked (large triple room, sea view). We had originally booked the smaller room but changed it on Booking.com a few days after we made the booking, months before our trip. The management said that we should have emailed them direct, but they clearly knew we had wanted the larger room as that was what they tried to charge us for. An unpleasant start to our holiday. Also, as the website states you can pay electronically, we planned to do this. But following the disagreement about the room they said we had to pay in cash. This meant paying over €150 in charges to get the €900 we needed from the only ATM that was working, and we spent a long time walking around to try and find enough cash. We were only there three days and this really spoilt our last day.

Great vacation. The owner Doris is very friendly and caring. Very comfortable hotel, close to the beach, restaurants, shops.

The location is beautiful away from the busy Old Town but close enough to take the water taxi over which goes to and from all day. Or bus. Or taxi (150 - 200 kuna)
The room was well positioned with a view of the sea out 3 windows which you can open wide.
Air Conditioner worked well.
So quiet and nice and dark for sleeping.
Breakfast was nice always plenty of choice and enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the bay.
The pool is beautiful, warm and clean with loungers and towels and an outdoor shower.
The sea is 1 min across the road with a variety of options for sun bathing or swimming or renting water vehicles...SUPs boats jet skis kayaks etc. Looked amzing for people of all ages.
You can book tours, water taxis, transfers etc with Villa Carmen staff just ask the amazing Doris!
There is a great walking promenade, supermarket, bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance.
Can't fault this beautiful place and I can't wait to come back.
It's not that I didn't like it as I am fit and mobile but need to mention there are steps to the villa maybe 40. But there are lower apartments I believe

Breakfasts were excellent. As well as the usual juices, coffee, breads, fruit and cereals there was always also a constantly changing choice of omelettes, fresh vegetables and pastries. Breakfasts were served on the terrace overlooking flowers, trees, the pool and the ocean. Fabulous.
The family also ran an excellent restaurant (The Merinero) just 50 meters away where one could also eat while looking out over the islands on the horizon.

lovely view from the room, facing the beach, good breakfast, friendly host, good restaurants around the area
bed could have been a bit bigger, it was a bit small for me and my partner

Dealt with Victoria making booking etc. Very efficient and responsive. Arranged with her to collect us at airport (separate charge E25) well worth it to be taken directly to our accommodation. Everything was as advertised. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and good linen. Doris was lady who looked after things on a daily basis and she gave us a great breakfast every morning and was very kind and friendly to deal with. The accommodation is extremely close to the sea. The family also have a nearby restaurant - Konoba Marinero - which was excellent and in which we dined every evening - see separate review.
Everything excellent

Stunning views, beautiful villa, peaceful pool area and the beach a 2 minute walk away. What’s not to love’?!
3.5
The attention of the staff and the location were excellent. the breakfast was pretty much good
Towels in the bathroom (they were small and different colors) and linens in the bed were not placed properly (the bed wasn't made).
REMEMBER the hotel DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD, and the ATM charges a lot for cash withdrawal in KUNAS, SO BEST OPTION TAKE EUROS OR DOLLARS TO PAY THE HOTEL with you

Villa Carmen is in an excellent location one of the best views from all seaview rooms and the excellent pool facility. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice and a surprise cooked plate of something most days. Doris the owner is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, from helping with restaurant bookings to booking the water taxis. This is a very friendly home from home accommodation with everything within walking distance, beaches, wooded walk which takes you all the way round to Srebreno to Kupari Bay. The water taxi service to Dubrovnik, Cavtat, Lokrum and Island boat tours is within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks here and it is also a very family friendly villa. Highly recommended.
Coming home !!!
