A piece of paradise in a perfect location

Sonio Beach is a piece of paradise. A lovely family owned and run hotel. Spotlessly clean, perfect location, excellent restaurant and everything you need for a quiet, relaxing break right in the heart of busy Platanias.

Wifi is not reliable and non existent in some rooms - so not the place to stay if you need wifi for work. If you are looking to disconnect and escape your emails - then it may be perfect!

Love to get back there.

Very clean, very quiet. Staff were extremely nice. A big bonus is the associated restaurant on the beach, with excellent food for fair prices, and extremely nice staff.

Superb

Sonio hôtel has a very friendly and welcoming staff. They are always smiling and gave us some good recommendations on locations to visit in Crete. The hotel is clean, calm, and comfortable. In the suites, there is a lot of privacy with nice views on the sea. We liked the restaurant and the regular breakfast they serve (though it is not a buffet). We very much enjoyed the location of the hotel. Platanias is known for the vibrant night life, good quality restaurants, bars, and shops. We actually preferred to stay there instead of Chania as we thought it offers more options and feels less crowded. In general, it was a great experience and we definitely recommend it to couples, group of friends, and families.

Breakfast could have included more options (a buffet would make more sense).

Thank you Sofia for a wonderful holiday at your charming place. We enjoyed your hospitality, our room, the location and of course the delicious food at your restaurant. The close proximity to the beach and the street full of restaurants and it's convenience in terms of both public transport and catching taxis makes Sonio Beach a great choice to stay in Platanias. A little gem of a hotel.

This hotel is a little gem — just as shown in the photos. I indicated that I would be arriving around 11pm and Sofia and a colleague were at the reception desk to greet me and, without any delay, bring me to my studio (with a sea view). The studio is modern and well designed, and was spotlessly clean throughout. I slept very well in the comfortable large double bed. Due to my schedule, I was unable to avail of any meals at the hotel restaurant, which was a pity as it is located by the beach and the reviews suggest an enjoyable culinary experience. I would definitely stay at Sonio Beach again.

Wonderful place to stay

Sofia is the perfect host and nothing is too much to help. the apartment is about 100 paces from the sea! I love that I had a sea view from our bed! the apartment is compact and very clean, they clean and make the beds every day. nice shower, too

TV not working properly and being tall, and us going at a cooler time of the year (late Oct) at night, the bedding didn’t cover me at night. Nothing else, otherwise perfect!

Very enjoyable

Great location, stuff excellent, great food, they were very helpful for any request that we have. Concept is great (from road to beach): On the main road is supermarket, behind is the reception, rooms, restaurant on the edge of the beach (you can enjoy great lunch/dinner and see and hear the waves), sunbeds on the beach and see. Because Crete is very large, our plan is to visit again and we will stay in the same hotel.

The hotel is a few seconds from the beach and has a nice pool and great restaurant The staff are very friendly and allowed us to check out a bit later as my partner needs to work a bit The room is spacious and including breezy balcony.

Great family run hotel in perfect location

We had a really nice stay and the nice warm welcome by Sofia and her daughter was really nice. They were also very helpful with everything else (taxi booking, car rental etc.) The biggest pros in my view are the location (right at the beach and centre of town) and the size of the rooms we had (we are 4 so this was great). Also the AC is really good as well as the beds and very good internet as well. The only thing for us that could have been better were the showers as there is an old fashion shower curtain that really got in the way all the time. The pool was small and we did not use it as it was full all the time but we did not really care about that as the sea is next door. But the friendly support from Sofia and her daughter really made the stay extra nice, really nice people.

Very pleasant stay

The common area is great, gardens, pool and the best restaurant in all of Creta!! We were eating there every day. The room is spacious and clean. Staff was super friendly.

Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room, it was a bit of a problem as we were working. Shower is very small and makes the whole bathroom wet.

Amazing friendly host, super clean and seafront!

Sofia and everyone at the hotel was so friendly and caring. The studio was simple but exceptionally clean and comfy we had everything we needed. Nice stay at fair price. Sea is in front of you. Breakfast is served almost at the beach level. Lovely restaurant and food. One of the best foods we had in Crete ( and we stayed for 15 days)

The shower is a bit broken in our studio and hot water at night sometimes was not working but nothing major that would disturb our great stay at this hotel. Sofia is exceptional and did her best to support with nice tips or even to provide an umbrella and extra towels for the beach. We were very well received. We would definitely come back and recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed our time at Sonio Beach as Sofia and everyone we met from the staff are really nice. The room was comfortable and very clean, the beach and pool areas are great, the hotel is well maintained and the food at the restaurant was outstanding. The Sonio Salad and the zucchini balls were our favourites!
